Gotta stick to that image/brand. But with everyone defending AM I was starting to feel like I was crazy in thinking that she had never been up front, honest and reflective of what happened, she is constantly deflecting. Someone posted her 2021 interview on the Charmed reddit and it blew up, I may of commented myself but in that interview she barely says anything so why say anything at all? On my gosh. Get out. What did AM’s mum say? Alyssa never is truthful. She'll say something but not elaborate. Why mention it at all. So vague. Take it with a grain of salt. TMZ is trash. But her mom may have sent the tip herself. www.tmz.com/2023/12/12/alyssa-milano-mother-lin-refutes-shannen-doherty-claim-divide-charmed/Ouch! No parents to support her. Shannen's mother has been nothing but supportive and we know her Dad sadly passed away. That's nasty to say. Spelling may have loved Milano because she never questioned any producers like Shannen and Holly did repeatedly. Why can't Alyssa speak out then have mommy dearest speaking on her behalf.

Agreed. So many toxic fans harassing Shannen and Holly on their social media pages over it because they don't buy it. 🙄 Fans feel so entitled. That's so horrible that they're giving them a hard time. I skimmed the Reddit page and they're insane. I'm glad I avoid that place. I think this is the thing with Holly - she gets away with being snarky and a mean girl .... but when people want to react and have a different people - she says people should be kind. Its not a matter of not buying it. Its really about perspectives and how they differ. HMC seems to be the anti-Piper in real life. I feel personally - that she is the wedge maker in between the two or at least the exacerbator. If you are going to put hate or controversial things out there - don't expect people to believe your PERCEPTION 100% and expect backlash. To be honest - its not Alyssa's fault that she had a giant machine behind her protecting her and her brand. I don't think the other 2 did.

The Holly podcast is out! I really liked it. Here's a rundown on it: (mostly the Charmed content I'll mention, but lots of interesting stuff about their long friendship) - It was interesting hearing how Holly and Shannen first met. Holly was 19 and Shannan was 20 through friends and Holly's first marriage.
- They talk about Charmed and how they auditioned. Shannen brought up how much she liked Lori Rom and how she fit in well, then about her quitting due to her religious beliefs. Neither have any ill will towards Lori at her decision.
- Shannen was asked to play Piper, and Holly played Phoebe. They mentioned some actress named Dana, but I couldn't figure out if she was meant to originally have the part of Piper or Phoebe. They didn't get into detail about who this Dana actress was.
- Shannen found the first season to be the best to shoot since all three got along so well. But then she said the third was her favorite overall when it came to finding their voices and stories.
- They spoke about how Shannen and Holly were told to stay in their lane due to wanting to colabarate with the writers and producers about their characters.
- Holly was very yes sir in S1 but found her voice to speak out to the producers by the time of S3 like Shannen.
- Holly and Shannen talked about how Connie was the only female producer on set because the other writers were never allowed to leave the writers room. And Connie got pushed out creatively and financially by the male producers for creating her own show.
- Brad Kern had the final say and polished every script. Holly said it didn't matter if they got a fantastic script by Chris, Zack, or Connie; they all came out the same because Brad Kern injected and polished every script and episode.
- Both joked that Brad Kern was an interesting guy; that's all they'll say about him for now.
- Shannen teased a letter Brad Kern sent her that she's going to read on this podcast at some point. He said an apology to her after she left the show, with deep regret for her leaving and talking about him experiencing that show without her. (BIGGEST Juicy revelation I found) It sounds like he regretted firing her and asked her to come back during S7, which we know was when they contacted Shannen to return for the final episode at the time. (Shannen didn't say that, but that's my take and speculation until Shannen reads the letter.)
- She touched on Alyssa briefly about how they were pitted against each other and had competition between the two. And the fact that the title of the book says "Sorry, not Sorry" puts her off. Shannen said you're not freaking sorry, Alyssa. She's not reading her book. (Oh, the shade. Lol 😆 )
- They talked about when Holly and Shannen's dad were being sick in hospital around the same time in S2's filming. How Alyssa and her mom were blocking people from visiting Holly in the hospital. Shannen couldn't even see her. Holly would call Shannen thinking she abandoned her to which Shannen told her she couldn't get into the hospital and was blocked. It caused a brief tiff with Holly, who, because she had teenage parents, didn't know what a family felt like and got sucked into Alyssa's family, swooping in and almost adopting her emotionally. Shannen would cry every night after set because it was causing a wedge between her and Holly.
I was disappointed it ended when I came to the end of the podcast, but good news: Part 2 with Holly is likely next week. I'm already looking forward to it. I'm not surprised that our leading ladies who tried to contribute to their character or show was told to stay in their lane, the world was (or still is) widely dominated by men and having to push through and use their voices more would of been a challenge and disheartening. It makes me sad that Connie was pushed out of her own show that she CREATED, Charmed was always better when Connie was the showrunner. I'm very excited about Shannen reading this letter from Brad Kern, I could see how he would have a deep regret for her leaving/being fired and how there was a hole that was never filled after she was gone from Charmed. I think we all really felt it. I'm very interested to hear what the letter says! I think Shannen finally breaking her silence over what happened between her and AM is so brave and I am keen to hear what she has to say. I know she has spilled some tea already but I wonder what else she has to say? I am so happy that she is finally speaking her truth and she deserves to be heard. I actually had no idea Holly was sick in Season 2 and that AM and her family had driven a wedge between the two of them, that was new to me. I did know about AM apparently being difficult on set throughout the entire series with her apparently saying 'I don't get paid enough for this ***' and running around saying 'I get to kiss Julian' while he was dating Shannen. I'm not sure what set was like from Season 4 onwards but hearing Rose say she cried everytime they got renewed is troubling. It's disheartening to hear, but sadly, its just how it was back then. I do get why so many female actresses get labelled difficult, and told to stay in their lane. Hollywood has always been dominated by male heavy crew for decades and decades. Even when a woman is on set in terms of crew, they are still not treated fairly.
It's so sad what happened to Connie being pushed out. It must hurt her so much, because she literally dropped off the face of the earth and has never spoken about Charmed since. Can't say I blame her. Charmed was her project she brought to life, and it got taken from her.
The letter sounds juicy. I really hope she reads it. I can tell Brad Kern regretted his decision in the long run. But must have been too little too late for Shannen, because she may have come back to the show. I wonder when she received it.
Shannen deserves to tell her story. She has never spoken about it in 20 years in detail. She deserves to share her POV. Alyssa can do the same if she wishes too. And if she doesn't, then that's her choice.
A wedge between Shannen and Holly during S2 is news to me. I had no idea. Damn! So S1 of Charmed was the only season with no drama at all.
The Charmed set seems to be a nightmare. I really think the real toxicity was Kern, The WB's demands and Spelling and his producers. Too many egos and everyone had a hard time working well together.
Gotta stick to that image/brand. But with everyone defending AM I was starting to feel like I was crazy in thinking that she had never been up front, honest and reflective of what happened, she is constantly deflecting. LOL step away for a few days, and I end up missing so much. It sucks that Charmed makes the headlines and its always negative news. Holly and Shannen don't have the PR that Alyssa does.

