Did Disney ever give an explaination on why they are doing this to ya'll As summerreading said to get their streaming platform subscriptions up. I don't believe in less sales for physical media. They're even trying to promote park ticket sales and hotel stays for their Disney+ subscribers. It's all about what makes the most profit, which I don't want to fully dig deep into the Disney rabbit hole of problems. As other companies are equally doing this, as in trying to monopolize their movies, but I digress. Funny how you completely glossed over the video game portion which is a problem. I don't want something I paid for being overwritten with something I'm not interested in and not getting to play the version, I originally paid for because it's now the newer version. I'm not really familiar with the gaming thing since I'm not really a gamer.

I'm not really familiar with the gaming thing since I'm not really a gamer. Something to think about, if you do get into it. Though, lately, I've been into Baldur's Gate 3. Doesn't seem like the type of game to overwrite itself with another expansion, since you can play it single player without other players around you. Though, you can play it with other people. It's just most of the world is exclusive to just you and your party and no one else outside of it. That being said, could explain the overwrite. Multiplier games tend to overwrite themselves vs Single Player games. Again, I don't see BG3 getting overwritten due to its mechanics. It's, mostly, if everyone else has to share that same world, grouped or not. That being said, IK what I'm talking about regarding this subject matter of physical media. It's slowly being chipped away, that there will be specific type of stores that will still have them. I don't think ALL of it will go away, no (that's impossible). But, you won't see an abundance of them like you're used to. Is typically what people mean by these things. And, that only shops you typically don't visit will most likely still have them but not your convenience stores like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc. My local mall here is dying, and there's only like 3 "well named" places still in it. The rest of the mall are small owned businesses, nobody's ever heard of but aren't always open. These are the types of stores that will most likely still be selling physical media, but their hours are all over the place and not convenient for the average shopper.

Do ya'll have Redbox down there in Australia Me, personally, I'm not in Australia, and Redbox is a bandaid solution rather than a problem solver. Seeing how it still fits the mold of online services. When, this subject matter is completely against it. I get you're trying to help and view this subject matter, differently than we do, but there's nothing that will solve any of this. This is more of a venting space than looking for solutions 'cause there aren't any. Unless, the big named places change their mind and continue distribution, no amount of "solutions" will be satisfactory. It is what it is. We don't have to like it, though, is all we're trying to say. It's frustrating having to change course. You can agree with that, correct?

Like, IK where to look for VHSes, if you know what those are. Despite them not being a common type of physical media like DvDs or Blu-Rays or even 4ks.
My point is the DvDs, Blu-Rays & 4ks will suffer the same fate as a VHS. They'll be around but not as common as they are, now.
IK where to look, it's just frustrating having to do so. But, I still think it's on purpose to boost streaming service numbers.

That explains why its hard to find DVDs or Blu-Rays in stores now. I know Best Buy is discontinuing Physical Media (but I haven't checked my local in so long to see if its happened already).
I don't feel like subscribing to every streamer known to man just to get content that I can only find there. I get the companies do that on purpose to get people to pay.
Yeah, they're doing this to boost sales for streaming.

I rarely check out streamer shows. I hate investing my time into a new show that will be canceled after 1 season. It seems they care more about getting new subscribers than producing content for loyal viewers. And also silent canceling shows, keeping fans excited for a new season they knew wasn't happening months ago, and stringing them along. Aaeiyn is right, on purpose to boost streaming service.

With all this going on, due to the weather, streaming my shows and stuff is just not a viable option, ATM.
I'm getting super hard lag, even on YouTube and the lowest quality setting possible, that I'mma just stick with my physical media.
Just adding more reasons to why Streaming Services isn't always the best route, to go.

If you run into wifi or internet issues and are without it for more than 24-hours, then you'll need physical media or have to rely on good old fashioned cable television.

That's happened to me before. I went 48 hours without any, but that was due to some maintenance in the area and we were warned about it ahead of time. I could've take my laptop to the library for instance or gone to a friends or family house, but like, I won't be staying there 24/7 just for WIFI use. Same with books. I do still read hardcover or paperbacks, and not rely on an Ebook. In the event, of a black-out with no power to use any devices, books are needed.

OMG! Insane. They're really want to control what you can have. That's so horrible. I haven't played video games in some time (I sorta lost interest once I got older to my 30s). I really miss my old game stations from the late 90s/00s. I don't know why but I got so much joy from them, that I just never seemed to have gotten from anything past the 2010s. Hearing this news has put me off wanting to go back into the gaming world.

My personal opinion is physical media should remain especially if streaming services can't get licenses for the original music. Plus, streaming services are only contracted for so long. For example, Netflix pretty much lost all of its cooler media such as a lot of Disney's content, OG Charmed, etc. And, a streaming service media piece I bought is not available in my region, anymore. The way streaming services work is not great, whereas my physical copies, when I feel like watching it, it'll be there. I agree with you; I would like for physical media to remain. I know one of the streaming services dropped a couple of shows I like.

It looks like Disney has started yet another CONTENT PURGE, this time - much bigger than the last time. Depending on your region and unless this is a huge bug, here are some of the titles being removed (the titles below are still available in the US but that might change any second now): deadline.com/2024/02/disney-original-movies-series-content-removal-emea-1235813461/A Tale of Two Critters America's Heart & Soul Believeland Breakthrough Catch That Kid Catholics vs. Convicts The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes Den Brother Emil and the Detectives Genius (the 1999 film) Genius (the National Geographic series) Hacksaw In Search of Derrick Thomas Lolo Minutemen Outsiders With Darren McMullen Perri Pixel Perfect Recess: All Growed Down The Reluctant Dragon Remote Survival The Sandlot The Sandlot: Heading Home The Secret of the Magic Gourd Secrets of Life Shortsgiving with Big City Greens Smart House Snowball Express Stepsister from Planet Weird Swiss Family Robinson (1940) Swiss Family Robinson (1960) Teacher's Pet Trail of the Panda The Two Bills Up, Up and Away The Zenon Movies Luck of the Irish You Lucky Dog Can of Worms Brink The Thirteenth Year Don't Look Under The Bed Horse Sense Alley Cats Strike Miracles Lane 2 Ready To Run Quints The Other Me Mom's Got A Date w/ a Vampire Phantom of the Megaplex The Ultimate Christmas Present Motocrossed Hounded Jumping Ship The Poof Point 'Twas The Night Double Teamed The Scream Team You Wish! If you notice anything else missing, post it. It's currently unknown whether those titles will show up elsewhere.

I've been slowly buying physical media titles for Disney content while I can. Since in my region they're stopping them soon. I don't have Disney but hopefully someone can tell us about international changes. But this is a massive purge. 😲

I'm missing "The Other Me".

Pertaining to "The Other Me", I can rent it for $3.89 USD or buy it for $5.89 USD on Amazon Prime Video, so I guess there's that...

Its obvious. They're losing money. They want to encourage more to pay for a subscription than sharing one account and paying one subscription. So if you use your account overseas on a holiday, still different IP means no access. But what if you move house or change Internet service providers you'll get a new assigned IP.
