I use to not like season 2 after the darker season one and 3. But now I feel like it's one of the strongest seasons where the one offs are the best. Three now to me is dull and lacking energy. Feels very bland. If the show was canceled what better way to end it then with the sisters saving the world.

Nope, they didn't portray older FEMALE characters very well (think of the difference between how they portrayed Grams and how they portrayed Victor...) or teenagers (think of all of the sisters when they were shown as teens, Aviva before the ending, Jenny, Kyle the Chosen One, Chris - he said he was in his twenties; I don't believe him because he acted like a teenaged brat, Billie -ditto, etc.) very well at all.

I still LIKE IT as a season but over the years it's the season I've grown most critical of. The other seasons have relatively stayed the same.

Still love it. Nothing has changed with me. Yes, a few stinkers in the season with not so good episodes, and I didn't enjoy the love triangle arc, but overall I still love it.

I still dislike it. Dan Gordon annoyed me the whole time he appeared on screen, and I just can't stomach S2 too much because of it.

Aaeiyn Avatar Aug 23, 2021 11:27:01 GMT 13 Aaeiyn said: I do believe it is a fan favorite (not me, but other Charmed fans). I do understand the opinions of others in expressing enjoying the sisterly dynamic (which I do agree with), but I can't help my distaste towards the Dan Gordon character. I'm being generous, when I say if we had to have had Dan around, I would've preferred if he dated Phoebe, instead. I think there was a lot of potential there, that didn't see the light of day. Instead, they decided to pair the guy with somebody who he has ZERO capabilities with. Yes me too.
I would have preferred Dan dating Phoebe until the mid-Season finale.
I am rewatching Season 2 at the moment and the first couple of episodes (except Morality Bites and They're Everywhere) feel so disjointed. Like there were too many writers in the room.
1) Watching Piper go to and from Leo makes me not enjoy her character. I feel like Dan was intended for Phoebe and then the Painted World/The Devils music somehow flip it around.
2) Piper is the one who needed a smart spell when the building code needed to get up to scratch and its would have made more sense in The Painted World if Phoebe got stuck in the painting, and Dan asking Phoebe for help with Jenny's sex ed homework off the back off the tampon advice in the previous episode.
3) Piper is romantically involved with the mortgage broker, Leo and Dan. And Phoebe calls her sexually over due in the sex department in the premier - when Leo came back at the end of Season 1 and there would have been Josh (who she was also complaining about at the end of Season 1). It makes me think how much sex Phoebe was having off-screen with people we didn't know about if she said Piper was overdue in the sex department.
I think this is the point that Brad Kern started to take more control of the show. 4) It seems like there is an idea to have Grams at the beginning of Season 2 in Witch Trial And Mo/Patty at the Mid Season finale - to keep the family history vibe going.
5) I know that through the documentaries that Billy Drago (Barbus) were friends and Brad would have bought him back for the Mid Season premier Ms Hellfire.
6) There is also a transition after the Mid-Summer break form Warlocks/Bad Witches to Demons. The show is slowly evolving.
23. 2-1 30 Sep 99 Witch Trial 24. 2-2 07 Oct 99 Morality Bites 25. 2-3 14 Oct 99 The Painted World 26. 2-4 21 Oct 99 The Devil's Music 27. 2-5 04 Nov 99 She's a Man, Baby, a Man! 28. 2-6 11 Nov 99 That Old Black Magic 29. 2-7 18 Nov 99 They're Everywhere 30. 2-8 09 Dec 99 P3 H2O 31. 2-9 13 Jan 00 Ms. Hellfire

I commented this as a "bookmark", so I can go into more detail on my "from dislike to like" journey. It's important to note, that my favorite sister used to be Piper, and I really don't like her, in S2. Because of that, it was hard for me to get into S2 because I still don't care for Prue and back then I didn't like S4E14-S5E14 Phoebe and felt Phoebe wasn't enough of a reason to endure S2. Now, that I've ditched Piper and love Phoebe, again (including S4E14-S5E14), I can appreciate S2 better. I always felt like S2 was Phoebe's strongest season, and I'm happy to enjoy watching it. I don't dislike Prue as much, but I feel like S2 Prue is so random and isn't the same Prue established in S1. IDK what S2 Prue's angle was, but she seemed to be the "background/irrelevant" sister, the same way S1 Piper was, IMO. Just kinda there and floating around with some minor BF storylines via Jack and Bane. Just like S1 Piper had with Leo and Josh. S2 feels like they forgot Prue existed so most of the work was done with Phoebe and Piper. I digress, and (OFC) Piper still irks me, in this season, but at least this season remembered about Phoebe who makes this season exciting. Not to mention a more interesting take with Phoebe's premonitions, this season. S1 was all about trying to stop future events (with the occasional "past" premonition here and there), S2 felt more in tuned with "past events" vs "future events". There were "future events", yes, but I feel like S2 focused more on "past events". I mean, it's how S2 was introduced, so LOL That's my "more detailed response", on why I changed my mind.

Despite the love triangle, I do still love S2.

Can someone please tell me what the episode is where Prue and Piper share a very sweet scene backstage at P3? I seem to remember Prue wearing a white dress and I think it's Season 2, although it could also be Season 3. The scene I refer to is among my favourites of Prue and Piper together, excelling in chemistry.

I'll need to make GIFs of it, at a later time.

I liked S2 when I first watched it but after a few rewatches I love it! It has so many fantastic episodes! I literally only dislike one or two.

Feels very bland. If the show was canceled what better way to end it then with the sisters saving the world. I mean yes, you could argue that the season does or should finish at 2x21 or 2x22. Season 2 is a 'double' starter season. It starts at Witch Trial and then the endless summer continues when Ms Hellfire brings the show back in its 2nd season half opener. The girls are made to look slightly more promiscuous/provocative/slender and the mix of Charmed's sexiness and valour come centre stage. You are right Season 2 is the best for the 1-off episodes: Chick Flick, Ms Hellfire, P3H20, Murphy's Luck. The individual episodes nail the premise of the show and its keeping in line with the demon-of-the-week storyline. Unfortunately there is a love triangle that could have been a Season long romance for Alyssa Milano (Dan) that does spoil Season 2 but Holly Marie combs and Brian Krause are able to pull through the performances. Prue takes out a new lease in life which is relatable after the trauma of the last few years of her life. Phoebe takes a baby-step forward with responsibility, continuously showing up to school and to study, really taking an interest in what she is learning. Overall great season, probably the 2nd best.

The Cinematography is different. Its so bright and the show is trapped in an endless summer. I miss the way it was in S1. It fit the show more.

Piper and the love triangle brings the season down. Yeah if dan was a short term interest for Phoebe, that would have worked so much better. Leo not being allowed to date Piper was conflict enough without there having to be a love-triangle. Some really good stand alone episodes Chick Flick, Morality Bites, They're Everywhere, Murphys Luck and episodes which have 2 halves e.g. Hellfire and Give Me a Sign / Awakened and Astral Monkey... a prequel to the serial nature that was to follow in Season 3 and 4. I liked the guest stars a lot. The actors/actresses, for Jack Sheridan, Dan Gordon, Maggie Murphy, Misha Collins, French Stuart, The Mrs. Doubtfire child services actress for Aunt Gail. The innocents are great as well as the demons and lesson episodes. Another let down of the season is that the production order is different to the airing order, hence Phoebe's reoccurring personal gain and even more awkward Dan-Piper stuff.
