I like that we have an innocent that they are so close to but I wish they had waited longer to do this entire plot. Let us get to know the character before she gets possessed and they already deal with such a deadly demon.
Still ridiculous that they have to wait for The Elders before they can do anything. I need them to give these sisters some agency in their witch life ASAP.
Mel's hand gestures for freezing continue to suck. But why is Niko acting like she wasnt at the party?
Are all the white blondes going to be portrayed this way? Oh so Elders arent just higher beings up in heaven but actually have lives in the real world? Interesting.
Why cant Harry or the Elder just do it.....ok WHAT? Their mother was an Elder? And they are already dying off? Oy vey. So many questions about these versions of the Elders....are they dead? They are obviously witches which means is Harry a witch? Do they age? Was their mom already dead? How do you gain Elder status? Where do Whitelighters really reside? Why are Whitelighters dead people but Elders alive? I am trying to do the whole "this is a new show with new rules" but it is really hard for me to wrap this major difference around my head.
They are really going to drive this love triangle home arent they?
Macy...is it smart to bring your magic research to work with you when you dont even have your own office?
Will they ever get the chance to do anything on their own without help?
If this isnt a demonic trick, making the Elders a joke in their 2nd outting isnt really setting them up for any kind of success as characters. So the Elder is just like "oh ok. I was wrong but you still gotta kill her." And she is willing to take away Mel's voice away. Mel vs. the Elders/Whitelighters continue.
Oh that is some ugly wallpaper.
Mel why dont you just do your "Siri show me X spell". Ok and she just did.
How did she just sneak out so easily? The Elders in this series are really useless and it's only 4 episodes in. And Harry is already going against the grain.
So Mama Vera had the power of premonition...
Thus far this is a whole lotta storyline that should be spread out throughout at least 2-3 seasons.
Why cant Harry just "orb" and get the gloves?
Is this guy going to turn out to be a Teen Elder? I'm already over Maggies "forbidden" love triangle storyline with this guy.
So...The Elders dont have the power of transportation themselves?
Maggies telepathy has grown. She can send send her thoughts into someone else.
Harry is RIGHT there. He can heal the detectives injuries easy peasy....why are ignoring this?
Really disappointed that the girl was saved. If we are rushing into things then we should already hit on the "not every innocent can be saved" storyline.
So possessed girl gets saved but cop guy who was suspicious of them gets killed off as fast as he was introduced. All because of an injury to the head?
Sorry but this is a bad crying scene. She isnt even shedding tears. And the elders are really useless. Use the detective to set him up for false murder and then get mind wiped to hand over the demon to a demon!

So Elders are made up of some sort of Witches Council and are witches. If the mother was one.
So how do you become a whitelighter, why are they answering to witches/elders? I'm very confused about the changes.
This is a huge change from the original. So this means no Heavens in this version right?
Looks like from your comments CharmedFaith, the reboot is burning through plots so fast. Will they have enough to keep them going for even three seasons.

Putting the actual plot aside, is anyone able to connect to any of the characters? I'm having the hardest time taking anything seriously. Yes, the Original Charmed didn't have the amazing graphics this reboot does and yes this is more modern. But the acting was believable. I could really get sucked in and this just isn't doing that, giving me that same feeling. Anyone else? I've been waiting for it to happen but to no avail.

For those watching, are the plotlines feeling forced and rushed? I've seen comments online from people who say that the reboot is rushing so fast through four episodes that could be a whole season?
Are the sisters developing nicely, and do you feel each one is getting enough screen time or is one treated as the star like Shannen was in S1?
I do not like the sound of them setting up the death of the detective for the crimes, especially coming from an Elder who is also a witch. Sounds like the parts of Classic Charmed, I hated. But this is a reboot of S4-S8, so I'm not surprised.

