In the comics the sisters's get new powers or improved version of their powers, but my question is would you have liked to see their new and improved powers that appear in the comics on the tv?

I don't read the comics, normally I don't like characters too much fitted with powers, above all the sisters: they are The Power of Three, it'ld be enough!

The powers fit the comic media so well. But as for the actual show, no way.

Since I didn't really want to see astral projection, levitation, explosion, Charmed-One-with-whitelighter-powers and empathy - no. Love Season 9 of the comics, but all of those powers, although cool and fit the particular sister better than these, they were all as unnecessary as all of those.

I wouldn't have because there were too many portrayed on the show anyway especially Wyatt.
What we got was more than enough thanks.

I never got why Phoebe didn't at least get her empath power back in season 8. Levitation, I understand the costs, but its like they just forgot about her powers in the final season.

Maybe encase Phoebe might've picked up something on Christy right from start meaning the storyline would be over before the season ran out and the show needed a whole year to fill in that time slot plus the fact you had Paige developing more whitelighter powers so more effects, new sets and guest starring men which could've meant the shows money was too thinly spread to bring empathy back I don't know.

I think it's because they were only using it for comedy and they dropped most of the comedy in Season 7 and Season 8. I wish if they were going to give her a power that had nothing to do with seeing the future, they could at least have let her use it properly. Although I'll always think that as a living whitelighter, it should've been Paige's power - or Coop's and his daughters.

Well according to Kern, he wanted to show that "love" was Phoebe's true power in season 8. I believe that was his excuse for Phoebe not getting any other powers back. While I do think that's a BS excuse and that he failed miserably, I can't say I'm too bothered about it. I've always said that I didn't mind the basic notion of Phoebe being an empath, but the execution of it was abysmal. Like Es said, it was mainly played for comedy (or what they considered comedy). Either that, or to do the power channeling crap, which never should have been a thing in my opinion. I think giving Phoebe magical empathy when they did could have been a great opportunity to get the character back on track; perhaps helping her regain some of the natural empathy that she had in spades back in the early seasons. But instead, they just used it to make her more self-involved and irritating than ever... because they thought it'd be funny that way. So where was I? Oh right, season 8. So yes, that's why I'm not too bothered about her regaining it. If I had any faith that they would use it more appropriately than they did in season 6, I'd be all for it... but let's remember how most things were handled in season eight; especially where Phoebe is concerned. Ultimately, I think it was a small blessing.
As for the comic powers. I'll say no, simply because I think they had enough powers. Having said that, I think if they had been introduced into the show, they would've been able to translate them to screen just fine. In fact I often wish that Piper's molecule speeding had been more like what she learned to do in season 9, then maybe she wouldn't have been so overpowered. Then again, they didn't really have to overpower her explosions the way they did.
I also like that Phoebe's "Morality Bites" ability was explained. Now if they were going to use empathy in an offensive way; I would've much rather had that than the power channeling stuff. But she'd need to do it just like we've seen; getting very close to the person and having to experience the emotion herself while doing it. But even then, I wouldn't have had her doing anything like that until far later.

Oh wow, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Was he trying to suggest that Phoebe is able to 'love' better or to some greater extent than anyone else? With all her car-crash relationships? I think not... I suppose chucking in a Cupid for her to play with at the eleventh hour was his flimsy attempt at demonstrating this. You're both right, the portrayal of Phoebe's horn-o-metre empathy was horrible. It's really saying something that by the time that she was given the power in S6 that the writers learly weren't interested in giving the sisters new powers in order to help Innocents.... but to see how much their boyfriends really wanted to bone them. I agree, that would've made the power so unique and actually interesting. Even if she'd used her empathic powers to heal Innocents (in the same way Father Thomas did) that would've been so much better. I wish she'd never been made a semi-famous advice columnist, it was such a boring job that severely limited her interaction with new potential Innocents. I too didn't like Phoebe being able to channel powers, although I wouldn't have minded her be able to 'negate' powers - so if someone threw a fireball at her, she could either extinguish it or lessen its blow on her (e.i. it wouldn't burn her, just throw her back) but never should she have been able to reverse it.

