Some tension between the "eldest" sisters. Still to much music in this show. Will the lab always have an ingredient that they need for a spell? This sex scene is funny, I will give them that but I would've preferred if this happened later in the season when I actually knew Maggie better. A spell to fix a spirit board? Girl go out and buy a new one! I am glad that they are bringing up Macy not feeling like a sister. They havent done "The Power of 3" spell in this show but hopefully this effects the strength of whenever they have to pair up for a spell. Really? This old ass switcheroo plot? They just happen to have the same exact container (a bit different sizes but still). OG Charmed did a similar episode with a truth spell but I like how the OG did it with it actually being a spell instead of a potion that gets mixed up instead of backfires due to personal gain. They seem to have the best grasp on Maggie thus far Her scenes work the best thus far. Seriously! Mama is already back! Why are they rushing things so much in this show! I know...it isnt the original but I cant help it! This was such a major thing for the girls to see their mom again in the original, especially for them to even summon a spirit. Her coming out of the spirit board is different...unnecessary cgi, probably prefer OGs summoning better (it was an actual spell...again) "I only have a few hours>" HOURS. This cant be their mom right? Ugh We had no good lead up to this, I knew this day would come but I was expecting it at least towards the end of the season if anything. Ok this has been a fake out. Mamma Vera is already dead so what is Harry going to do to a spirit? Kill it some more? It was a demon like I initially thought but I still think that this could've been like some episodes down. Thank god for technology in this show. Harry still to involved in them becoming witches. Why is everything so dimly in this show? Everything has been so dark. Is it because Vancouver is always dismal?

I hate the sounds of that. I guess being a small town, they do not have any occult or Wicca stores around or found one yet. The tension between the eldest sisters makes sense.

I think it was a better episode then the pilot, thats for sure. It was tighter and not as all over the place.

I was not impressed with the pilot but decided to give it one more chance to win me over. I watched it online though through a website (I won't say where).
The pacing was much better.
I really loved the demon plot in this one much better. An imposter demon pretending to be their mother and tricking them was perfect.
Just as most of us guessed I'm sure, the message came from the demon, and Harry most likely is their whitelighter.
I liked the tension between Mel and Macy as the oldest sister.
The sisters decided to call Harry “Meghan Markle” to avoid summoning him was pretty funny.
Much better than the pilot. I'm actually glad I decided to give it one more try. I really wasn't happy with the pilot, but much happier with this episode. I might end up watching more now, after all, we'll see.
Of course, Classic Charmed is miles better, no doubt. But I think I did like the demon plot in this one.
They had a mention of a multiverse, Macy made that remark. Wondering if it is just a little gag, or they seriously considering setting up another universe where our Classic Charmed world exists.

Thanks, CharmedFaith and West for these reviews.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed the second episode, and that it was better than the pilot.
So the demon this week was female right? I hope so, be nice for them to not always be male.
So a multiverse might possibly exist, is that how they will tie this to Classic Charmed?

The demon wasnt so much female as it just took on the identity of their mother. So I'd say its genderless. Both demons were. A multiverse is probably the way they'll go which will be fine with me.

As CharmedFaith stated this episode was better than the pilot by miles. I genuinely had a much better time watching this episode. Some things I liked:
- I really liked Maggie putting on gloves in an attempt to damper her powers, although it didn't work it reminded of Phoebe having difficulty getting premonitions while wearing gloves.
- I liked the tension between Macy and Mel. Macy is proving to be my favorite sister out of the NuCharmed ones.
- I found the girls calling Harry "Meghan Markle" pretty funny.
- I could totally see Maggie getting involved with a half-human/half-demon.
- The overall pacing was a lot better than the pilot.
Things I didn't like:
- Maggie's powers suck. And it's highlighting a major problem of this show, the girls aren't the "protectors of the innocent", they didn't save anyone in this episode. The Charmed One's purpose in this show is to stop the
patriarchy apocalypse. - Mel still sucks. If she was straight and dating a man, they've dragged his ass for sleeping with his ex-fiance regardless of how he justified it. I don't see why it's any different for a woman.
- Harry needs to stop explaining everything to them. And mandatory training sessions? Go to hell.

I've heard this second episode was much better by miles. I'm happy to those that did watch it.
If they do have Maggie involved with a demon again, I hope the outcome is different than Phoebe. We don't want Maggie to go down the same path Phoebe did for the worse.
I've heard that Mel is the most disliked sister. For those watching, which sister do you like the best out of the three so far?

