Season 6 I find quite underrated

Controversially I did love the time travel stuff and ongoing Chris madness going on trying to sabotage which made things unpredictable across the season

Whilst the opener with Valkyries they could've gone more into the NORSE mythology like Xena instead of Amazon focus point of the costume design I quite liked the different route it took.

Phoebe as an emoath was under utilised in places however .. loved Paige temp jobs taking her to obscure places. Gideon and the magic school was an interesting threat too

And the finale was the best finale since season 3 just excellent two hours of perfection

Season 7 however I did kinda feel had the vibe of the first 4 seasons and the whole Avatar, Zankou approach was exciting too ...Leo was FINALLY an interesting character this season ...Phoebe went back to her roots ...I wish her and charisma carpenters Seer had a relationship or spin off show solving supernatural crimes with their premonition powers

Alyssa and Charisma together were just such an iconic dream team

Loved Paige and Brody dynamic too, I do think people love hating on season 5-8 way too much when season 6 and 7 have a lot of gems imo ...

Those first 4 episodes though were a bit rough Styx Feet Under was where it really kicked back into high gear , loved the avatar arc and loved Zankou as a threat though felt it would've been more iconic if it were a female big bad to face instead as the ultimate threat in the episode or something but still Zankou was gorgeous !

And the finale was fourth to season 3, 6 and 1 imo it could've ended on a high note there

Yeah, I have a feeling the reason the Valkyries dressed more like Amazons than how the real ones were, was more a marketing thing so they could have the characters revealing more skin. I didn't mind it, it was annoying though.

Paige's temp job were fun. I did like the concept of the sisters moving out, but they didn't do a good job of it. I also wasn't happy they just abandoned Phoebe and Paige's love interests so quickly after they made a big deal of them moving out.

For me I expected something akin to XENA with the Valkyries trilogy from the final season that was EPIC so Nordic and brilliant

I thought the Valkyries could've had that angle maybe instead of the Amazon route perhaps?! Like I get the SoCal vibe but still

I feel charmed fans dismiss everything after season 4 so mercilessly whilst I generally find every season pros and cons but season 3 and 4 are PEAK quality season 6 and 7 I do have an affinity with

Also yes the love interests didn't interest me much like how I got into Buffy and Angel it's the SUPERNATURAL element there of witches Vs demons approach I adored and the unique appeal of not being a friendship group or anything but a FAMILY SISTERHOOD navigating real life daily problems and trying to sort out the balance of saving innocents and how that impacts them ... Phoebe and Cara the Seer I feel would've made an iconic sapphic pairing Phoebe gave bi energy anyway and I feel in a show in san Francisco there needed more LGBTQ representation

Xena and Buffy nailed representation Charmed could've pushed that envelope out a lot moreso I feel ... So the excuse of it was the 90s doesn't cut the mustard overall for me sadly ...charmed could've easily had LGBTQ innocents to protect or villains or regulars ...have Darryl be gay with his partner and adopted kids or something ?! Wyatt as adult form or something ?! Let Phoebe be with the seer in season 7 and be iconic solving crimes using their psychic and premonition powers ... So much untapped potential there in those seasons

Paige and Brody added stakes too I feel especially the Avatar plot but alas

I think you can divide the fans up into those that loved the relationship domestic side of those that love the supernatural side ...when it swayed too much into love interests sadly I dip out

I feel your pain. LOL almost like they went into the Xena amazon costume department. They could've taken inspiration from Xena's Valkyries. Like@missjessica pointed out, likely just marketing and they wanted them to look sexy, not accurate like the costumes Xena had being more true to Norse mythology.

I think in Charmed's case, it had more to do with the producers making the show in regards to LGBT characters. I'm sure Spelling was much more old school minded. But you're right, so much untapped potential in that regard.

That's a good point, there's fans who watch for the sisterhood and relationships, and don't care for the Supernatural and magical stuff and others who like the magic and supernatural elements. I tend to fit more in the middle. As someone who is very attracted to supernatural elements in shows having watched Buffy, Angel and Supernatural.

Every season has something in it that is watchable. I'd never toss out every season. But S1-S3 might be the best quality wise. I think its judged too harshly (especially S6). It has its pros and cons like you said.

Absolutely THIS I mean lunchking it's bizarre how the marketing went all out there trying to get male gaze not male gays hehe

I reckon spelling was definitely a limiting factor there in terms of having more progressive stories in charmed like gay capital of the universe and diverse in backgrounds not every male had to be a love interest for the sisters

Wasted potential there imo to really venture these things and explore different threats
