With the release of "Chick Flick" It looks like they're FINALLY uploading a podcast in the way that I thought they would've from the beginning; a watch-along. I'm gonna take a look at it later on tonight and see how it goes while playing the episode on my TV. I wasn't too upset when I heard the podcasts and heard that they watched the episode first and then talked about it, but I think recording them talking while watching it is a bit better because it gets them talking strictly about the episode/Charmed. Nice they uploaded the Patron watch along they did last week that I saw clips of on Insta. Because they're JUST talking about the episode. That's going to offer lots of insights. They released an abridged version they did after the watch along last week. Have to listen to it when can. I see why they don't do it this way as a watch along. Hard get all of them to watch same time. But I hope they consider it more often.

Hey all, been a while since I’ve posted in this forum. Glad to see there is a thread about the podcast!
I have loved listening to it and getting and insight into some behind the scenes things and their views.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned before, but is anyone else a bit frustrated with the lack of support of Alyssa in the discussions of episodes and performance etc? I understand there is drama with the girls, but the podcast should be a reflection on all equally. Shannen and Holly are praised constantly for how fantastic they are, which I agree they both do a fabulous job. But so does Alyssa. Alyssa did such a great job portraying Phoebe, it just saddens me that with all the drama they don’t acknowledge that and barely talk about her.
Anyway rant over! I love the podcast, it just saddens me they are so biased

Obviously Holly is very close with Shannen and will speak on her behalf. Seems Alyssa isn't mentioned that at all. They'll have to mention her more in S3 since Alyssa has the Phoebe/Cole arc. Won't be surprised they get Julian on the podcast before they get Alyssa lol She very to herself Alyssa and pretty isolated from the rest of the cast. It's nice she'll be at a con with Julian soon.

Yeah Drew refers to the Charmed family including Shannen, Holly and Rose and not so much Alyssa which is kind of sad. There is no good structure to the podcast. They talk about Holly Goat sometimes, more than the content of the episode. Ok I am exaggerating. HMC does reveal interesting parts about the dynamics and back stories (e.g. her being sick in Love Hurts - which is why she is lying down and absent in The Power of Two) etc. Its like watching Season 6, waiting for glimpses of the original Charmed and the occasional nod or mention of Prue and the good days. Brings back nostalgia for me about the 90's/early 2000's/

Looks like the podcast is something that'll just be wasting my time or it should be background noise while I'm cleaning my house.

If you are in public transport or cleaning the house or trying to fall asleep I would recommend the HoH Podcast.

If you are in public transport or cleaning the house or trying to fall asleep I would recommend the HoH Podcast. I fully agree. It's best to listen when you just want to pass the time. I'm still waiting for the podcast to have someone from the writing staff on to talk about the creative process of crafting episodes and seasons. But they don't seem to have any luck getting anybody who worked behind the scenes on the show. I wonder why that is.

If Alyssa and Shannen come on, I'll quickly use the 7 day free trial and watch the A/S ones and any others in video form or other special episodes. I'll not continue the service after my 1 week trial is up. Win/win.

Maybe The Good, the Bad and the Cursed in S3. She was meant to appear on the P3H20 one but Holly said she was still recovering all the cons they did and got sick. So she has at least agreed to be on at one point even if it didn't work out. What episodes you think she could be on in S3?

What episodes you think she could be on in S3? She must be in AHBL or The G, B and the Cursed. Maybe Primrose Empath too? Perhaps Julian would come on for S3E1? I painfully just listened to Apocolypse Not podcast which didn't really entertain me. They pretty much bagged quite a popular episode and Drew said the last couple of episodes were weak which I think is unfair. The only take away that was good was when Holly said it was spooky/creepy how foreshadowing this episode was about the 4 Horseman - Strife, War, Famine, Death and the Corporate World with the many apocalyptic things that have or that are happening right now - Ukraine, Inflation with food, Brexit, extremism, natural disasters etc. Which is why I found it weird that they rated the episode so low. I feel like Drew's got what he's wanted now, to be instagram relevant like his Supernatural peers and with what the Lawrence brothers have going on social media. I'm sure he loves the 'Charmed Family' and esp Holly and Brian but the podcast fails to deliver the goods for me.

It's just a podcast I listen to kill time now. But I've come to realize they seem to rate episodes high based on favouritism on the ones with amazing acting. Drew rating Dead Man Dating and Awakened so high because of Holly or Hellfire because of Shannen. I guess I'm expecting All Hell Breaks Loose to be their most favorite based on acting and Shannen's directing. Personally apart from that the writing is horrible to me. They really hated this episode. Holly went on a rant over the scene Piper and Leo had in the car. She wasn't a fan of it or Leo in this episode at all. I didn't think Leo was that bad in this episode. He was far worse in other episodes in S2 yet for some reason this was his worst written role of S2 in their eyes. Lol I feel the real goods are if they brought more people behind the scenes. They know better than the cast on creating the episodes, writing and making. Holly said they should get Sheryl on to ask her about the writing of this episode. She's mentioned her often and other people who worked on the show. But they haven't gotten anyone on yet like that. I have a feeling since they can't even name Brad Kern by name on the podcast and he is only mentioned as "who shall not be named" or his name is bleeped out. Maybe they can't bring crew on because it'll be hard to get around talking about the production stuff if not even the crew guesting on the podcast can mention him in relation to the show. So weird they can't mention Kern's name. I swear I thought he WAS mentioned by name in an earlier podcast in S1. But I can't remember. I wonder why now. Maybe legal reasons since I know CBS fired him on a show a few years back. But it just seemed strange that it's more recent.