With all her car-crash relationships? I think not... Well, since Kern and Alyssa obviously thought that sex=love, I suppose they thought that Phoebe had never gotten over being the Goddess of Love (aka Sex) and still was. Shall I barf now or barf later? When I think of my sweet Phoebs from Season One and Two, this just breaks my heart. That's when love really was her true power, not in the latter seasons when sex was. But that was The WB back then, trying to use sex to save their dying network. Or giving her the Ultimate Fantasy Man...when as far as I'm concerned she already had him with Billy Applegate in Chick Flicks... But instead, they just used it to make her more self-involved and irritating than ever... because they thought it'd be funny that way. And how they thought someone whose power was her "love" would be that self-involved I'll never understand. LOL! You're probably very right about that. Well, outside of battling the latest, greatest Big Bad, wasn't that their only concern? After all, how much their boyfriends really wanted to bone them showed how much their boyfriends really loved them. Should I barf now or barf later? As for the comic powers. I'll say no, simply because I think they had enough powers. Having said that, I think if they had been introduced into the show, they would've been able to translate them to screen just fine. In fact I often wish that Piper's molecule speeding had been more like what she learned to do in season 9, then maybe she wouldn't have been so overpowered. Then again, they didn't really have to overpower her explosions the way they did. Amen. I'll always wonder if Prue hadn't died so as the new "oldest" Piper wouldn't have had to become the most powerful, if she ever would've gotten such precise control and power, being able to use it on lower-level demons, but not higher-level ones. I also like that Phoebe's "Morality Bites" ability was explained. Now if they were going to use empathy in an offensive way; I would've much rather had that than the power channeling stuff. But she'd need to do it just like we've seen; getting very close to the person and having to experience the emotion herself while doing it. I wish she'd never been made a semi-famous advice columnist, it was such a boring job that severely limited her interaction with new potential Innocents. I agree with most of this, but not the bit that her job severely limited her interaction with new potential Innocents. What happened with Ginny showed how both the letters and Phoebe's premonition powers could've been used to find them and her semi-celebrity status would've made it easier for her to find and help them. But that was only important with the first set whose destiny was to protect Innocents, not the second set whose second destiny was to protect the Twice Blessed Brat by battling the latest, greatest Big Bad. *yawn* That would've given her a defensive power that would've made sense, although I'm not sure how you'd explain how empathy could do that. That sounds like a totally different power that has even less to do with seeing the future, but with how their destiny had changed would've made more sense than empathy, since it would be a way to protect herself in battle rather than helping others.

I liked Phoebe's power of empathy: it was a reasonable explanation of what had happened in Morality Bites, (certainly empathy is strongly linked to emotions), it had a bond with her ability to see the future and the past, fulfilled the prophecy about the most powerful witches ever seen
I didn't instead like at all Phoebe'transformation in an expert of the post of the heart: it's nice that the character has at some point overcome her fear of love but Phoebe's vivd and adventurous personality is ill-suited for the sugary role of marriage counselor Even a Phobe in love with Coop would have dreamed of a social role different from being a kind of vice cupid!
While the presence of three daughters -maybe witches, never Charmed Ones- or her marriage with that dull cupid never upset me, I cannot stand the idea of the joyful, lively, curious Phoebe reduced to a writer of advice to catch men

Amen. I'll always wonder if Prue hadn't died so as the new "oldest" Piper wouldn't have had to become the most powerful, if she ever would've gotten such precise control and power, being able to use it on lower-level demons, but not higher-level ones. No exactly with higher level demons they should've had some kind of resistance to Piper's blowing up power I think whether it was reconstructing themselves like the Lazarus demon and Bianca did, shaking it of like some people done via Piper's freezing or been thrown against the wall like Ludlow was and then vanquished via a blood, spell potion vanquish but going on the second set of sisters only when they'd fully grown accustomed to one another and developed the family bond thing been season 5 onward so no upper level vanquishes during season 4 then. Not until the comics at least and of course using that power could bring harm to Phoebe herself in her experiencing the emotions through extreme headaches or future brain problems maybe which could occur and so would probably only use that power sparingly if they did happen then.

I didn't care for the levitation power much but it bothered me to no end that her empath power was completely forgotten about. The only times we got to see it was when she was around boyfriends which didn't really contribute to anything. I would have loved to see her use that power to help save innocents. I can't remember if she ever did. As for the comics - I never read them. We can't get them where I live, I don't think. I have no idea how the sisters's powers have changed. Could someone please brief me in?

As for the comics - I never read them. We can't get them where I live, I don't think. I have no idea how the sisters's powers have changed. Could someone please brief me in? SEASON NINE SPOILERS AHEADPaige's came first; she developed the power to create what she calls an "orb shield". A force-field, similar to the one Wyatt has. Then Piper. She developed more control over her power to speed up molecules. So now, rather than always causing explosions, she can do more with it such as heating stuff up, melting things, burning things etc. There was also one time where Paige created an orb shield around them, Phoebe lifted it up with her levitation and Piper made it soar across the room like a balloon by speeding up the air molecules. Finally we have Phoebe. In an issue that revisits 2x02, we find out what Phoebe used to kill Cal Green in the alternate future. It's an advanced stage of her empathy. We find out that Cal is abusive and has serious anger issues. When Phoebe feels that with her empathy, she realizes that she can use it against him by overloading his mind with his own rage and forcing him to feel the pain and fear of all his victims.

Phoebe now has all her powers back including the power we see her use in Morality Bites to kill the base ball player, it's an extension of her empathy, reflecting back nightmares and negative emotions. As for Paige she can now use the orb shield that Wyatt had when he was a baby.

I wish I could read the comics now Anyway, I think it would have been great to see those powers on screen. It would have been refreshing, something to keep the show going. It's also a different form of their powers advancing than the show originally introduced -- instead of just adding other powers, the existing ones improve. I like it, budget issues aside, I wish that's what they had done before the show had ended.
