Yes, Salem, it ran for 3 seasons. (Think it's on Netflix now). First two seasons were very good in my opinion. Very different to Charmed though, definitely more of an adult horror. Yeah, it did look good, but I tend to lose interest with horror tv series. I think they are difficult to sustain story-wise long-term. Honestly, that definitely seemed to be the case with Salem. Loved the first two seasons, but couldn't get through season 3. It's a shame, but can't say I was surprised at the cancellation. It was definitely a brutal show. The witch killing is usually graphic. Plus there are bad witches who use some pretty nasty curses.

So many shows with Witch themes don't last long. Salem had 3 seasons, Witches of East End had 2 and Secret Circle had just 1.
Seems that television just hasn't found anything that lasts for at least 7 or 8 seasons since the days of Sabrina and Classic Charmed from the 90s. So these two reboots will stand the test of time?
I didn't know Salem was that brutal. WOW!!!

I think Charmed came at exactly the right time. Female led genre shows were very in and Buffy-mania was in full effect. I think now could be a good time for the reboot, because there does seem to have been a bit of resurgence in recent years. More people are wanting strong female role models and stories about sisterhood again. Previously, a lot of the successful genre shows have been male led- Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, the majority of the DC shows etc.
Yeah, Salem was a rated 18 here, so it's definitely not a family show haha.

You raise a good point there, willow. Maybe in these MeToo/TimesUp times, female-led shows is just what people need on TV.
The thing about horror tv shows is that they become kind of depressing after a while. With absolutely no levity, a lot of people find them too dark to carry on with.

But its still very early as the article says. And the finished product of the pilot isn't even all ready yet, so I wouldn't say it's the top of the list. Just early buzz pre the finished pilot filmed stage?

Just early buzz pre the finished pilot filmed stage? I still think all of the buzz is mainly because it's called "Charmed". We'll see how much buzz it gets once the pilot comes out.

Buzz is because many do not want it.
We'll see what happens next month.

Pilots 2018: More Very, Very Early Buzz
I think this is a lock unless the early screeners and reviewers of the finished product hate it when they view it in the room.
Isn't this how the Classic Charmed pilot got changed after being watched by critics and screeners, where they recast some actors to the finished pilot. Maybe the reboot might see some people who watch it, not liking some of the actors in it.
I wonder if anybody will be recast like the Classic Charmed pilot saw Andy and Phoebe being changed? I think one of the actors in the reboot was pretty horrible and rude to fans online?

And I especially hope that we don't have to wait til the DVD comes out before we can watch it. Me too. Hopefully, it leaks online somewhere. It's too bad in general the Charmed DVDs didn't get to have extras on every season. But I actually am sadder the Women of Charmed television specials didn't make the set of S2 & S5. I'm more interested in hearing some of the earlier writers doing commentaries on the episodes, as opposed to the actors. Since without Shannen being present in them, I see no purpose in having just Alyssa and Holly chatting about S1-3 if Shannen isn't included.

It's ridiculous that there were no Charmed extras until the last season. You can go on Youtube and there's several featurettes, interviews etc. that were already made, they would have just had to pay to use them. Same with the unaired pilot, there was no reason for it not to be on the DVD aside from Paramount being cheap and lazy. At least CBS took over later on so we eventually got something.

I'm hoping that with this being a college themed reboot, that we get to see episodes like "Ex Libris"

Charmed really got it the worst for the DVDs. Seeing as it took them forever to release them because of music rights. Every show was already starting to bring out DVDs in 2000 and 2001. Yeah, you can go to Youtube and watch them, and I think the Women of Charmed specials are on Youtube too. I'm hoping that with this being a college themed reboot, that we get to see episodes like "Ex Libris" I would hope they do. Hoping this is where we can meet innocents. I just hope we don't sink to Animal Pragmatism levels or some of the cringe-worthy sorority stories. But I'm fully convinced we will get a plot where the sorority on campus is actually recruiting college students to join a cult worshipping a demon or something.

I remember having to special order two dvds of extras and bloopers back in the days on thewb boards that someone was selling . Most of them can be found on YouTube now.

No animal pragmatism. “Pardon my past” was also a good college based episode. When prue follows phoebe to class and tries to sit in the class with her and phoebe refuses. But her evil past still tries to kill her in the class. Lifts her out of her chair, and slams her on the floor trying to choke her.

Especially when the complete series set offered extras the stand-alone sets didn't have them. I really get mad when they do this. But as you said, Youtube has them now to watch. Plus I find that most shows have all the bloopers on Youtube that some dvd sets never released. Charmed really got it the worst for the DVDs. Seeing as it took them forever to release them because of music rights. Every show was already starting to bring out DVDs in 2000 and 2001. I remember that too when Prue came to campus to babysit and look out for her sister. I really actually found that to be very shocking and Ex Libris was my favorite college based episode with Phoebe, at the library, that is the sort of plots I hope the reboot does when they can meet innocents this way. I also expect a ghost plot where a former student is haunting the halls of the campus and the killer is someone who attends the college.

Not sure how reliable this is. So take it with a grain of salt.
Fun fact: Valerie Cruz previously appeared in Nip/Tuck, opposite Julian McMahon.
I'll still trust all the information Willow had kindly provided us than this source.
