What do you remember of your days on the Charmed set?
"It was all with Shannen, and I thought she was absolutely darling. I had worked with her years before on Life Goes on. That was about a boy with a Down’s syndrome, and I was guest-starring as the boy’s teacher. Shannen was on that episode, too, and I was setting them up to be married, for what that might be like. I was new to L.A. then because I’d mostly been on the stage, and I was relatively new to being on camera. And I remember thinking, «This girl is a pro”. So I was aware of how good Shannen was, and she was very nice when I did Charmed. I enjoyed working with her, Holly Marie Combs, I had played her biological mother on Picket Fences. We didn’t get to work together on Charmed, but it was fun just getting to see her again. Otherwise my experience was pretty straightforward.
Actually, one other thing I remember was being at a table and another guest star was having a hard time. In between takes Shannen said something very encouraging and nurturing to her, and I thought she was very nice. So those are my memories, as sparse as they are" --> CHRISTINE ROSE (CLAIRE PRYCE)

You work with three of the most beautiful women on television - what is like working them - especially working with Shannen Doherty?
It has been a fabulous experience to say the least. Shannen? I like the bad girl in Shannen - I like that aspect of her. It's been good - I have to say that these are three very strong willed women who have had a lot of success at an early age, and also have had a lot of experience in front of the camera on television, so I have nothing but things to learn from them in a lot of respects - both on and off camera.
Are the things we hear about Shannen rumor or fact - both good and bad?
I think some of it is rumor, but a lot of it is based on truth because she was young when success hit her. The great thing about Shannen is that she is a total professional and is always prepared, and she expects everyone around her to be at the same level - and I like to think I am the same way, so I respect the way she is around the set. We get things done, things rapidly and according to the script, so I certainly can't complain.
"I like Shannen, I think she's a straight shooter. I don't know where the press was getting their information but with me she's been nothing but honest, hard-working and a complete professional."--> T.W. KING

Holly and Shannon are also very cool. The one thing I noticed about Shannon is that she works very hard. I had seen her come in one day on her day off to work with the stunt coordinator on some "Matrix" type martial arts. Plus, she's a very good actor. I really liked watching her work.
Shannen Doherty was also great to work with. All of that stuff about her being difficult, to me, seemed crazy. She's very dedicated to her work and took it seriously. You have to respect that. I thought she was very cool. --> MICHAEL BAILEY

“I also want to mention how impressed I was with Shannen Doherty, her athletism and how quickly she picked up on the wrestling moves we taught her for someone who at that stage had no watched Wrestling in her life was incredible!”. He went on to say, “For monthing fellow Wrestlers would remind me that I got pinned by Shannen Doherty!” “I also want to state that she was so warm to us (wrestlers) and her smile was electric and it’s a shame she doesn’t get the respect in the media that she deserves!, the media should lay off her!” --> TNA Wrestler Scott Steiner

Interesting quotes, Val.
Hard not to notice a common theme with all of these--praise for Shannen being very dedicated, professional, and hard-working. She's clearly somebody who takes her roles very seriously and has high standards, which is probably what caused her to get branded as "difficult." Writers and producers absolutely hate it when actors criticize their scripts, especially if said actor is a woman.

Love hearing those words, especially with the last two, you wouldn't think to see what they would say. DEFINITELY, Betty. That is more likely how that "difficult" happened and that falls in line with things we've heard about her butting heads with Kern and maybe some of stuff with Alyssa. I would have LOVED to see Shannen's version of S4. I love the idea that she was willing and wanting to learn more and get things done correctly. And she was willing to go beyond and most likely criticize scripts and how it aligns with characters and stories. I wish more actors got more say in their tv characters because you can definitely tell when actors are not thrilled but its' written and they have to. Having some input on a character, especially 2-3 years in would be wonderful, but that doesn't always work for the teams. Also, you know, some put those qualities (professional, hard-working, STRAIGHT-SHOOTER, opinionated) in women has being hard to work with and bitchy. Because clearly, these are not lady-like qualities.

Nice to hear good stuff about Shannen. So many like to trash her for some reason.

