I see dear that they have made many changes to character names. But I'm really wanting to know exactly how they are handling Macy's half-sister status. That is the one thing I really want to know the most. I would find that very predictable, and you just know they will play up the 'outsider' arc and have her falling for someone. Which I truly don't want to see at all. Maybe it turns out she *is* a full sister, who just for some reason wasn't raised with her other sisters. But it depends on the age difference between Macy and Mel. But funny enough, Mel and Margarita (Hate this name change) also have a big age difference. So maybe the mother had Macy when she was a teenager and had to give her up. We'll have to wait and see dear. Maybe I've missed something or am being extremely thick, but isn't Macy half-black? Won't she definitely be a half-sister then? Imagine if they'd made each sister a different race, with different fathers but the same mother, and they would all be strangers until they discovered their powers. I don't know if the more traditional/conservative viewers would like that idea, but it would maybe be an interesting take on a reboot. I think its very possible that the mother had Macy young, and then the other two girls later. Can't wait to find out what the family dynamics will be.

We don't know the actual ethnicities of the characters. Can just speculate due to the actors.
We'll probably only actually find out if the pilot actually clearly states the parentage.

How about we get the mother.

All the love interests. Yay. How about we get the mother. I think they already have the mother. I also think the mom is played by Andrea Navedo who plays Xiomara-Jane's mom on Jane The Virgin. Even before this reboot news and Jane, she was a big fan of the show. She follows and likes just about every Charmed page on Instagram. I think it would be a big miss opportunity if she's not involved in this somehow. Plus she looks the part. She and the actress playing Mel kinda favor each other.

That's true dear, we don't have any details about ethnicities yet. Like AW said, it depends if the pilot states what it is and if they didn't have a specific casting for race, then the script wouldn't state it either. That might be dealt with as the show get's going. All the love interests. Yay. How about we get the mother. I think they already have the mother. Guess we'll find out, I know casting for the mother since she is only a guest star that might come out while filming on the pilot happens. I wonder if the reboot will have her appearing as a ghost like Grams and Patty did later on. But we might be treated to much more flashbacks using her, showing her connection and life in the town maybe.

I’ve been thinking about the possibilities that could arise from having Margarita be telepathic if the writers choose to depict the power in a thoughtful way. They are so many potentially innovative battle/confrontation scenes that could be written around this power. For example, Margarita could manipulate an adversary’s mind to make herself invisible to them, she could disable their hearing or even delve into their thoughts, extract their deepest fear and bring it life in a terrifying illusion, much like Barbas. She could read the mind of a martial arts trainer and become an expert within hours, or even deliver deadly “shocks” to the brain, completely disabling her enemies. My hope is that they really explore this power and do it justice, rather than reducing it to only ‘OHMAGAD, she totally thought my hair was not hot!’ or have her lazily redirecting fireballs back at demons.

You wouldn't want Margarita hurting family members, friends or innocents physically or mentally especially when she first has the power and can't control it so they'd have to becareful how they portrayed it obviously and have a good teacher who can help her to learn it then.

No, just demons and warlocks. I agree, a feat like that would be something she would develop down the line. She wouldn't be able to do it straightaway.

I wonder - would you guys have been open to the idea of the reboot featuring four friends instead of sisters? Initially I thought the sister route would always be better than a "found family" set-up, but now I think it could've been a refreshing take on the show's premise. It would be a sufficient change from Classic Charmed to stand apart. I know this idea might have felt like a Craft rip-off, but my vision of it would be of four close friends who perhaps have known each other since childhood. After all, it is not uncommon to get along better with your friends than your own siblings. Plus, when it's family, you pretty much "have" to stay united, but with friends there's always that risk of falling out and never speaking again. Imagine how the Charmed Ones would cope having to work at their friendship in order to build up that family-like bond and strengthen the Po3.

I'm honestly really looking forward to seeing how this reboot turns out. The team behind it are really good and the writing style could be ideal for Charmed. The actors that I know are really good (not that Charmed ever had a problem with casting talent) and I'm interested to see what they make of it.
Supposedly they'll be some sort of connection to the old series, but I dunno if that's confirmed or just fan rumour. Either way, I think it sounds promising so far.

What would make these friends special? Th Power of Three. The Charmed Ones. They were unique. Their power together was the strongest. Thei bloodline was special.

I guess these friends would all just come from three or four separate powerful families, but collectively together they are strong. Maybe link the elements of magic somehow into it. I don't know Classic Charmed got it right. But that would make a fun series if they did grow up together and felt like sisters and family and not three unknown strangers coming together. Maybe you could also have three cousins instead alas Pardon My Past. That could be different.

That seems to be kind of how The Secret Circle tried to do it. So if I look at it that way. Meh.
I am all for a friends-who-are-practically-sisters. And if it's four, their powers could be based on the elements. But the concept of tje most powerful witches and TCO does not really work. Unless it's related to the elements.

Maybe you could also have three cousins instead alas Pardon My Past. That could be different. Totally. I remember somebody commenting ages ago (can't remember who it was now) on how each of the sisters' powers were loosely related to the 'three essentials of magic' that were mentioned by Phoebe in the pilot: feeling (Phoebe's premonition/psychic/sensory powers), timing (Piper's freezing power) and phases of the Moon (Prue's movement-based powers) and that always stayed in my mind. It's certainly a cool theory. Perhaps if the had made the reboot about four friends, each member could descend from an ancient coven whose leader possessed an 'essential power'. The four powers being awakened together would make the friends 'Charmed' in this scenario. Yeah, that's true. It would be similar to the Secret Circle, except they could actually be proper friends, rather than frenemies and arguing love interests

Also, four wouldn't be Charmed since the saying "threes a charm." So they'd have a different name. Bit could say inspired by Charmed. And it'd ne way more interested in a show like that.

Although that doesn't seem to be what we're going to get since they seem to be stealing the concepts of "most powerful witches ever", "the Power of Three" and "The Charmed Ones." Everything I've read about the pilot sounds like it's going to be much too scary for me. So I'll probably jsut "watch" it via everyone else's reviews while loving Classic Charmed, especially up to the point when Piper explodes a watermelon and they jump into an alternate universe where the only thing similar is the name of the characters.

I don't like the sounds of that, they would do SO much better if they came up with their own version of all the above you mentioned Es. Why can't they be completely new, and the only thing that has any connection to Charmed is three sisters who happen to be witches, and go from here.
