I don't think people gave Billie (Kaley) a chance.
She had only 22 episodes to work with since they were closing the series and they had to do something with her. I would hope that if the show had gone on for more seasons, they would have developed the Billie character more and made her more likable.
Anyway, the way I see it is like this: People hated Kaley's character because it symbolized the end of the show and that's what folks didn't like. If the Pope had been on during the last season, we would have hated him too...simply because he represented the end of the series.

They should have killed her off in the beginning. She was the most hated character on Charmed. Kaley herself even said, "For the 3 people who liked me". If you want that source, I will post it. It's hysterical that she even knew, and I'm sure Kern also knew that she was the most hated character, they should have let her go. Okay, Kern thinks of a new idea and it turns out real bad and real stupid, he should not have let her go on. Anyway, the way I see it is like this: People hated Kaley's character because it symbolized the end of the show and that's what folks didn't like. If the Pope had been on during the last season, we would have hated him too...simply because he represented the end of the series. I'm sorry, but that is not true at all. We all hated her for taking us away from the girls, and putting all the d**n focus on her and finding her long lost sister, and then claiming that they're "ultimate power" HAHA. This season was all about Billie, Billie, Billie, Christy, Billie, Billie.... They took away Leo, and Darryl and put in this bimbo. It's not that she represented the end of Charmed, we all knew it was coming with or without her. It was the fact that she brought it down so much, that we could not enjoy Charmed's last season.

Not to mention that 22 episodes was exactly what Drew Fuller had to make people fall in love with his character of Chris. While I was not one of those people, I never quite disliked the character the way that I learned to dislike Billie.

While I was not one of those people, I never quite disliked the character the way that I learned to dislike Billie. Not to mention Andy who was only a season 1 character who is very much liked. Saying she "only had 22 episodes" is not an excuse. Lucy Lawless is on Battlestar Galactica this season for 10 episodes (after appearing in 2 last season) and has a great following (no, not just me ). Her character has gotten excellent reviews. If an actress is fully capable and they give them good material to work with, then it can work be it one episode or 22. In fact, she was only scheduled for one episode but she got such great reviews they signed her on for half of a season.

LMAO!!! Just like you to throw in some Lucy.
Ah, Billie....As stated before, 22 episodes is NOT an excuse. Dan was in 22 eps and he was loved more than Billie.
The VERY LAST season of Charmed was about....NOPE! Not The Charmed Ones. THAT is why she is so hated/disliked, and because Kaley's acting didn't fit in with Charmed. This was the WORST way to have the last season of a beloved show. We wanted to see our P3, because it would be the last time we saw them. Instead, that stupid, stupid producer gave us....*sighs* Billie.

Billie is cool but Christy sucks (sry, but my opinion).
She's so funny and reminds me of Phoebe when she was younger

I don't know Billie real well but the reason why I don't like her is that she feels like a Mary Sue.
A Mary Sue is someone who just blazed in with super powers that does not even follow Charmed logic. Billie could move stuff with her mind and use her telekinesis to do flips. Not even Prue could do that except for one time when her power was augmented by empathy.
It took Paige months to learn how to orb from one room to another.
Billie's powers are numerous despite the fact that she is very inexperienced.
How did she find out about the Charmed Ones if all she read it from was a couple of books? I doubt that the Charmed Ones would be in any mortal libary. Maybe the Internet or something.

What a lot of you don't understand is that the WB had stipulations for Kern, if they were going to renew Charmed for an eighth and final season.
One of those stipulations was that they bring in a newer, younger female witch to possibly center a spinoff series around, so Kern created the character of Billie.
Some of the other stipulations were that Leo could only be brought back for 10-12 episodes, Darryl had to be written off completely, and the show's budget would be reduced by at least 20%. These stipulations were non-negotiable.

Even though Billie was brought in for a possible spinnoff, one was spawned back durning season 6 with Wyatt and Chris. If Billie did work, the spinoff probally wouldn't have been picked up with the merger and the making of the CW. Mind you, the ratings for most of the WB carry overs did worst this year than last.
Billie didn't mean the end, she was just poorely written. Chris was in 23 or 24 episodes, and by the end of the series he was more loved then Billie.
The progression of her powers was totally unfair. It took Prue almost a season to fully develop her TK power. And half a season to get AP. Billie with in a matter of months went from TK to being able to thought project. Took Paige a matter of months of get control of her powers and she had to face The Source.

I really see Billie as somewhat of a Jubilee or Shadowcat (of the X-Men) to Charmed. She came into the show and really made it young again. The thing with Billie that the Charmed Ones never did, was she embraced her powers.
We don't know what kind of training Billie went through before she first appeared. The Charmed Ones never did any bootcamp-like activities (that we ever knew of) to help train their powers.
Although, I do have a problem with how powerful her powers seem. It just doesn't make sense to me.
All in all, I actually do like Billie. I've heard a lot of somewhat negative buzz surounding her so far but I actually really like her. I mean, she's got good instinct and she's got the heart the Charmed Ones used to have. Although, I kind of think they lost their heart when Prue died. But whatever.

I completely disagree. Billie was 18, not 24 like the youngest Charmed one was when they got their powers. Unlike the sisters, Billie had no idea what it meant to be a witch (exposure risks, lifelong threats to your life, losing loved one) and as soon as her sister popped into her head, she no longer cared about anything other than herself and her sister, but I guess you haven't made it there yet.
Had Billie been written differently and played by a different, less teenie bopper actress, it might have been a decent idea. As it was, it completely changed the dynamics of the show to the Billie show, featuring the Charmed ones.

I disagree about it being the "Billie Show". I mean, I'm already halfway through the season and so far they've built up the powerful farewell to Leo and also the introduction of Paige's will-eventually-be husband.
Another reason why Billie is so powerful is probably because of her recklessness as a witch. She's using her powers as a plaything really whereas the Charmed Ones saw them as a duty. Prue and Piper didn't embrace their powers for a little bit and they were trying to have normal lives. With Billie, it was like she didn't want a normal life.
I still don't understand Billie's obsession with trying to find her sister. Mind you, I'm certainly not in her shoes. But I mean, she barely knew her sister.

Phoebe might have forgiven her, but that doesn't mean Piper did. I don't see Piper as someone would would be friends with Billie. And Phoebe letting the girl babysit her kids..... well, those kids are from Phoebe and Coop, so how much worse could Billie be for them?

At least she might pay attention to them. Instead of Phoebe and Coop paying attention to each other all the time.
