Same with me too.
I don't get the hate with 5. So many hate on it because of the two or three magical creature episodes. But I don't hate those episodes as much as some do. There's worse episodes.
I don't care for Cole in S5. But the season isn't that horrible.
I might be in the minority that likes it more than S4.
But this is just based on full seasons. Half seasons my rankings would be different.
Funny that you mentioned the "half of a season".
'Cause I REALLY dislike S5A. With the exception of THREE episodes: S5E1 "A Witch's Tail, Pt 1", S5E3 "Happily Ever After" & S5E6 "The Eyes Have it".
I understand fans, when they say they don't like the personalities of the sisters 'cause that's how I feel about S5A.
The Disgusting Behavior of EVERYONE Involved in S5AI understand not liking the behavior of certain characters, and I REALLY feel it, in S5.
S5E1 "A Witch's Tail, Pt 1"As Paige courageously pointed out, Phoebe was dumping all over Miley, their innocent because Phoebe rather go to her divorce court than help Miley, who's life is in danger. Not to mention Phoebe's disgusting behavior towards Piper's panic attacks and blaming Piper for the loss of Miley. Now, I still like this episode, but Phoebe is REALLY getting on my nerves, here. She did apologize, afterward, but it wasn't like her apology in S1E20 "The Power of Two".
S5E2 "A Witch's Tail, Pt 2"Instead of "being there for Piper", Phoebe's thinking more about herself and continues running away, as a mermaid. Instead of being there, for Piper, in the end. We can argue she was "mermaid altered", but she seemed VERY much herself, even as a mermaid. And, how she got "unmerama-fied" (if you will) was admitting how she REALLY felt about Cole which is (surprise, surprise) she still loves Cole.
S5E3 "Happily Ever After"Phoebe is blinded by her hatred of Cole and blames him for all of the shenanigans, going on in this episode and did NOTHING to help the situation. Granted, she DID apologize to Cole, and this episode looked promising, until the next episode...
S5E4 "Siren Song"She's still upset with Cole and criticizing him for saving the woman in the burning fire/building. What would be the alternative, Phoebe? Let her rot, in the burning house? Come on Phoebe. This episode could've been great without the Phoebe & Cole drama. This is (also) the catalyst episode that DESTROYS the Cole character. There was a small glimmer of the old Phoebe, when she recognizes Cole is trying so hard but then Paige stopped her. I get where Paige is going, but it just felt out of place.
S5E5 "Witches in Tights"She's (once again) blinded by her hatred of Cole, that she almost ignored innocent tenants being wrongfully evicted by a scumlord, had her assistant not said anything about it, either. And, the way she ran away from Cole after putting two and two together of him killing the scumlord...she could've found a way to save the scumlord's soul or something, but it was a missed opportunity. This episode is "meh" and marks the beginning of "Twice Blessed Child", from the Elder, but I digress. Not to mention a Superhero knockoff.
S5E6 "The Eyes Have it"Yes, I love this episode, but it really bothers me that Phoebe refuses to go with Piper & Paige with Ava, to maybe get a premonition off of something. I get she didn't trust herself, but she didn't even try! And, Paige, rightfully called her out, on it.
S5E7 "Sympathy for the Demon"Aside from Paige, neither Piper nor Phoebe tried to come up with a solution to strip Cole of his powers. I get they can't do it with a power stripping potion but what about a power binding potion? Or invent a spell that would allow the powers to be removed WITHOUT transferring the powers over to something else. This episode just pissed me off! It only gave a Barbas solution (which is ridiculous, at this point) but not the Cole situation.
S5E8 "Witch in TimeI cannot stress enough how much I despise time travel episodes. This is basically S8E22 "Forever Charmed" before S8E22 "Forever Charmed" existed. Both Paige & Phoebe get killed, and Piper goes back in time to save them. LITERALLY S8E22 "Forever Charmed"! I didn't like the endless amount of premonitions centered around saving Miles. It felt cheap to say "look, Phoebe's having premonitions, in this episode!". OFC, Phoebe is incredibly blinded by her premonitions, AGAIN, to see the truth and blames Cole, AGAIN.
