Knew the actors were inputting a little too much of their "ideas" and were most likely told to stop it. Which, IK they (or, at least, Shannen) didn't back down which led to some folks being "let go". Not saying it's right, but that's how it works.
And, that Connie was bullied off of her own creation.
I've been saying this for YEARS!

Not that it's right. But the culture was that the actors act and do what they're told.

The Holly podcast is out! I really liked it. Here's a rundown on it: (mostly the Charmed content I'll mention, but lots of interesting stuff about their long friendship) - It was interesting hearing how Holly and Shannen first met. Holly was 19 and Shannan was 20 through friends and Holly's first marriage.
- They talk about Charmed and how they auditioned. Shannen brought up how much she liked Lori Rom and how she fit in well, then about her quitting due to her religious beliefs. Neither have any ill will towards Lori at her decision.
- Shannen was asked to play Piper, and Holly played Phoebe. They mentioned some actress named Dana, but I couldn't figure out if she was meant to originally have the part of Piper or Phoebe. They didn't get into detail about who this Dana actress was.
- Shannen found the first season to be the best to shoot since all three got along so well. But then she said the third was her favorite overall when it came to finding their voices and stories.
- They spoke about how Shannen and Holly were told to stay in their lane due to wanting to colabarate with the writers and producers about their characters.
- Holly was very yes sir in S1 but found her voice to speak out to the producers by the time of S3 like Shannen.
- Holly and Shannen talked about how Connie was the only female producer on set because the other writers were never allowed to leave the writers room. And Connie got pushed out creatively and financially by the male producers for creating her own show.
- Brad Kern had the final say and polished every script. Holly said it didn't matter if they got a fantastic script by Chris, Zack, or Connie; they all came out the same because Brad Kern injected and polished every script and episode.
- Both joked that Brad Kern was an interesting guy; that's all they'll say about him for now.
- Shannen teased a letter Brad Kern sent her that she's going to read on this podcast at some point. He said an apology to her after she left the show, with deep regret for her leaving and talking about him experiencing that show without her. (BIGGEST Juicy revelation I found) It sounds like he regretted firing her and asked her to come back during S7, which we know was when they contacted Shannen to return for the final episode at the time. (Shannen didn't say that, but that's my take and speculation until Shannen reads the letter.)
- She touched on Alyssa briefly about how they were pitted against each other and had competition between the two. And the fact that the title of the book says "Sorry, not Sorry" puts her off. Shannen said you're not freaking sorry, Alyssa. She's not reading her book. (Oh, the shade. Lol 😆 )
- They talked about when Holly and Shannen's dad were being sick in hospital around the same time in S2's filming. How Alyssa and her mom were blocking people from visiting Holly in the hospital. Shannen couldn't even see her. Holly would call Shannen thinking she abandoned her to which Shannen told her she couldn't get into the hospital and was blocked. It caused a brief tiff with Holly, who, because she had teenage parents, didn't know what a family felt like and got sucked into Alyssa's family, swooping in and almost adopting her emotionally. Shannen would cry every night after set because it was causing a wedge between her and Holly.
I was disappointed it ended when I came to the end of the podcast, but good news: Part 2 with Holly is likely next week. I'm already looking forward to it. I'm not surprised by how things got with Connie and Shannen being let go. Wow! Sounds like Kern regretted letting Shannen go with sending her a letter of apology. I hope Shannen reads it on the podcast sometime. Sounds to me like Alyssa was very jealous of Shannen and Holly's friendship. I didn't know Shannen and Holly had some brief tension during S2's filming and it came about over Alyssa and her family being supportive of her during her time in hospital and Shannen being blocked to see her. I'm not surprised by most of the other tea regarding them trying to implement their ideas and how Kern would keep rewriting scripts. Any showrunner has final say.

Alyssa and her family being supportive of her during her time in hospital and Shannen being blocked to see her. It's called alienation. I'm currently going through this regarding something else but yeah. You typically see this in divorce especially over child custody battles, and one parent tries (and succeeds) of turning the children against the other parent. And tends to block as much communication as possible to create a co-depency relationship with the children. I've been studying this, and it's heartbreaking. The hatred of the ex supercedes the needs of the children. In this case, it's called parental alienation. Not sure what to call Holly's situation, but it's definitely sounding like it. More than one person can be involved, too.

Not a bit surprised about anything related to Kern, Connie, and the writers. We all know he's a toxic POS.

I was disappointed it ended when I came to the end of the podcast, but good news: Part 2 with Holly is likely next week. I'm already looking forward to it. I feel like HMC takes no ownership for any issues on set. Like she is the victim. Maybe I am interpreting this all wrong. It seems like Holly can never do or say anything wrong. And then when other people say negative things - she retaliates with snarks etc. I think maybe HMC had the opportunity to resolve the wedge in between them or perhaps she exacerbated it.

