And I heard something about Fresh Prince.
No thank you.
And we already have continuations of Full House ("Fuller House"), Will & Grace, and Rosanne.
Just watch reruns, people!

Why can't they come up with something fresh and new? Or if they do, why can't they give it its own name rather than try to cash in on the popularity of another show?

It seems dears were in an era where reboots are the new trend. I'd really appreciate seeing some more original content, but most of the reboots and such are all on network television, while cable television is doing so much better with interesting and unique programming.
I don't understand why they don't want to come up with something fresh and new.
Secret Circle and Witches of East End failed to last long enough as new witch-themed shows. Probably why The CW is not *willing* to take a risk at doing a brand new show and wanting to cash in on the popularity of another show, thinking this will work better than attempting to do a brand new show. *Sigh*

Coming up with something new actually requires some degree of effort.

You’ll get a huge initial viewing of the first or two premiere episodes and when the original dedicated viewers don’t see the original cast they may tune off. Especially those who haven’t been on social media like us keeping up with the news and end up hearing about it when the adds come up on tv.

New 90210 anyone?
They had Jennie and Shannen for an episode in the beginning and nada. While also messing up the ships people as red from the original.

It's too bad they didn't wait for a true 90210 sequel, one where the children of the originals went to school. I remember hearing people say they stopped watching after a few seasons when they dropped everybody who appeared from the original show.
Didn't Melrose Place also come back on The CW and bombed hard after one season.

Yep. Melrose I think just lasted a season.
The only real tie in for 90210 was Kelly and David's half sister who was in high school.

That's pretty low for a tie in with the originals but again not enough time passed since it ended for realistically children of the original to attend high school yet. Maybe they were better off holding off 90210 for another decade. But eight years is very soon for a reboot after the original ended. Fuller House waited 20 years after the original series ended, at least they had a big gap, unlike many reboots today. I'm relieved that many of the reboots they tried to do in the past five years never made it to series. Like Murder She Wrote, Xena, The Munsters, and even The Honeymooners.

I really kind of liked the melrose place reboot. Katie Cassidy’s character Ella was really good. Didn’t care for her as laurel lance on Arrow

It's a cash-in in that these reboots are able land a lucrative deal either from streaming platforms/international markets before even airing. Dynasty landed this sort of deal despite the horrendous ratings. If that one doesn't get axed then that only means that CW is getting a lot from its streaming deal from Netflix. Continuation is not guaranteed to work. Will and Grace started well but look at it now. It's doing mediocre numbers. Getting all those old stars wasn't cheap especially with those ratings it's now currently pulling. There's no way that NBC is not disappointed with those numbers. Same for The X-files. It's ratings are in mud for S2. Those nostalgia only work at the start then begins to wane off. From what I know, that Melrose Show was from the Ostroff era where CW prioritizes with rich white girl shows. The current CW President is now a guy and he usually goes for the cheapest option.

Yeah, well, it looks like Hollywood has no new ideas when they look for old shows to be renewed. I don't know all mentioned but some. Let some old shows be old!

From what I know, that Melrose Show was from the Ostroff era where CW prioritizes with rich white girl shows. The current CW President is now a guy and he usually goes for the cheapest option. That does happen dear, most of these revivals gain attention early, and then lose steam and people lose interest. They work better as just a one-off, and not bringing the show back for another long-running life. I'm not too familiar with streaming deals, but I remember my granddaughter telling me that Riverdale had some Netflix deal, and between the first and second season they gained new fans (when Netflix released the episodes after the season ended) that carried over to Season 2 and saw ratings rise. Might be what they hope Dynasty does and Charmed. But we don't know if Charmed the reboot will have some type of Netflix deal attached, that also includes a deal for Charmed. But we have no idea how the new audience who never saw Charmed will respond to the Charmed reboot. Their previous witch show Secret Circle failed. Have any of their new Fantasy/Supernatural Drama shows been performing well in the last few years?

Perry Mason was one of my favorite shows when I was a small child and there are still reruns of it all the time even now, not sure how I feel about it being rebooted (especially after so long). :|

For some reason I could never get into Perry Mason. It was always coming on very late at night. The black and white and all the talking always put me to sleep. And it always came on after I had just watched something exciting in color. Was always my queue to go to bed 😊

I've seen many reruns of older shows in my childhood too. But being born in the early 80s, I wasn't that far behind the era those aired. Of the ones you mentioned MacGyver, I've seen in addition to a few others from the 70s. The older animated shows from the 60s and 70s were ones I grew up with fondly.

I loved the older animated shows, too, like Looney Tunes and the Hanna-Barbera cartoons. I was born in the mid-nineties, so shows like MacGyver were already old in comparison by the time I was around five.