S5E9 "Sam I Am"I get that Cole killed human beings but come on! I'm so sick and tired of Cole being bullied for NINE episodes straight, at this point! Especially by Phoebe! Enough with the threats and just vanquish him, already! And, we see more Cole derailment. The Phoebe & Cole drama just takes away from a what could've been wonderful episode of Paige meeting her father, for the first time.
S5E10 "Y Tu Mummy Tambien"More Cole bullying, and I'm going to include Piper in this equation, as well. Cole is OBVIOUSLY self-destructing and Piper couldn't care less and DEMANDS Cole to put on a pause on it and go and help rescue Phoebe 🙄 Paige can clearly see Cole self-destructing and didn't want to go through Piper's plan, but Piper was absolutely appalling about it and forced Paige to witness the self-destructing of Cole. Paige didn't have enough time to react, as she got possessed by Isis. Piper really irked me, in this episode. Same with Phoebe, when Phoebe had the AUDACITY to ask Cole "what happened to you?" Really, Phoebe? YOU did!
S5E11 "The Importance of Being Phoebe"More bullying of the Cole character and ruining his character. We're ELEVEN episodes in this nonsense, and I'm so SICK of it! What really grinds my gears is Cole killing the innocent woman driver. He had no right! IDC if it "wasn't personal". It was such a gross way to "get back at Phoebe" and just absolutely DESTROYS the Cole character! I don't recognize this Cole, at all! #notmyCole
S5E12 "Centennial Charmed"While, I'm glad this is the last Phoebe & Cole drama, I REALLY hate how it's a cheap knock off of one of my favorite S4 episodes via S4E20 "Long Live the Queen". It didn't hit as hard, and I was completely over it, and it's another time travel episode, which I don't care for time travel episodes.
The Not So Great S5B EpisodesI really only like S5E15 "The Day That Magic Died" & S5E20 "Sense & Sense Ability", in S5B. S5B, despite Cole being gone, don't really have that many great of episodes, either.
S5E13 "House Call"I didn't care for the return of Glen, Paige's friend with benefits and not really husband/boyfriend material. Dunno why people ship them, but I digress. This just isn't really a good episode. I wasn't having fun. I feel the Witchdoctors were correct in their assessment of the Charmed Ones being evil. Just wished it was executed better. IDK, I can't really quite put my finger on it. I just wasn't have fun especially since this is another episode where it's sexualizing Alyssa Milano, AGAIN, in the photoshoot.
S5E14 "Sand Francisco Dreamin'"This episode MAY get a "free pass", but it's still quite an underwhelming episode mostly 'cause Piper just blew up the demon, and that was that...
S5E16 "Baby's First Demon"I don't really hate this episode, as it's an introduction to the Crone, but again, underwhelming.
S5E17 "Lucky Charmed"This episode is just ridiculous and silly. HOWEVER, I do LOVE Pat Benatar! So, this is another underwhelming episode.
S5E18 "Cat House"I can't really get into this episode. I don't understand how Kit, the Warlock, Phoebe & Paige get trapped inside the memories of Piper & Leo. Especially since I'm not the biggest Piper & Leo fan and don't want to go through their memories of how terrible they are, as a couple. Plus, the broken cake topper cliffhanger didn't seem to go, anywhere. And, this episode just felt like a weird "time travel" type of episode. How many "time travel" type of episodes must S5 take us through?
S5E19 "Nymphs Just Wanna Have Fun"I'm ssooo not intereste in having an entire episode based around wood nymphs...
S5E21 "Necromancing the Stone"Destroyed the Paige & Nate storyline, and I couldn't stand Grams' sexist remarks against Wyatt being a boy.
S5E22-23 "Oh My Goddess, Pt 1 & 2"Putting these together 'cause it felt like a big waste of time, of the characters just complaining, the entire time. Leo being a jerk. And, I don't understand why ALL three of them needed to defeat the Titans, as it was all just Piper...total waste of an episode.
I don't get the love for S5. And seeing it surpass S6 (which is a more fun season with better episodes), blows my mind.