What exactly is it about Mel that fans don't like? I remember not liking Prue at all during the first 7 episodes - I didn't really like her until 'The Truth is Out There...and It Hurts' and didn't really *love* her until 'The Witch is Back', mainly because she finally took the stick out of her ass.
Of course, part of my not liking Prue was that I loved Phoebs from when she first found the Book and *hated* the way Prue treated her (the way she treated their dad, too, even when I thought she was right about him)
Most fans seems to like NuPhoebe best. Is this part of why they don't like NuPrue?
Hearing about them, I think I'd like NuPaige best, even if I hate the idea of trying to explain magic - it takes away the fun of it, the way saying Piper froze molecules rather than time ruined her power.

That makes sense now with the demons. It does seem like it. I just do not think they'll get any of the Classic stars back together, to guest star from a multiverse from their world. Holly has burned enough bridges with her hate that I doubt she is the first one to be contacted to show up.

Interesting maybe when enough episodes have aired, someone should start a poll for which sister the people watching the reboot like the best, I'd be interested to see what people think. But I feel it is too premature to do that now until at least half a season airs. Looking at our polls in the sister boards, I know from memory that Phoebe had the best reception (at least at the Cafe who loved her when they first watched her and still love her now) it seems the youngest sister just appears to have had the best reception in both Classic and Reboot at the start. I'm curious what about Mel, people dislike too. What is the reception for Harry, the whitelighter too, I'd love to know? From what I read, most think him telling them what to do is getting old already. From what I read, it appears demon possession is going to be a common part of the show Hopefully, their Source does this, if and when he shows up.

From reading here... For a show about feminism, they sure have their main male "manspaining" all the magic aspects. Seems counterproductive.

I agree that Episode 2 was much better than the Pilot. It had elements of 'The Truth is Out There' (truth serum) and 'The Fourth Sister' (demon in the mirrors). The CGI was much better and the girls' powers seem to be getting equal billing so far, which I appreciate. "Phoebe's" power switch from premonitions to telepathy/empathy is holding up well enough, so I hope that continues. The girls do have chemistry and are strongest in scenes together. The pacing was much better too.
I don't mind Mel. She's basically a mix of S1 Prue and S4 Piper, so firmly in the "Big Sister" role. Macy is basically her foil, much like Paige was Piper's in S4, which leaves Maggie kind of acting as the Middle Sister for now.

Just watched the girls' interview at Paleyfest and it looks like new powers are well on the way as well.

Ratings dipped a bit but still way better then the other new show that premiered on TheCW. Will be interesting to see how Legacies does on Thursday.

Interesting, so she has the worst parts of Prue and Piper, that some Classic fans didn't like. I can see why she is hated. Is the youngest sister being so well received, remind anyone of the good qualities of Phoebe in S1? I keep hearing, she is the favorite sister from the three. Ratings dipped a bit but still way better then the other new show that premiered on TheCW. Will be interesting to see how Legacies does on Thursday. I'd be interested to see. I heard this Legacies show is the one that took the spot of that Supernatural female lead spin-off, and from what I remember, they got ordered to series without a pilot being made, so I wonder if the Supernatural fans will refuse to watch it after. I wonder if Charmed will be the highest rated new show, that I feel The CW might well order a full 22 episodes in November.

As long as Charmed can settle on the viewers it has now it will definitely get a full pick up. Especially if Legacies doesnt perform as well. Though I wonder how it will do in streaming since Charmed is still a powerhouse in streaming.

I'm very happy to see dears, people who watched like the second episode. Just watched the girls' interview at Paleyfest and it looks like new powers are well on the way as well. I hope it isn't too soon dear. Adding new powers in S1 feels too soon. At least let the original gifts advance first. I'll be very interested to see if Premonitions becomes a new power for a sister. Although, I do hope they fix Classic Charmed, and Levitation is the older sisters powers, as an advancement of Telekinesis maybe. I never understood how Astral Projection was Prue's and Levitation was what Phoebe had.

I never understood how Astral Projection was Prue's and Levitation was what Phoebe had. This is so disappointing. I was hoping they'd fix that mistake and let their first powers grow like the Halliwells' powers did in 'Morality Bites' as compared to different powers. Different powers continues to mean that fighting demons will be more important than protecting innocents. But that makes sense since it's so obvious that they're rebooting S4-8, not S1-3, without bringing what fans loved about S1-3 into it.