Not a bit surprised about anything related to Kern, Connie, and the writers. We all know he's a toxic POS. Yeah, Nothing we didn't already know for years. But Kern sending an apology letter to Shannen is new. I didn't think he'd do that. But I have a hunch he did that in an effort to convince her to come back to the show.

WOW! I'm blown away that Kern sent Shannen a letter. Even with his big ego, I guess that once Shannen was long gone, he saw what an asset she was and how much he regretted it.
I wonder when he sent her the letter. It likely was whenever he was trying to get her to come back to the show. I know Shannen said at a past con she was asked back and declined due to the script. That might've been when he sent her the letter.
Looks like Part 2 will be where the really juicy details when Shannen's firing will be discussed in detail including the letter reading.

I've got mixed feelings on the actresses not being allowed to have as much of a say into the scripts. On the one hand, I believe Shannen had a better sense for where to take the show than people like Brad. On the other hand, I don't believe Holly and Alyssa's input in the later seasons was for the good of the show.
I'm hesitant as well to make Alyssa and her family the bad guys for seemingly keeping Shannen from seeing Holly in the hospital. I don't know any of these people, so maybe they are. I'm having a hard time understanding how they'd even do that, though. It seems like a quick phone call between Shannen and Holly could have cleared that up.
And I don't like to speak badly of anyone who's sick, but since she's the one putting all this out there, maybe there was a good reason for Alyssa and her family to pull Holly into their circle and not Shannen. Of course, Holly was an adult at the time and didn't need anyone's family to adopt her or tell her who to keep company with. But if Alyssa had a really stable family, Holly didn't, and Shannen has a side of her personality that was off-putting or mean in some way, maybe that was the reason for Alyssa and her family to rally around Holly and not include Shannen. Or maybe I'm entirely wrong and Shannen was the victim of them being mean to her for no reason. I'm just trying to say that there's two sides to every story.

Sure. And Alyssa is free to tell her side if she ever wants to.
Doesn't change Shannen's or Holly's perception of what happened. Their feelings are valid, too.

I'm team actors should know their place and "stay in their lane".
Which is why I find S1 to be the best. Less tainted by the Network, the actors and other producers trying to take over Connie's work.
You can feel the "Tug of War" throughout S2. With the sexier outfits, band promotions, actors voicing their opinions on where the show should go, with no real direction where they wanted S2 to go outside of the love triangle (sigh)
Then, Connie is completely reduced down, on her own creation, by S3. Before her full and complete departure, at the end of S4.
I still think S5-S8 has it moments, but it's nothing like S1. Neither is S2-S4.
If you want what Charmed is SUPPOSED to be, look no further than S1.

I was disappointed it ended when I came to the end of the podcast, but good news: Part 2 with Holly is likely next week. I'm already looking forward to it. I'm not surprised that our leading ladies who tried to contribute to their character or show was told to stay in their lane, the world was (or still is) widely dominated by men and having to push through and use their voices more would of been a challenge and disheartening. It makes me sad that Connie was pushed out of her own show that she CREATED, Charmed was always better when Connie was the showrunner. I'm very excited about Shannen reading this letter from Brad Kern, I could see how he would have a deep regret for her leaving/being fired and how there was a hole that was never filled after she was gone from Charmed. I think we all really felt it. I'm very interested to hear what the letter says! I think Shannen finally breaking her silence over what happened between her and AM is so brave and I am keen to hear what she has to say. I know she has spilled some tea already but I wonder what else she has to say? I am so happy that she is finally speaking her truth and she deserves to be heard. I actually had no idea Holly was sick in Season 2 and that AM and her family had driven a wedge between the two of them, that was new to me. I did know about AM apparently being difficult on set throughout the entire series with her apparently saying 'I don't get paid enough for this ***' and running around saying 'I get to kiss Julian' while he was dating Shannen. I'm not sure what set was like from Season 4 onwards but hearing Rose say she cried everytime they got renewed is troubling.

Lol Alyssa has a thing of always deflecting answers and sometimes I can't help but not know if she's being honest. Another thing I didn't realize how involved her mother was in her affairs. I guess she was a stage mom. But it's wild how much attention the feuding gets. The media is all over this rehashing a 20 year old feud. With Alyssa's mom coming out denyinh everything Shannen said:(

But with everyone defending AM I was starting to feel like I was crazy in thinking that she had never been up front, honest and reflective of what happened, she is constantly deflecting. Someone posted her 2021 interview on the Charmed reddit and it blew up, I may of commented myself but in that interview she barely says anything so why say anything at all? On my gosh. Get out. What did AM’s mum say?

Yeah, someone posted some screenshots of fans just ripping into Shannen and Holly who of course responded pretty much stating they’re telling their truth. I just don’t get why they need to be entitled and say hurtful comments.