The fact she finds it difficult to do a car scene and demanded a rewrite but was angry at Kern for not pulling through speaks A LOT on how much INFLUENCE the actors had on the writing. And, why the characters became NOTHING like they were established. So, when they (most likely Shannen) continued making demands on how the show should be and finally got told that they're actors and not writers nor producers. Which probably pissed them off and renegotiated their deals to BECOME producers (Holly & Alyssa, mostly) or fired via Shannen. Though, she wanted to quit 'cause she didn't want to be a part of something that wouldn't "listen to her". Since photography for Prue was Shannen's idea, I can understand firing her for her terrible ideas and demands. Actors are NOT writers NOR producers! You're there to ACT. If you want to write and/or produce, renegotiate your status!

If you want to write and/or produce, renegotiate your status! Yeah I totally agree with both of you. Season 2 upon reflection leaves a bad taste in my mouth - not because of the acting/episodes - but the behind the scenes. Its almost like HMC was trying to prove her self to the network in S1 because they were reluctant to cast her due to her lack of star power. And then when the show became a success - and Shannen her BF was directing/calling the shots - I could see how Holly started to demand things too. You can see on set how then Alyssa then wanted her say and input to balance things out and there became a falling out. Holly is in NZ next week and me and my sister were planning on going but I don't feel like seeing what she has to say really. Leo was fine in this episode - I don't know what they were talking about. She even went as far to say that Leo spiked their tea in that scene which I THINK was a joke. Leo showed these non-passive behaviours in the Devils Music and Morality Bites and P3H20. I don't think Drew is interested anymore and just wants to make IG contacts with famous people.

I always said S2 felt "off", and it took me a LONG time to appreciate the episodes that ARE in this season. S2 was like "the practice round" of the actors having a little bit more to say on the direction of the show, and it really bothers me. I understand they wanted to help contribute something positive, but I feel like if you want to write a story, you should be a writer and/or producer. The only person I actually feel really sorry for here is Constance M. Burge, for essentially being bullied off of her own creation. I (also) think Sheryl did a great job in the Teleplay portion of S2E21 "Apocalypse, Not". You know, the ACTUAL writers of the team. I hate to be "that person", but actors just need to "shut up and act", unfortunately. If they want to write story, then be hired on as a WRITER. I'm tired of the acting position being melded into the writer, director, producer, etc. positions because they're NOT the same!

I have to agree. Actors are not writers. The point of an actor is to perform. The more I hear the behind the scenes insights, the less I think of the cast. I see why Holly hates S1, it's obvious the least tainted by her and the actresses input and the most of Connie's original vision.

I see why Holly hates S1, it's obvious the least tainted by her and the actresses input and the most of Connie's original vision. IDK where I heard Holly say this, but she pointed out she didn't like her character "dating all these guys" in S1, and I somewhat I understand her point, but at the same time, it put a REAL damper on her character in being stuck with Leo. Especially, when Holly is allegedly being held responsible for fighting for Brian Krause to remain in the show. The only time I felt like an actress had the right idea was actually Rose, and no, it wasn't about her red hair in S5 LOL But, she was similar to Holly's concern with how many guys they made Paige go through in S5, so I am glad Rose spoke up about that.
I do think Kern had some good moments, even in S1. I like the way he incorporated Andy's character in S1E20 "The Power of Two". And, S1E2 "I've Got You Under My Skin" is not a bad start, to the show, either. Javna's vanquish is pretty epic! And, the spell to vanquish him is quite solid compared to other spells said throughout the show. And, his wrap up (with Sheryl, but Kern is still credited for BOTH Story AND Teleplay, while Sheryl is ONLY credited for the Teleplay) on the Rex & Hanna storyline was fairly solid. Still not a fan of Leo healing the book, but I digress. And, his collaberation with Constance in the S1 finale wasn't bad, either. Though, my favorite of his is S1E20 "The Power of Two".

I believe (allegedly) Holly and Brian had known each other before Charmed. I think Holly and Brian's ex-wife were friends before the show too. IDK where I heard that from. So that might've played a part in why she was eager to keep him on.
Don't I wish Spelling and Kern had not given Holly her wishes, and the more she kept fighting, the more they pushed back and got rid of Leo completely.
I do understand why Holly didn't like her character "dating all these guys" in S1 too. But I sure wish they had just given her no love interests in S2, and let her character focus on opening up P3 and that being her storyline for S2. I suppose that would mean Dan would be Phoebe's love interest.
But for some reason, the show seemed to want Phoebe to be single, and Piper seemed to be the romantic sister who always got stuck in a relationship of some kind for the entire series. S1 might be the closest where she went episodes here and there with no love interest, but the gap really isn't more than 1-2 episodes in a row before she's paired with someone new.
I honestly wouldn't have minded if Piper was the sister who was single or at least let her go one season or half a season without anyone. Every other sister at the very least went a good period of time without a major love interest.

I agree with basically everyones comments, it's not a great podcast, yet I still wait patiently for every episode to drop haha.
I do feel like they are very biased, they mainly discuss Piper's plot points (I guess obviously as she is in the podcast) and Prue, Shannen is regarded like an angel and can do no wrong. She's an excellent actress, I don't disagree but I do feel like they're unfairly biased towards here. It's a shame they don't discuss Phoebe/Alyssa all that much, and when the do it's to criticise. I think Holly is very opinionated about a lot of things (which is fair, aren't we all!) but then she influences Drew. I liked Drew at the beginning, but now I feel he is way too influenced by Holly. He'll start by liking an episode then Holly will mention something she didn't like and suddenly Drew hates it too.
I find Brian a lot more authentic, he sticks to his guns even if it's different from the others.
It amused me the drama between Holly and Siberling and the fact Drew didn't know.
I also thought they were way too harsh on Apocalypse Not though! I quite liked this episode!
