I honestly feel that Billie wasn't that bad because she at least cared about helping innocents whereas the charmed ones were more focused on having "normal lives" than helping innocents and the greater good.

I honestly feel that Billie wasn't that bad because she at least cared about helping innocents whereas the charmed ones were more focused on having "normal lives" than helping innocents and the greater good. Honestly, it's why I didn't like her - she pointed out how horrible the ones who should've been the stars of the show - the Charmed Ones - were. And in the final season, we wanted the Charmed Ones to be the ones we liked. There's also the fact that Kaley Cuoco is a great comedic actress but not a great dramatic actress. Had they used someone else, I think more fans would've liked her more. There was also the fact that most fans knew that we only got Season Eight because they were using it to set up a spin-off for Billie when most fans at that time wanted one for the Charmed Sons instead and they didn't want to like her and didn't. Fortunately Drew Fuller didn't want to be part of that so we got 'Supernatural' instead - The Charmed Sons would've been stuck with all of the consistency problems of "Charmed" while 'Supernatural' was able to start fresh. Besides, with all of Wyatt's powers, it would've gotten boring very quickly and probably not last more than one year. So much better to let fanfics fill that need. I saw a suggestion somewhere that had Billie's story been played earlier people would've liked the character of Billie more. Say that rather than Season Five ending with something like 'Oh, My Goddess!' you had it end with something like 'Something Wicca This Way Goes?' leading into Billie's season as the sixth season with it ending with something like 'Oh, My Goddess!', so Chris' season would be the seventh season, while Season Seven would be the eighth and final season with it ending with something like 'Forever Charmed'. If that had happened, I truly don't think fans would've hated Billie as much as so many of them do.

She wasn't a warloch as her sister but in any case I don't like her, mostly because I hate her obsession in hunting demons as if it were a sport
Moreover, Billie is a person too easily led, and I hated her debut dressed as Cat Woman

Maybe the character wasn't bad but her introduction could have been better, I have to agree. I think that's it what most fans irritated at first. Billie took the place of Leo as it seems and that furied most fans as well. It were little things but so Billie wasn't that much accepted in the fandom.
As for Kaley: She started as a comedian but playing a different role always helps, yet now she is most famous for "Big Bang Theory". Some irony here.

Billie was too over the top I could like a sweet and candid young witch in search of her kidnapped big sister, not a too powerful demons hunter demons

I didn't hate the idea of the characters dears, I just didn't like how they wrote Billie. I can't fault the actress, because she is great in comedy. Maybe she just was miscast in this role.

Kaley was certainly misscast as Billie Granny and is much better suited as Penny in the BBT.

Marnette was the worst actress, her delivery was so stiff at times and others, too over the top. Either way she seemed constipated.

Agreed with the others. Billie had some conceptual potential in that she represented a benighted youthful foil to a trio of women who had grown cynical over the years for the responsibility and trauma precipitated by their creed. Had the execution been more thorough with a more gradual progressive development of her relationship with the sisters and a turncoat grievance-based realisation of their damnable antipathy for the position they elected to keep then she may have been looked upon as the reversal-role protagonist seeking to fill the role her mentors have abandoned while holding them accountable for some of their more questionable choices and actions.

Billie is not a witch, she is a demon hunter who begins to mature a little with Leo's help She is a puerile, immature young woman, unfair to her parents, easy to manipulate The bond between her and Christy, of which she had removed the existence, is excessive, it reveals or a Bille's istyerical trend or a mental manipulation by Christy I prefer the second one
Perhaps the writers hoped to revive the beloved and popular theme good sibling vs evil sibling, if the Charmed fans liked Billie and they'ld start a new show about these two sisters

That's the whole reason Billie was bad honestly, as well as the "fake identities" plot line they only exist to beatdown a narrative that's already been established since season 5, the Charmed Ones are self centered. Not to mention there was NO reason for her to exist for that point. As for Billie only caring about innocents at that point, well my problem with that is that it's only the first few episodes where her saving innocents and the Charmed Ones actively trying to preach to her its wrong. Afterwards Billie becomes less about the focus of helping innocents and she just switches motivations to finding her sister, which just amounts to her personality up until she finds her. She's pretty much as one tracked minded as the Charmed Ones the moment she strive to find Christy comes into play after her focus on "fighting demons" stops being a priority which is only 7 or 8 episodes in, not even half the season.
That's really all Billie had in comparison, which says a lot as far as how far the CO's have fallen (especially when they put their priorities over help finding her sisters, mainly Piper who shows the most resistance in not only viewing Billie as their friend, but the moment she inconveniences their normal life goal and becomes the ultimate power has no second thoughts to vanquish her), but doesn't do anything besides that. More likable than the sisters sure (Paige is debatable, Billie is more likable than Paige during the first 7 or 8 episodes, then once Henry comes into the picture Paige comes back and Billie just finds her sister and becomes an idiot), but as a character she's still bleh.
Especially since it never feels like she needed any sort of guidance or training, aside from rushing into things head on what did she really need to learn? She was already using advanced methods of scrying, could already master her power to effectively take on demons on her own and do cool flips and tricks. She even has a Zen master train her Projection power within one episode, making her whole role in assisting the CO's pointless. If I wanted to see Piper and Phoebe be selfish I'll just watch Season 5-7 for Piper or 3-7 for Phoebe. We don't need Billie to serve a narrative already told. Once she finds Christy she comes off as an idiot.

What's wrong with having a normal life not filled with battling demons? Did it ever occurred to anyone that Billie or the Halliwells should CHOOSE how they want to live their lives, instead of insisting that they be "protectors of innocents", because they have magical powers?

NO, just Kaley and her inability to act.

I've seen her in 8 Simple Rules and The Big Bang Theory. She can act. Just not in drama like Charmed. And the character and how she was written were terrible. Sure, with an actress who fit the genre...but that wouldn't change that Billie was a terrible character. The actress was just a small reason why the character fell flat.

She was just too much Brad Kern's Mary Sue - what he would've liked the sisters to be like - while Charmed fans wanted the last season to be about the sisters, not someone we never heard about.
But I do think a lot of the problem was hiring a cute blonde comedic actress to play a dramatic role.

Billie’s character wasn’t bad. She was just written in badly and she was around for way too long. With how she was written, she should have gone after episode 5 “rewitched”, and just remained as one of Paiges charges. Especially since she wasn’t related to the sisters in any way. I think that if she was written in as someone related to them and tied into the family tree somehow, like from a line of distant cousins etc., it would have made more sense of her being around all the time and she may have had a better chance of being accepted by the viewers. We already know that there were relations in their lineage that dabbled in different forms of magic, not all good. Could have made a good story to look into and maybe the big evil could have been coming from a potentially dark side of their family they didn’t know of and didn’t see coming.

I like the way you did it, GZV, where you made Billie and Christy the granddaughters of Penny's non-magical brother so they were the Charmed Ones' second cousin, or the way I did in where she was also Penny's granddaughter, but through her fourth husband, not her first, so she was a half-cousin. I even would've preferred her as a future version of Phoebe's daughter, named after Billy Applegate from 'Chick Flicks'. That's who I thought she was when she first showed up and I was disappointed when we found out that she wasn't related at all. But I like your ideas in this post, too.
