The Source was supposed to be the source of all evil but then there are so many many demons/forms of evil... u never know when the next one is going to go bad..badder...baddest! Zankou was definitely, for me, the strongest and evil-est demon cos he was super intelligent too! way back in season 4, when the Seer warned the Source of his impending death at the hands of the Charmed Ones, he fell compelled to release the Hollow cos he felt incredibly threatened! However he shudve gone for Phoebe's power first of all. thats where Zankou is so much more intelligent. Piper can blow things up and Paige can teleport/orb and thats all cool but to have fore-knowledge of when and how the charmed ones are going to attack made his position so much stronger!

I have a qeustion about Zankou being imprisoned by the source. How was the source able to imprisone someone so much more powerful and smarter than him? I'm guessing that Zankou wouldn't want to be imprisoned so how would the source win against Zankou?

I am thinking The Source would've had at his disposal a complete array of powers/abilities that made him the Source...not to speak of countless minions willing to do his bidding. Finally he had both the Oracle and the Seer working for him...they cud've easily helped him imprison Zankou!!

see i have to say that barbas is the biggest threat. i mean zankou is very strong and he did outwit the charmed ones but they did vanquish him(i think). barbas is not able to be vanquished. to me that is a greater threat then anyone else.

All things being equal, he didn't see the girls vanquishing the Nexus even with Phoebe's Power so putting himself into that position without anticipating them doing such a thing wasn't "that smart"
I knew the "poisoning the well" option was a possibility even before the girl Elder mentioned it, though would be a last resort as being "Charmed" and wyatt being "twice Blessed" has to do with the Nexus.

He was very smart, but his plans werent always foolproof. He should have listened to his advisors more. especially that one guy, who Zankou vanquished in the last episode. He was right about things that Zankou was wrong about.

I think Zankou was the best big bad yet and I say that because he is the only demon to have the charmed ones beat but he just could not deal the final blow and then he make a mistake by going after the Shadow and that allowed the charmed ones to vanquished him

I loved Zankou. I was really hoping he'd survive the finale and return next season. He made a great big bad.

Well what if (just suppose) Zankou dint actually die like we saw......what if he was pulled out at the last moment by a greater force....which the charmed ones will encounter next season..??

i was wondering abt something...... evry once in a while they keep coming up wit this really powerful demon and then another and then another, apparently the Source did not control the entire underworld and there are always more and more powerful demons coming into the picture..so who controls all things evil.....who controls the whole underworld.....all the demons....  |

i was wondering abt something...... evry once in a while they keep coming up wit this really powerful demon and then another and then another, apparently the Source did not control the entire underworld and there are always more and more powerful demons coming into the picture..so who controls all things evil.....who controls the whole underworld.....all the demons.... Freewill and Free Choice to not obey any authority above you or trying to rule you and opposing the Communist ideal of serving others and disobeying any authority that would want to rule you and make you their slave is the real "evil" and that is just human Nature |

Well, The Demon of Fear and the Grimlocks have already proven that death isn't forever....especially if you pay off or associate with the right people to get a "Get out of Hell free" card.  (Demon of Fear made an arrangement with the Tribunal that governs the protection of Magic, didn't he?) |

thats tru but i'm pretty sure that with that vanquish Zankou's not coming back. BUt i was wondering abt something els this time: In the season 4 episode CHARMED AND DANGEROUS Phoebe had foreseen the Source's attack..which gave them somewhat of an edge and a drive to get working!! This time why dint Phoebe foresee Zankou taking over their powers and the book??? Had she seen that the charmed ones wudve been able to relocate the Book Of Shadows to the Magic School well in time!! That wud've really given them an edge.

Have you noticed a pattern here. At the end of a season there is usually some 'big baddy' the charmed ones have to face off. We've had Cole, the Source, Gideon, the Avatars and many more. In the last season it was Zankou.
Trying to tell who was the most powerful is really difficult. They each have their strong points. I remember one episode where Phoebe says that they must have vanquished the source three times till now, but who was counting. That means the Source is not as weak as we he appears to be when compared with Zankou.
Though I will admit that Zankou does seem to be the smarter of the two, relying more on his brain than on the word of his counselers. But the source was smart enough to realise that Zankou was a threat and lock him up.

Zankou was a good demon, but not great. He was interesting but not amazingly spectacular like Cole, The Grimlocks, Shax and others which appeared earlier in the show.
I wish they could get away from the human-like demons and into demons that look like demons because there's no suspense.

I loved Shax. It wasn't because he was an all-powerful demon but because they hadn't encountered him before. It was a big shock when he appeared because they were lax in their mission to vanquish him, following Phoebe's premonition of beating the blue-assassin.
T'was incredible though. It brought shock back into the Charmed series when suddenly a demon they should have been able to vanquish killed the strongest sister. This was intense.
Now I am not saying kill of another sister, but the demons they face could be a lot more subtle and manage to kill some people instead of having Piper just blow them up or Paige orb something in there way ... *YAWN*. I absolutely adore the genius behind these episodes but we need some fresh demons in my opinion that don't throw fireballs or energy balls. You could have a demon for ANYTHING so they should do that!!!

What I liked about Zankou was that finally a demon that made the sisters realise that they are not immortal, he made them feel vulnerable, defeated and facing eminent death. He had the potential to kill the charmed ones if only he wasn't so obsessed with the Nexus. The reason why demons fail to kill the charmed ones is GREED, they always want more....
I hope in the next season Kern brings another more powerful, smarter demon to keep the sisters on their toes, makes exciting episodes.