I think it is very much still quite the same, it probably not as bad as it was, but I think woman still have a hard time in Hollywood no matter what their role is. It is so sad what happened to Connie, I can see why she wouldn't have the heart to discuss or talk about a project so close to her heart, especially as the sisters were based on her and her siblings. I do hope Shannen can get Connie onto the podcast, I would love to hear their discussion! The letter most certainly sounds juicy and I can't wait until Shannen spills the tea! Shannen does deserve to tell her story, she hasn't spoke about it in any detail for 20 years and she deserves to share her truth and I am here for it! I doubt Alyssa will ever do a deep dive into it, she has had countless opportunities to do so but just doesn't, if anything she is vague. Me too! I had no idea that Shannen and Holly had a edge between them during S2, Shannen even states in her podcast that she would cry every night after filming S2 due to their wedge and tension. But Shannen does confirmed that S1 was the only season where they all got along, which is a bit sad. Yeah, I am with you on that.

Well, everyone loves a yes woman, don't they? Lol.
I feel like Alyssa will take this to the grave and will never speak out, apart from the odd meme.

Great run-down. I definitely found the Kern letter bit to be very JUICY as well, and I know she said she'll read it on the podcast one day!
I found her perspective interesting with the hospital visit, because we also heard the story from Holly during an HOH podcast, and while Shannen may have felt denied, Holly said in HOH that Alyssa's family felt very wholesome and took care of her. So to compare that to Shannen's POV is interesting. I feel like Holly was definitely in the middle of them a lot.
I found it interesting that Holly revealed she was approached with Mistresses! I wish she would've done it, seeing as Alyssa had a role on the show as well!
I like that Shannen's really not holding back here. I don't think she's said anything daring, BUT you can just tell that she's gonna be very open on everything. I enjoyed what she said about Kern and Alyssa, and to finally hear her perspective from her mouth and her views.
*last bit, but i was cracking up when Holly and Shannen joked about both having 3 husbands xD

