Oh dear... I agree with all of you, really not liking these names changes. 'Margarita' and 'Vera', seriously? It sounds like a tacky cocktail menu. Did the producers not think we would notice for ourselves that the girls are Latina without ridiculously stereotypical names? I liked Pruitt as well, it felt like a name that could've come from the old Salem colonial families. Vera sounds like a first name, it lacks punch.

I wish they'd kept Pruitt, therefore implying that the girls are descended both from colonial British witches and also Native American/Latina witches from South America. I think that mixed heritage would've been fun avenue to explore.

Like others, the name changes from Madison to Margarita I dislike.
I wonder what the name of the mother will be, and if she will have a name beginning with an M?

I really wish they'd dropped the same letter naming practice this time. It feels an unnecessary thing to keep, especially as the names are a bit... crap.

Someone who shares my same sentiments. If I had a chance I would rename the "Macy" character I would give her a unisex name like "Rowan". The "Melanie" character would now be "Dinah" and the "Madison" will be called "Melanie" cause I think it fits her better. I'm not mad about about the Macy & Mel names but somehow those names don't pack a punch like P4.

I think so many people are totally over the same letter names. It only works if it's twins.

Who names someone Margarita after the cocktail drink. LOL that's the first thing that popped into my head reading the name. I think they could bring in the mythology of La Brujeria. They just better do their research and do a good job of it. Because we all know Charmed failed sometimes attempting mythologies on Charmed and sometimes did it cliche or offensive to some cultures. But if the people on Jane the Virgin got the Latina stuff right on that show, then I have faith they will do the same on the reboot. Yeah I watch Jane and the writers seem to be very respectful when it comes to Latina culture so I'm definitely not worried about mythology or Latina stuff. The name Margarita is the only thing irking me right now. Well, that's hopeful. I think so many people are totally over the same letter names. It only works if it's twins. *nods* Exactly. I haven't met too many people or families in my life who have same letter names, except twins myself.

Jennie Urman (the creator of the reboot) asked Jessica Capshaw (who was recently let go from Grey's Anatomy) if she could write something for her and she replied yes ! Could she end up on Charmed ?

Hope she can keep the characters the same. That was Charmed's true biggest problem - too many cooks (writers) spoiled the broth (show) as each wrote the sisters differently. Hopefully she'll let Jennie edit her stuff to make the characters fit the ones Jennie has in mind.

I'm sure having someone who is truly invested in the project and story unlike Brad Kern who was only hired to help Connie since she couldn't do a show on her own, and that was her story, not his. That will help this stay grounded. Although I see in some articles they say the show is created by three women Jennie Snyder Urman, Jessica O’Toole & Amy Rardin. But since The pilot will be written by Jane the Virgin writers Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin, and is based on a story by Jennie Snyder Urman. I presume that means Jennie is the one in charge as the true creator right? But would be interesting if out of those three women each based one of the sisters on themselves.

Well I hope they can get the sisters right and stay true to the characters, and if that is true that the women write them with what Jennie has in mind. I wouldn't want the reboot to suffer the same way Classic Charmed did.

Keep in mind that the lineage of the actor has nothing to do with the lineage of the character. Despite all being white, Shannen, Holly and Alyssa all had totally different lineages but we accepted them as sisters. In the same way, the actress playing the oldest sister might be half-black, but she looks Latina, like all of them do although only one actually is.
And Margarita (meaning Little Margaret) was a Hispanic name long before it became the name of a drink.
Like I said elsewhere, I think it started out just being a regular Anglo-Saxon family, hence the last name of Pruitt, but when they hired someone who was part Latina everyone was congratulating them for using a minority and suddenly the last name is changed to a Latin name and one of the sisters gets a Hispanic name.
All this happens as it goes from rough draft to pilot to series premiere, like the way that both Andy and Darryl changed from the pilot to the series premiere.

I noticed the actress who is playing Madison on The X-Files season finale tonight. First time I've seen her in anything, she wasn't in it enough though. But I had to take note of her, and she definitely gave me Mexican/Latina vibes. Obviously, we don't know what race the reboot sisters will be.

Brendon Zub, known for starring in Hallmark movies and an appearance in The CW show The 100, has been cast in the possibly recurring role of Detective Bailey, Niko's partner.

Interesting. Could he be the new Darryl essentially. Since Niko feels a little Andy only female.

Cecilia Deacon (brunette) & Natalie Hall (blonde) will guest star in the pilot episode of the reboot of "Charmed". Cecilia will be playing Viv, a member of the sorority, while Natalie will play Lucy, the head of the sorority. It's being implied that one or both will be evil.