Some lovely quotes there, I was afraid it would be more of the usual so I'm pleasantly surprised. More and more I'm beginning to wonder if Alyssa was more of a problem than Shannen. From all I've watched and read of the actors it seems that Shannen is consistently praised for her hard-work and determination, whilst Alyssa is described as "fun" or "sexy". Shannen and Holly really seemed to care about Charmed which I appreciate far more than Rose's non-committal attitude and Alyssa and Brian's immature, giggling schoolchildren behaviour. This might sound harsh, but Shannen deserved to stay at Charmed more than anyone and I think that's what stung her most when she was fired because she really did give it 100%. The irony is that they were making a show about strong, ballsy women and Shannen was punished for being exactly that.

Shannen actually cared about the show and she made it known that she didn't like the direction Kern was taking it in, after he seized power.
Of course, Kern's male ego was not having that, a woman having strong opinions, so, in his mind, Shannen had to go.

I've always gotten the sense that Charmed was far more important to Shannen and Holly than it was for Alyssa and Rose. The latter two had already found success outside of Charmed, so their careers didn't really depend on whether or not the show succeeded. On the other hand, Charmed was Shannen's big chance to repair her public image and revive her career after the controversies of the 90210 days, while it was Holly's first big break as an actor. Even nowadays, you still constantly see Shannen and Holly reminiscing about Charmed and attending conventions, whereas you see far less of that from Alyssa and Rose.

Shannen was a professional and did put in the effort. If she hated the script she made it known unlike alyssa who would never speak up. Thats what got Shannen fired.
Truth be told, i think the alyssa/shannen feud was blown up and may have been a minor issue.
Would i have loved Shannen to have stayed. Of course as much as i like Rose, It was just a job to her and one she thought was 1-2 years wasnt it. She never talks about the show and probaly always hated it and she admitted she hates long running gigs. But Id gladly pick shannen to stay over rose coming in anyday.

Not to knock on Rose, but Shannen was clearly far more dedicated to the show. She deeply cared about the quality of the scripts she was getting and wasn't afraid to speak up when she felt they weren't up to par. Shannen wanted Charmed to be bigger and better, something that would be enjoyed, respected, and well-remembered. She was probably horrified to see what the show turned into after she left.

She never got around to watch it haha, she figured out about the Manor blowing up in "Forever Charmed" only on the recent convention. Also when she was told about the plot of the series finale she said that it sounded too "confusing". But then again on another convention when she was asked what was her favourite season of "Charmed" she stated it was season 3. Holly agreed:)

I wish Shannen could be the showrunner of a Charmed reboot. I bet she'd love the chance to recreate what she never got to finish.

huh...I'm super against reboot, BUT! you know, I think I would try it out if Shannen (and maybe Holly) created something. (But I also hate the idea of a continuation because I don't believe ANYTHING from the "epilogue.")

Then it would be the charmed ones (new actors) and the originals playing adult figures. That wont work for me. Im sorry west73. It would only work if Shannen is producer and director and plays Patty. But Holly comes onboard as a new character.

Any plot/idea that they come up with likely be underwhelming and exacerbate the problems that plagued the show from Seasons 5-8. I would like to see a reboot, though, purely because I want a Charmed to exist that is detached from the original series' S5-8 . I'd love Shannen to reboot Charmed, she obviously still care about the show, even after all these years, and regularly names it as her favourite job. Her dedication and work ethic would ensure it didn't suffer the continuity errors that the original series did and would perhaps be even better in the long run.

I'd love one or both of them to play older relatives to the "new" Charmed Ones. Both are such brilliant actors. As neither of them is old enough to play Grams yet, perhaps Patty could have a sister and she would raise the girls instead.

If they ever do a reboot I SO hope they do play older relatives. That would be a different take. No need to even have a Grams at all in this instance. Just better not be anywhere near CW. Cable would work.

No offense, guys, but can you imagine how much would the fanbase hate the idea of bringing Holly and Shannen in whatever-remake-it-is as just some recurring characters? I would gladly watch reunion of Shannen, Holly, Alyssa and Rose on some convention or TV show (at least) or making-of-Charmed movie (at most) considering it's gonna be 10 years since the show has ended.