I've got mixed feelings on the actresses not being allowed to have as much of a say into the scripts. On the one hand, I believe Shannen had a better sense for where to take the show than people like Brad. On the other hand, I don't believe Holly and Alyssa's input in the later seasons was for the good of the show. I'm hesitant as well to make Alyssa and her family the bad guys for seemingly keeping Shannen from seeing Holly in the hospital. I don't know any of these people, so maybe they are. I'm having a hard time understanding how they'd even do that, though. It seems like a quick phone call between Shannen and Holly could have cleared that up. And I don't like to speak badly of anyone who's sick, but since she's the one putting all this out there, maybe there was a good reason for Alyssa and her family to pull Holly into their circle and not Shannen. Of course, Holly was an adult at the time and didn't need anyone's family to adopt her or tell her who to keep company with. But if Alyssa had a really stable family, Holly didn't, and Shannen has a side of her personality that was off-putting or mean in some way, maybe that was the reason for Alyssa and her family to rally around Holly and not include Shannen. Or maybe I'm entirely wrong and Shannen was the victim of them being mean to her for no reason. I'm just trying to say that there's two sides to every story. Great perspective. 3 sides to every story, and in this case, 4. Holly said on the HOH podcast that she was appreciative of Alyssa. When Shannen gave her perspective, Holly didn't say anything, and she definitely didn't confirm whether or not she felt abandoned, that was something Shannen said "I could feel that you felt I abandoned you."

Interesting that Holly was approached for Mistresses, because Alyssa got that gig, but left after S2. She's not holding back. She has nothing to lose or gain. I'm so happy we're getting insight after decades of just speculation.
I did like hearing that Holly used to be Shannen's own personal fixer around her house. And that Shannen loves Holly's dry humor.
I keep forgetting that this was only Part 1. Part 2 will be out next week and it'll be the best insights because it'll go into S3 and Shannen's firing. But I'm looking forward to the post-Charmed period of Shannen and Holly's friendship leading to their travel show and Shannen's cancer.

I reckon HMC is playing both sides or maybe she is just giving her perspective which of course is different from Shannen’s as she was on the other side of things. But hearing Shannen say that hurt my heart!

I remember seeing an interview where Alyssa said that Shannen and Holly having been friends for a decade even before filming Charmed made her feel like a third wheel at times and I could see her parents being displeased with watching their daughter feeling like an outsider on set. They may have seen that hospital situation as an opportinity to endear themselves to Holly and kinda strengthen their daughters' position as a result. The fact that mother Milano felt urged to react like that makes me think there is some truth to it, although Shannen also may have tainted memories and perceived the "blocking" as more robust than it really was.
The letter part is interesting. Never thought Kern was a guy capable of giving an apology.

Knew the actors were inputting a little too much of their "ideas" and were most likely told to stop it. Which, IK they (or, at least, Shannen) didn't back down which led to some folks being "let go". Not saying it's right, but that's how it works. And, that Connie was bullied off of her own creation. I've been saying this for YEARS! Yeah, that's just how it was working with a dominant male crew. Not that it's right. But the culture was that the actors act and do what they're told. That's Hollywood for you. It's not just related to Charmed, but pretty much EVERY show had a dominant male crew. So many shows filmed at the time have come out with having similar issues with the crew. Sadly Shannen is victim of not staying in her lane and let go for being so vocal. It's not right, but sadly its how it goes working under a mostly male dominate set. I'm sure most women in Hollywood at the time just stayed quiet and did as they're told out of fear of being fired.

What?? Charisma and Holly now. But Charisma was at Holly's house like five months ago and at Holly's wedding too.
I don't use Reddit, so I have no idea what's happening there. LOL
I couldn’t find the post that the reddit was talking about but apparently Charisma repost a post from Alyssa? That is all I really know. And of course reddit is in a shambles and all the Alyssa defenders are wild. So its turned into a stan war between Alyssa vs Shannen fans. At the end of the day, we all watch Charmed for Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Paige. The stars behind them, we can respect them for what they brought to our show, but we really don't know them at all.

Just signed up for and listened to my very first podcast! THOROUGHLY enjoyed listening to Shannen and can't wait to hear more!
I signed up on Spotify as Esmeralda Wyatt, so if you ever see that name, it's me.
Since I'm brand-new to podcasts (first one that interested me enough to want to listen to) that I want to know. Are there more episodes out and how do I find out they're out and how do I open and hear them?
Thanks for any advice any expert-podcast-listeners can give me.

The second has Holly as a guest. You should be able to see it there. Since the podcast lists all the episodes. Theres a follpw button that allows you to follow the podcast and that should allow you to get notifications for any new episodes I belive. Here's the link: open.spotify.com/episode/58TY2fmzAqPEQTAHvE0Lf4?si=9HdGfqZ2Szmkmz3wFy8JqwHope it works.

Second one has Holly on as a guest for Part 1. Part 2 released next week. I finished listening to it last night. I enjoyed hearing how they became friends. I think this link will take you to the podcast with Holly: open.spotify.com/episode/58TY2fmzAqPEQTAHvE0Lf4?si=yrT44WwmSMm3UtnaipZa2g
