And what is the deal with Supernatural? This show has been on since August and whenever it's on, they keep the same re-opneing sequence, "22 Years Ago...etc, etc,"
When is enough enough?

Here's some more upsetting news: 7th Heaven has been RENEWED for an 11th season.
You know, it's funny - They started cutting budgets on Charmed and even announced the end of 7th Heaven (the lamest show on earth, in my opinion). Then, they hype it up, tell us it's going off the air and then they renew it for an 11th season? What the f*** is that?
Oh, but they couldn't do that for Charmed, could they? But anything for 7th Heaven. I guess they figure since it's a new network, they can renew it after they've already done a series finale? That's bogus, too. It's a double standard.
Whatever.

7th Heaven is the #1 rated show on both networks. The network hopes to bring their fanbase over to the new station to give it a boost and get those viewers interested in their other shows. That's the only reason why it is getting an 11th season.

Here's the new CW website: www.cwtv.com/According to their schedule, there's only one new show. The rest are returning shows. They must have really been some bad pilots, because they even have America's Next Top Model airing twice a week.

The impression I've gotten is that they drew a certain line in the sand and promoted those shows above that line and paid lip service to the rest, as they planned on getting rid of them and bringing in new shows. As you've said (LisaM), they may have found they tossed out too many shows without having anything of sufficient quality to replace them. Charmed, though it's ratings were low this season (and most of last), could have made a comeback, if the execs at the CW had some backbone and invested in it. OK, lot's of water under the bridge and it's not going to happen just because the loyal fans would like it to happen, but it's a shame they had so little courage and so little faith in the cast and crew of Charmed. Granted 7th H brings in a lot more viewers, but Charmed was still one of their top 5-7 rated shows. Very little in the UPN beats Charmed (Next top model and wrestling - well, there's no accounting for taste with either of these superb examples of quality broadcasting). On the WB, Charmed still consistently scored in the top 50% of all WB shows. Still, it just wasn't going to produce enough revenue for them. It's a shame that such good actors are told they aren't wanted any more.
And that's another thing. Not one of the cast, in any interview I've read, has ever said that the CW had offered any of them a role in any other show, new or existing. I work in for a defense contractor and the people are always the company's best asset. Even if their contracts were up on Charmed (which makes them the equivalent of "free agents"), why not make some sort of effort to keep good actors (employees) within the company. Their faces are well known and may Charmed fans would tune in to see what new show they were on. Of course the TV business doesn't work that way, as all actors have agents and such to negotiate deals for them, but it's like they didn't even try. Just here's the door, goodbye and thanks for all the fish. (that last is from the Douglas Adams Hitchhiker books).

To be fair, Alyssa and Rose had both said in interviews prior to the cancellation announcement that they would not do another season. And cost was the biggest factor in the CW's decision to cancel Charmed. If Charmed was getting the ratings it is now and cost the same as a second or third season show (or even a fourth or fifth season show), I'm sure they would have renewed it. But the fact is, Charmed has been costing more money to make than it's bringing in. That was why the WB was going to cancel 7th Heaven, but because it's the top rated show among both networks, they are keeping it awhile longer hoping it will bring viewers over to try out the new network. 7th Heaven has also always been a good lead in show, so they are using it as a lead in for their only new show. But because Charmed has never worked well as a lead in and is the sixth or seventh rated show, combined with costs and the printed statements of two of the three stars not to do another season even if it was renewed, Charmed isn't getting another season. And really, with two of the three sisters gone, it wouldn't really be Charmed anyway. It would be a spin off. Which is what I'm still hoping and working for.

Well I think Alyssa and Rose as well as Kern would say now whatever put them in the better fit. Rose should have left last season then. But she was under contract for one more season. But if they threw more money at her and Alyssa what would they do but they figured if the writings on the wall considering the state of situation the show was in why not say this is my last season. Has Holly stated this was it for her too. Charmed does better ratings than Veronica Mars does and they kept it. This CW I think will put these shows on until they can attract some better show and then with Gilmore Girls and Smallville on their last legs what will they do then. Charmed has better stories in them. I think the Sons would work better in the Charmed storyline than on their own and then build up their audience and then it would be their show but on their own they won't last long.