This sounds too much like what happened with the sisters setting up Rick Guttridge to be killed in order to save Chris. And this is okay in Season One? *shudder* It definitely sounds like this group of writers believe that ends justify the means (like Brad Kern obviously did) and not the wrong thing done for the right reason is still the wrong thing, and that their job was to protect the innocent, not punish the guilty as Connie obviously believed. Sounds like this group's destiny is to punish the guilty - too heck with the innocent who gets hurt along the way.
No, this is not a show I'm interested in, especially if these are witches who happen to have the same mother, not sisters who happen to be witches.

This is not the show for me to even attempt to watch. I'm so upset to hear these writers are sticking to Kern's canon and not Connie's. Looks like these writers believe the same as Kern in regards to believing that ends justify the means. So I see they decided to change the Elders mythology so they are just Elder witches, and so we'll not have any Angels in the Heavens. So what this means for how Whitelighters are chosen, I wonder?

I've been waiting for it to happen but to no avail. 4 episodes and I still couldn't connect with the characters of the sisters or get sucked into the plot to the point of not noticing the episode's flaws. More could've been done with this week's plot. A demon possessed innocent was tied up in the attic for two days. Instead of zooming to two days later and making jokes and Kappa obsession, why not show us those two days in the house with Angela? Also the Harbinger of doom and Source is so weak that it could only snarl like an animal and not psychologically attack the sisters during its confinement? Or even trap them in the house with no one getting in or out? Charity is probably the most annoying character to walk the Earth. I still haven't connected with the main characters to even begin caring about her or her past with Harry and the dead mother.

I like Macy and Maggie, and watching the last episode I was able to connect with Mel since she was dead set on protecting Angela, not killing the Harbinger. The scene where she approached the dead cop, being overwhelmed by guilt and sorrow, was a very powerful one. It does feel like they are rushing the plot, but I sincerely hope it will get better cause I'm enjoying the series so far. For those who doubt if they should watch it: try to watch it as if it's a completely new TV show. It's not better or worse, it's just different.

And the episode contained a nice Easter Egg nod to the Piper-Paige dialogue 'Demons you can handle, but not rats?'

As someone who loved this show so far and especially this episode, I want to clarify the Tripp point. The girls did not know that the Elder was setting him up for the murders. Charity told them she would take care of things because the cops would come. They trusted her as someone who had helped them at the end and was a former friend of their mother (who Mel especially looked up to.) They left. When Mel later asked Charity, she was vague about what she did. It's not until the very end that Mel learns about them framing Tripp, and she's shocked by it. This episode promoted the exact opposite of 'ends justifying the means.' Ends justifying the means would be killing Angela. The girls, Mel especially, fought hard against that. Macy was thinking about utilitarianism and discussing it with Galvin, and the 'for the greater good' thinking was called cold. Macy was originally left out of Mel's planning because of this difference of opinion. They fought to save an innocent and were crushed at the loss of Tripp. Again, this is especially true for Mel, who is sort of the ethical leader in this show. Charity tries to frame Macy as a leader because of her investment in logic, but Macy rejects that.
I thought the elders being experienced witches rather than graduated whitelighters was really interesting. They're not as powerful. They apparently can't watch and listen in on the girls. Charity is only able to find them because Harry has a tool to summon her. I'm not seeing the all-powerful stuff that existed on Charmed like being able to erase memories or forcibly orb people away. (Which explains the fate of Harry's previous charge a lot better.) They remind me of the watcher's council in Buffy if those leaders had been slayers. They form a group who makes the rules and enforces them. They send out agents to guide/support witches. They're still very much on the human level though. In fact, I'm wondering if the elder/charmed ones relationship will go the way of the buffy/council relationship: the Charmed Ones basically saying, "You need me more than I need you. So, cut the crap."

I do hope that the sisters will be given more authority since I don't like Harry acting as a dictator rather than a guide which reminds me of the 'whitelighters were supposed to guide, not dictate' concept from the original show. What do you think about the sisters? Do you have any favorites?

