I hope they have Shannen, Alyssa, and some of the writers on as guests at some point. I'm VERY interested in hearing about the creative process of Charmed from the writers POV. It depends if Connie, Sheryl, and the other writers even want to talk about Charmed these days.
I'm not sure if I'll pay for their Patron service. It depends on how much it is. I've never subscribed to any of those before.
I'll reserve judgement until I actually listen to the podcast myself.
Edit: I finished watching it.
Takes from the podcast:
Shannen was originally meant to be Piper and Holly as Phoebe. They originally wanted another actress as Prue.
The network didn't want Holly as Piper. They didn't believe in her.
Spoke about Lori leaving and Alyssa replacing her.
The podcast was Drew's idea. I seriously didn't know it was him at first. He sounds so different. Looks like Drew is the host of the podcast and will lead them all or so it felt that way.
Holly talks about Connie a bit in the podcast.
I did end up liking some of the interesting stuff Holly brought up about filming when they didn't goof around.
They graded the episode. Brian gave it an 8. Drew gave it a 9. Holly didn't grade as she was in the episode.
Podcast itself my grade: 6/10. Hopefully they'll be able to get the structure of the podcast down and bring on guests. Hearing different point of views will really make it very fun.

So the information we read in the French press was true. Prue had to be Piper. But we thought Piper must be Prue. It's interesting, fortunately they changed roles.

Looks like the French press was right. I do wonder how the show would've done with that set-up. But I just can't see Holly as Phoebe and Shannen as Piper at all. |

I wonder who the actress was that Spelling had in mind to originally play Prue and why can't they say!
Just thinking of Spelling productions - maybe that Tiffany or Denise woman?
Makes sense that The Witch is Back (Episode 10, before the year 1998 end) or Fear From Eternity (Episode 13) were designed to be the last episode - in case the series wasn't picked up as Holly says they picked up half a season after watching the Pilot. And then Secret and Guys takes a different direction with the introduction to whitelighters and male witches.
I could see HMC as Phoebe (far more than Prue). Especially because the chemistry between Piper and Phoebe (Shannen and Holly) would have been cute. But I am glad she played Piper.
Alyssa was fresh from Hawaii which explains why her hair is lighter and skin is a bit tanned.
I like the part when Holly says we were all in it for the reasons - to make an ADULT success for our selves - given Shannen and Alyssa were famous playing younger characters.
Lol at 'don't change your hair'. That went out the door as soon as it could later. Hollys hair was up a lot in Season 2.
Felicity was the darling - interesting. She changed her hair lol.
Chills at the Opening Credits when they first saw them. So cool! I love the opening credits.
Gosh I wonder if Charmed was on the bigger networks - I think it would have been a FRIENDS supernatural equivalent (ok maybe not that big) - after Drew points out how big the 7.7 million watchers were for a small network just starting.
100% camaraderie at the beginning! Cool how Holly does says that you got to see a more comedic Shannen and a more serious Alyssa which is so true

I wouldn't be surprised it was another actress from a Spelling show. I don't see them casting an unknown in the Prue role. Yeah I've always wondered how the show would've done on the bigger networks. I'd think it'll be bigger but not Friends big. There's been a number of successful shows with a similar genre to Charmed. Fox might’ve fitted Charmed since most of Spellings other shows aired here I think. I think From Fear To Eternity would've made a nice series finale if the show didn't get a back nine order or got cancelled. |

So it won't be Holly, Brian and Drew each time. That's good. We might get a chance to see the others.
I wonder if they're doing this in hopes for a Charmed sequel now that the rip-off is over. They might want it to start 20 years later with Drew already married with kids. I hope not. I really wouldn't want cardboard Drew to be part of it.
I wouldn't want it to be a new Charmed with someone else playing Prue, Piper and Phoebe - not enough time has passed for fans to accept someone else as them.

I've seen a Supernatural one pop up too not too long ago. I'll be very interested to see if this podcast makes it through all eight seasons. Especially if they all end up getting new acting roles that will likely take priority. It'll be amazing if Alyssa and Shannen came on so we'd get a reunion between the original three. That'll be very sweet for fans since the chances of a movie or spin-off are slim these days. I think I heard that as well. It's a different Prue that really took me by surprise. Very cool. Very happy to see they'll have guests on and it just won't be those three on each week. Me, too! I think that's what will make this very exciting, and stop the podcast being too centric to being the Holly, Drew and Brian show or too Piper/Leo centric. We didn't get any commentaries on the DVDs apart from S8 like other shows commonly have. So it'll be exciting to see the writers and directors talk about the creative process. I see from the link above they have Voting and asking for help on future content and who we'd like to see on the show. Someone has to keep requesting for Sheryl, Chris, Zack and the other earlier writers. I'm sure Shannen and Alyssa will be the most requested already. Ted King is a must for S1. |

If they recast Prue in the podcast but not the others, I definitely won't watch - unless we hear from Shannen that she's too sick to play the role. No, I still don't think I'd watch it.
If they wait ten years and have others do all of the voices in the podcast, that would be different.

But I have a hunch it might be hard given both Shannen and Alyssa are acting regularly in new projects (Shannen had a new movie that came out not too long ago). It'll depend on their schedules. That might be why neither had agreed to be part of this as regulars and why those three decided to do it together.

If they wait ten years and have others do all of the voices in the podcast, that would be different. This is a re-watch and interview podcast where they'll be going through the series each week recapping and telling behind the scenes storeis so they won't be recasting anybody. If Shannen is free, not busy with other acting roles (she's done two feature films in the past eight months, so she might be busy) or not too sick, I'm sure they'll try to get her on. |

However, Shannen hasn't appeared at all on the Beverly Hills recap podcast (and she is on good terms at least I think she is and did that reboot thingie a few years back). So maybe she just doesn't like re-watching her own work. I know Shannen hates re-watching herself. She said that before but had to watch the ones she directed for editing reasons. DYING to know how they'll do All Hell Breaks Loose. Are they really going to walk around Shannen's firing. That's going to be both an awarkward and interesting episode to listen too.

I don't know why she wouldn't answer who it is. Likewhoever Spelling envisioned as Prue likely wouldn't care to have her name out. Like naming her will hurt this actress' career twenty years later. It'll just be a fun little trivia to the show and star. But most of the cast I find at times does that, being coy over subjects. What's up with this cast. Every so often there's always somebody not talking to somebody in the cast. Always bad blood between the cast. I remember Holly and Alyssa had a feud over something Alyssa said that upset Holly. Next apparently Shannen and Holly are not as close (or still do talk but not like how it used to be). Then we have Rose and Alyssa which really was the worst I've ever seen the cast feuding. It never stops. LOL |
