Our first two years for sure dears.
Given my *age* - Im not a fan of the darker and gritty season 3 and 4 and I wont even start on season 5 onwards.
Our first season did do the scary and dark mythology based demon episodes fantastic. The Wendigo, Is There a Woggy in the House and Out of Sight are quite good written episodes.
I liked it when - the elders were known as *they* and The Source known as *him*. When Warlocks were the main focus and demons were simply minor and appeared a few times a season.
The show should of kept its *original* mythology from those early years - and not the terribly and so beyond what the core essence of the show was - later on. *sigh*

IMOHO, once the idea of half-breeds were brought into the story, all previous mythology went out the window as having a whitelighter for a father became more important than having a Warren for a mother. And the idea of a demon who's been evil for almost a century can suddenly be good just because his demonic mother had sex with a non-magical messed it up even more.

Not a fan of the mythology in regards to hybrids, twice blessed children and the demon world changing so much.
Whitelighters becoming such a huge focus later. Also Paige being more whitelighter than witch. Why Leo or whitelighters needed to be gone after season 1. Had that been the case, then if Paige still was introduced she would be a full witch. But knowing Kern, she would just turn into a half demon or warlock. It wouldnt have bothered me if she was half warlock, if only not born one but a full witch and only if she kills an innocent and does evil would she turn. So just a warlock father and nothing more. But Kern would not do it right.
So i voted season 1 and 2.

Still S1 and S2. Later on, it switched away from the original plan, like Valhalla. *shudder* I'm a fan of the Northern mythology and I was shocked here!

My daughter thought the Valyries dressed more like Amazon Women. I remember thinking to myself that doesn't look like how I would Imagine Valyries dressing. I *cringe* with how our beloved show kept using greek mythology and doing a terrible job at it. But we must please our target audience with outfits and think of other mythology that would wow our audience. *sigh*

Funny they even poked fun at xena for them dressing that way. lol

Seasons 1-4 without a shadow of a doubt. At least in those seasons things like fairies were still treated seriously. Once we got to season 5 we got leprachauns (really?), dwarves, nymphs, mermaids, elves and ogres. Now if this show was helmed by a brilliant fantasy writer, then these ideas could have been integrated fairly well I imagine. But we got Kern. Who turned it into a giant cheesefest the likes of which I'd never seen before. Absolutely cringeworthy. If they had treated these creatures seriously and not made them so light-hearted and essentially poor comic relief, then they may have been worthy additions to the mythos of Charmed.

The fairies and trolls in Once Upon a Time were done well. Only children can see then. Plus they were mysterious. The trolls were quite scary. I loved the magical world being more mysterious and not cringeworthy and over the top in season 5 and they were out in the open all the time. Seriously Kern get your own mythology correct or hire someone to keep track of this stuff.

Same as adzpower said seasons 1-4.
And yes I would've enjoyed Mermaids, Gods and Valkyries in the later years had they been done correctly.

But Kern would not do it right. So i voted season 1 and 2. I'll agree with this if you get rid of the idea of half-warlock. In order to keep up the mythology of Season One (with emphasis on MYTHOLOGY - it's *NOT* reality!), you always had to have being a Warren the most important qualification - it's what made the show Charmed and not Whitelighter or Darklighter or Demon or whatever Paige's father is. So if Paige's mother was a Warren witch and her father a non-magical or a whitelighter or a warlock or a demon or a darklighter or an Elder or anything else, I'd want her to still be a full Warren witch (just like her half-sisters despite their father being a non-magical as was their grandfather...) until, as you pointed out, she kills, in which case she'd become a full warlock (just like what should've happened with her half-sisters so the 20's cousins would all be warlocks, as would Morality Bites' Phoebe, as would Wyatt and Chris, as would Paige and Phoebe) until they saved someone who wasn't a relative and became a witch again (which is also what would happen with a warlock - read Brendan or - preferred - Cole). Then the show stays true to its mythology and the show remains Charmed. This also would mean that *all* Halliwell and Matthews children would be full witches, no matter who the Charmed One married or had sex with. So many of Charmed's problems would've been eliminated if they'd just followed that one rule. Note: For me, this would only be true for the Warren line. Other lines would/could do things differently depending upon what had happened within that line. In the case of the Warrens, despite each generation marrying someone who was probably not a witch, each generation would be a stronger witch CULMINATING (ending) with the Charmed Ones. This means their children would not be more powerful than their mothers so Wyatt would *not* be Twice Blessed.

