Perhaps this Nexus/Hellmouth whatever could be a doorway to the Underworld or hell that allows evil to walk up above which the sisters have to try close some point in the series unless people think it too Buffy-like of course.

I think linking it to Buffy in any way is the wrong way to go. Although they have already upset Harry Potter fans with Harry's teleportation power.
But you might be right. They most likely will have the Nexus being in the town. Maybe even under the college. Since it's an important part of all the characters who work or go to school at the campus.

Also setting it in a town and around a college than a big city. It feels like they are limiting themselves. How many demons can attack a smaller town, unless the Nexus or something similar is beneath the college campus or town. It means being exposed would be easier than a big city like Classic Charmed. I definitely think going down the Nexus/Hellmouth route would be the best idea for a small-town setting, especially if they're mixing in standalone episodes with arc-episodes. It was believable that the sisters could run into random demons in a big city like SF, but won't be so much in a small, isolated town. That might be what this show does. Since it isn't a big city like SF and the importance of this small town will have to give a reason why evil is lurking around it.