I'm still not in love with the idea of Whitelighters or a Witches' Council. But a part of me is glad that they're fellow witches instead of "angels". I was also relieved to see that the sisters are utilizing something other than Wicca . . . namely Santeria.
This "relationship" with whitelighters/Watchers is suitable when the protagonists are training. But once the training is over, I believe the relationship should be ditched.

My problem with regular ol'Witches being Elders is that it makes zero sense when it comes to Whitelighters. Whitelighters report to them and apparently fear them yet Whitelighters have multiple powers, are able to heal, dont age...it seems weird. What do you think about the sisters? Do you have any favorites? I like all the sisters, but Mel is my favorite. I love how smart, passionate, and well-meaning she is. She has her flaws and the show has no problem highlighting them, but she has a huge heart. She's proud of who she is. She'll accept she's wrong when she's seen proof of it. That can make her difficult but people can't bulldoze her, can't shame her into doing something against her ideals. The way she looks up to her mother is heartwarming (and makes me worry Marisol will turn out to have done some shady things as an elder.) I'm looking forward to them fishing out her and Niko a bit more. Maggie's a sweetheart. She's still figuring out her priorities, but she approaches things with an open mind. I want to know more about Lucy's interest in Maggie. I'm hoping the new love interest becomes more about Maggie and Lucy's friendship than romance. Macy's interesting because she's the oldest but, like Maggie, she's still struggling to be herself and find her place. She can be stubborn and determined while being far more diplomatic than Mel. I do wish they'd held off on making Gavin a love interest. I would have preferred he spent a while as just the friend helping her adjust. There's a maybe-date hanging over their interactions now. That's not fun.

Oh, I definitely agree with that. I don't expect it to last. They already disobeyed, and Harry said there'd be consequences even though they were in the right. I can't imagine they'll accept that kind of treatment for long. I'm curious what total rejection of the Elders would mean for Harry though. How much power do a group of witches hold over a whitelighter?

I still have no interest in it - just not my thing. If they were indeed going to reboot what I count as the alternate-universe spin-off of Classic Charmed (what most fans know as S4-8) and actually fix the many mistakes those last five episodes made, I would've been all for it. But as others keep saying - this is an entirely different show, and as such, it has no appeal for a 65-year-old the way Classic Charmed did for a 45-year-old, since I loved both Holly and Alyssa going into it and by 'The Truth Is Out There...And It Hurts" I loved all three sisters, especially because they acted like sisters who happened to be witches, unlike the second set who were more like demon-hunters who happened to be related and whose destiny was first to destroy the Source and second to protect the Twice-Blessed Brat, not protect innocents. Since as I said, this seems more like that second set (with a bunch of stuff from other shows that I never watched like X-Files and Buffy thrown in for fun), so I'm just not interested. But as I said, that's mainly due to my age. For those who do enjoy this show, I'm glad you do and you keep watching and you correct any misconceptions us who are watching it through others' eyes (although I may stop doing even that fairly soon unless it changes quite a bit - not happy with how they're doing sisterhood or innocents or Elders or Whitelighters or the Source or demons or warlocks one single bit!), that would be fantastic!

AGREED totally! I really think they blew it by trying to be like Classic Charmed by including whitelighters who aren't really whitelighters at all. Either use them and Elders the same way Classic Charmed did or skip NuGiles and just use this Elder Council (an idea I do like if you throw out the idea of whitelighters) and let one of them guide the Charmed Ones. That would've made so much more sense.

Aside from the Elders...I really hope this show branches out from the college. It feels so small as if they are in their own little bubble since all they do is go home or go to the University. Why are all the demons just attracted to college kids?

Why are all the demons just attracted to college kids? Hilltown is supposed to be a college town. The majority of people in that area would either attend the college or work there (or at venues catering to it). So it's less that demons are attracted to the college and more that there's not much that doesn't revolve around it if they're going to remain in Hilltown.