Actually, Holly recently said (I think it's in Charmed Magazine #11) that she was going to be in the spin off if they did one, but she would have a different work schedule (I presume a lighter one). I think she's the only one of the three that wanted to continue on Charmed.

That would be cool-a spin off with Piper and her family. The finale kind of left an opening for that.

It certainly did, and it was the best 'presentation' of Wyatt and Chris "doing their thing" that's been done since Season Six. I was amazed that Brad promoted them, considering his attitude about "CharmedSons" since the get-go. A BIG opening has been made, and all the fears of a female relation sharing the spotlight I think have been laid to rest (for now, anyway). Although it appears ALL the Halliwell cousins will be magical, Wyatt and Chris will be adults long before the rest of the kids (at least that was implied; notice, the other 'kids' are just that, even as Chris and Wyatt are pictured as adults), and the 'future' sequence clearly shows them working alone...
Brad, you're still a horse's behind, but you did SOMETHING right!

The WB does not need to do anything. If you look at the CW fall schedule, does anybody think this network is going to have any more success than before. Let's see Charmed is gone from Sunday night (average share about 3 for a new episode, 1.75 for repeats at 9). Veronica Mars never got above a 1.5, right? Pepper Dennis is gone, thank God. If you were a Clueless Warlock at the CW, wouldn't you place a call to Brad Kern and ask if he has anything in the Piperline. Piper, Wyatt and Chris with Prudence Melinda, too. Occasional appearances by Paige and Phoebe. Leo can hang around. As for demons, let's develop an anti-Wyatt and an anti-Chris and an anti-Prudence Melinda to developmentally do battle. But, then, again why would anyone trust the Clueless Warlock network?

Clueless Warlock network...Nice one, Vander!
Spin-off with Chris and Wyatt. *thumbs up* No Sister. Piper and Leo gueststaring *nods* when they can. Aunts....I can live without that. Except Prue..she should come in at least once. Of course, Kern shouldn't be allowed anywhere near this show. They'll be timeslots on CW for this show, we all know there will be. America's Top Model has a rerun and 7H won't last much longer.

Two things. I proposed the sister simply because ignoring her changes what we saw in the last episode. Yes, she had a two second, no line appearance, but it was evident she was Piper and Leo's third child. All the sisters had three children. It was no accident or coincidence. She doesn't have to have a major role, just a recurring one. If her presents is seen positively, by viewers, they can start giving her more of a role. If not, then they keep it small. It will depend upon the quality of the actor and how the writers envision her interactions with her brothers. Second, the CW has cancelled some 18 shows and is only keeping a handfull between UPN and the CW. They will need new shows and good concepts, with built in audiences, should go over well. Plus, they will gain back a lot of viewers (like Charmed fans) who are so upset with this network that they are swearing off it entirely. I see it as a no lose situation for them, if they do the show right, promote it well, and get some producers and writers with some imagination.

LisaM: I haven't read the mag, but it doesn't surprise me about HMC wanting to appear in a spinoff. Why not. It's role she's molded for 8 years. It would be easy for her to recreate. And it would probably pay well too.

I don't want to drag this discussion in here, but no, it was not evident that she was their daughter. Her appearance in that scene could be explained as she was Phoebe's daughter, as Piper mentioned Phoebe's kids as she handed her the lunch. Them deliberately leaving out the line where Piper says she had her daughter (while mentioning her restaurant, kids taking over, etc) did leave it open for interpretation. There are people that saw the episode that didn't read spoilers that assumed it was Phoebe's daughter, so there is nothing committing a daughter to Piper and Leo. Because if they did, then the only excuse for her not being in pictures with her brothers would be is if she died before she grew up. I think that would be worse than them never having a daughter at all. So we'll leave it at this--it's all open to interpretation: Some will believe she was their daughter, some won't, and neither side will dissuade the other. But if there was a spin off, she could easily be written off as one of Phoebe's kids in that scene. Although, my preference would be to write the entire season 8 off as a bad dream.
