Is this truly a reboot of Charmed or is it one of Buffy?

Is this truly a reboot of Charmed or is it one of Buffy? They better keep their grabby hands away from Buffy. That show is already perfect. No need for reboot.

Sarah Jeffery as Daphne Blake And the orange hair or wig does not suit her.

Sarah Jeffery as Daphne Blake And the orange hair or wig does not suit her. What does this Scooby Doo prequel and her hair have to do with this Charmed reboot? I'm not sticking up for her but most actors can do a lackluster job on one role and knock it out of the park in another. Let's see what she does if they make it to series.

Shannon Chan-Kent mostly known for her voice acting has been cast in the key role of Angela Wu, a young comatose student in the university's lab/hospital.

Any bets a demon put her in a coma. I hope they are packing too much into the pilot.

It has been revealed that Latina actress Valerie Cruz, known for her roles in Nip/Tuck and Dexter has been tapped to play the new Charmed Ones' late mother Marisol Vega, a very skilled and powerful witch.

I'm not hating on any of the girls who have been cast, but does anyone else think Naya Rivera from Glee would've been good in one of the roles? She is Latina and is a good actress.

Naya would've been PERFECT. She would've made a perfect Older or Younger sister. Shame she had to do Step It Up and would never get a chance at this I can definitely see Naya Rivera as Mel, the lesbian activist. But, sadly she's been billed as a "Diva" because of her feud with former co-star Lea Michele. They have since made up but she would've been really good as that character. If I had a chance to recast the girls I would choose Katrina Law (Left) as older long lost sister Macy, Floriana Lima (Middle) as Mel and Victoria Justice (Right) as Maggie. They all give off that Latina/exotic type, they can past for sisters and they're great actresses. View AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentI like all those actresses but just no. They may give off a latina/exotic type but they aint Latina. Having glorified white actors in ethnic roles is a thing of a past and needs to stay that way.

As a black individual myself I hate that. That being said, all the girls I chose have Hispanic/Spanish descent. Plus, even if those girls were cast they could've had played the initial Pruitt Siblings instead of the Veras too.

]I like all those actresses but just no. They may give off a latina/exotic type but they aint Latina. Having glorified white actors in ethnic roles is a thing of a past and needs to stay that way. Latina isn't a race. "Latina" simply denotes ancestry relating to Latina America. "Latina" doesn't mean not "white"; you can fall under any racial classification and still be Latinx. It's a mistake to conflate culture and race. And, arguably, casting actresses who are likely of predominantly Caucasian ancestry in an "ethnic" role (to drum up praise as a bold move in the fight to champion diversity) simply because they fit the inaccurate and stereotypical media depiction of what Latinx people look like, as has been done with this reboot, is no different than your complaints about casting white actors in ethnic roles. If true diversity were that important, why not cast a trio of Afro-Latina sisters instead of the triggered tumblr-esque attempt we're seeing here? Again, Latina/Latino/Latinx isn't a race. It's a culture. Anyone can play a culture. It's called acting.

This is why I dislike the U.S's classification of 'Latino' as an ethnic group. Coming from a Spanish/Portuguese culture doesn't automatically make one "ethnic". But then the same happened to Irish and Italian Americans when they first emigrated to the US.
Anyway, I think any of these girls could've done a good job playing the sisters. It would've been nicer to have a closer resemblance between the actresses, whatever their race. Naya would've been amazing. She does comedy and drama very well.

Of course Latina doesn't mean "not white". Latina is an urban term for a woman or girl of Latin American origin or descent. Florina has had before that she is an Italian-American. Katrina is German, Italian, and Taiwanese, while Victoria is actually half Puerto Rican and thus is a latina....the other two...not so much. Hollywood likes to use actors of Italian descent to play characters of Puerto Rican, etc... descent. You can't just have anyone play a Latina, Blake Lively...not a latina.

And hence the problem of trying to be diverse - suddenly their looks/ancestry/whatever becomes more important than how well they can act and whether they have chemistry. I never thought that outside of dark hair that Shannen, Holly and Alyssa look alike. Their ancestries are totally different. But they were truly written as sisters and truly acted like sisters and had chemistry as sisters and I believed that Prue, Piper and Phoebe were sisters the way I never believed that Piper, Phoebe and Paige were (and for Paige's sake, I was glad - I wouldn't want to be sisters with those other two either).
Just because the ones in Charmed: The Ripoff have some Hispanic blood doesn't mean I can accept them as sisters, not if they're not written as sisters, act like sisters and have chemistry as sisters. Now this is why I'm giving them a half-season - after all, it took Classic Charmed a while to get on its feet, too - but if they aren't written as sisters (with all the conflict that includes - think Prue and Phoebe in Season One...), I can't think of too many plotlines that would interest me enough to want to continue watching.

Charmed Casts Craig Parker as (Villainous?) CEO Alastair CaineSource: TV LineIt looks like the reboot cast their "Rex Buckland" character. I wonder if he'll have a Hannah Webster counterpart? 🤔

Yeah, that was such an obvious REX rip off.
Also, thanks for giving away the villain before the show starts? Seems silly on their part.

Emmanuelle Vaugier who played Dr. Ava Nicolae in the original series has auditioned for a recurring role in the reboot as an elder named Charity who was an old friend to the sisters' mother. There was another video to this one uploaded by another party but was deleted and consisted of 2 more scenes: one where she was explaining the nature/origin of the elders & the other confirming that Macy is definitely not part whitelighter (She made a sly remark that could be a nod to Piper & Leo). Some sources are saying she got the part while others say she didn't. We'll just have to wait & see.

In the light of the new episode, this is what I think of the lead actresses. I have nothing against casting people of other races, in whatever role. However, I'm against: - making casting calls aimed specifically at certain races
- casting people with poor acting ability
The casting of these reboot is a slander against the original cast, against the fandom and against people of the races that have been cast. Why? Because the people in charge of casting went out of their way to cast people of certain races and failed at the job of finding actresses with actual acting ability. I wouldn't have minded having a Candice Patton on the cast or other people who are actually capable of acting. But these ones? Ugh...