Yeah it always bothered me that they made out that some of the kids were supposed to be stronger than The Charmed Ones, or as strong as, please, stop! NO! CULMINATING, as in like Es said, ENDING. I get that the kids would be powerful witches because they're still part of the Warren Line, but stronger than The Charmed Ones? Don't make me laugh.

It made no sense. If the Charmed Ones are the most powerful then nobody before or after can be as strong as them in the Warren line.
But it never said anything about other lines not warren. Its late so my mind isnt working. But did the prophecy mention anything about them being the most powerful witches in the world? or can other witch lines be just as powerful, i mean surely theres some family lines say for instancd all the way in say Africa who are witches with gifts just as good. I mean they never left San Francisco, so there are other witches out there who are more than capable of fighting demons in other parts of the world. Just not Charmed strong.
Better get off to bed soo . Its late and im not sure i made sense lol

Here's what Phoebe says the Book of Shadows says: Source: charmedscripts.tv/something_wicca.htmI take that to mean that other lines could produce witches who are more powerful - as long as they're younger than the Charmed Ones, which means I've been wrong all along about the Jenkinses - their line could've been set up to produce the most powerful warlocks the world has ever known, the ones who might have been destined to destroy the Charmed Ones - as they did in 'Kill Billie, Vol 2.' (remember, I count 'Forever Crap' as Piper's delusion as she and the other two die after that attack.) But I also definitely take it to mean that none of the Charmed Ones' children could be more powerful than the Charmed Ones. In fact, I still take it to mean that the Charmed Ones' children would still be witches, but would never have the three Warren powers - they'd have different ones, setting them up for a different destiny. So no moving things with the mind, no seeing the future and no stopping time. Other powers like freezing molecules or speeding up molecules or fire-starting or empathy or levitation or astral projection or other powers instead. How 'bout you? How would you interpret Phoebe's words? Since they're part of the series premiere, those words are what set up the Charmed mythology that should've been followed for the rest of the series.

I would have preferred if they'd not been done at all.
The Valkyries could make one think they were watching American's Next Top Model by mistake.

Aww so they did use powerful witches the world has ever known. That still means that others can be powerful from other lines just younger than the halliwells. So the Jenkins could have been set up to face these powerful witches. I see it as nobody has come before the Halliwells time as powerful witches. The prophecy makes it appear that no powerful witches have been seen before them and nobody after. The children can be witches and as you said have gifts not like the three Melinda Warren powers.

All this minutia is a big reason why that, should a new Charmed series ever happen, it would be better just to hit the reset button and start again.
Only this time make surer that the white lighters and Elders do not exist.

I agree with you In Charmed universe there are powerful witches, like the Jenkins or Marx family, but the Charmed Ones were meant to be the most powerful of all time and not only through the Power of Three, in Morality Bites, though they were far from magic, they were extraordinarily powerful None of their children can be as powerful as them, Wyatt is the exception because he was born in a magical day who gave him an innate ability to use magic, which instead his mother and her sisters had to learn to practice For this reason, I wasn't upset because of the flash forward of Forever Charmed, the sisters had children, it is normal, it's not guaranteed that they themselves will be witches, it's certain that they will never be like their mothers Re watching the episodes, I realized how many things are said and written and are just fans'convictions For example, no one has ever said that the sisters had a destiny to fulfill Other example, the prophecy about Wyatt says only that the magic will stop at the birth of a child: ambiguous information, indeed Crone'll look into in order to understand how much power the child may possess And the simple formula Twice Blessed, typical blessing of the medieval poetry, became a title linked to having as parents a Whitelighter and a witch

Which Mythology period did you like the best and why? I liked a lot the monsters of the first two seasons I love Greek mythology and its complexity of thought, related to the birth of philosophy and I hate the way it has been trivialized, but that it's not a Charmed mistake only, too many Tv show writers confuse Olympus with Disneyland

You're so right about that. But Charmed is the first show I've watched that mixed up Valkyries for Amazons. I'm sure it's just so they could use "Valhalla of the Dolls" as a title, just like "Oh, My Goddess!" when those three were so obviously not the Greek Titans who were beaten by the Greek gods, not the Elders.
