Um..Prue lives and the original P3 continue.... that would have been my ideal... (while, Prue/Piper should would be my love, but better no one died).

Yeah, that would be my alternate ending. Phoebe gets killed down below and stays dead. Prue and Piper (along with Leo and Cole - Cole falls for Prue) continue to protect innocents with just their own powers for another season or two. No Phoebe, no Paige, no Wyatt (or Prudence Melinda), no Chris. Perfect. Especially with what good friends Shannen and Holly are and the fact that Julian was dating Shannen - yes, perfect!
A lot can be said about Shannen Doherty but the fact is this: both Charmed and Beverly Hills 90210 was better when she was on the show.

We'd get a show about family and friendships and saving innocents.

Who gets the premonitions? Without the premonitions, they are at a bit of a loss. I don't think they needed premonitions - they sure didn't from S4 onward when the only time Phoebe got premonitions was to see her own future. |

That's because that asshat Kern never allowed Phoebe's premonitions to continue to be a value to their work . . . like he should. I've always found it ridiculous that the Source had scornfully dismissed the idea of stealing Phoebe's premonition ability in S4, yet he depended heavily upon the Oracle and the Seer.
Information is power. Without it, we can hardly do anything worthwhile. If Kern had adopted this attitude, then perhaps Phoebe (and the series' fans) would have learned to appreciate her abilities a lot more.
The idea of Piper, Prue, Cole and Leo fighting evil without the benefit of a seer seems ridiculous to me.

Prue survives the attack of Shax, he dies.
MIB has in secret made surveillance on the Charmed Ones and get their hands on Shax's body, they remove it before the general public gets to know about real magic.
Years later another "Alien Autopsy" video shows up on the internet, this time the alien looks like Shax and the main population believe its just another one of these fake videos.

Instead of Prue, Piper dies. Phoebe is forced to remain in the Underworld, not aware of the events that have unfolded above ground since time was rewound. The Seer comes to Cole and informs him that there is one way to save Phoebe as escaping will only getting both Phoebe and Prue killed.
Cole approaches the Source with the Seers suggestion, the Seer can turn to Phoebe and evil can have control of the Manor as long as both Prue and Phoebe are left unharmed. The Source agrees but tells him that if either betray him, he will kill all three of them.
The Seer had told Cole that the tonic to turn Phoebe wouldn't be real, that it would be to fool the Source. But it was a lie and she slowly begins to turn Phoebe, while both Phoebe and Cole are unaware of her trick.
Meanwhile, after being kicked out of the Manor by the Source. Prue goes on a hunt for Shax, with Leo alongside her who has refused to use his powers for good until Piper is returned to them.
Running out of options, Prue breaks Phoebe out of the Manor so she can help kill Shax but when confronted with a group of demons, Phoebe jumps out and protects them. Both sisters are confused by Phoebe's actions, Phoebe worries that she might be turning and when Prue blames Cole, Phoebe lashes out and throws a fireball.
The sisters argue but Phoebe points out that Prue's path of vengeance is just as evil as her own, not to mention that unlike Prue, she has know choice. This hits Prue hard, she never considered that what she was doing was wrong. However she embraces this and says that she will do whatever it takes to kill Shax and get Piper back. Phoebe tells her she wants know part of it and the only way she can protect them both now, is to return to the Manor.
As the series progresses, Prue becomes darker and darker but never truly evil. She doesn't go around killing innocents but she doesn't exactly protect them either. Her and Cole also begin an affair when Phoebe truly turns to the other side.

Great imagination, Astral; it's definitely a *different* ending, but one I'm VERY glad wasn't used - I would've stopped watching halfway through the season - much too, MUCH TOO dark for me and all about power and nothing about family. ICK!
ETA: But the funny thing about it is that Shannnen probably would've loved it. Tell her that that's what the final season is going to be about and I'll bet she and Alyssa could've tolerated each other for one more year.

Oh, it definitely doesn't seem ridiculous, because as I said, it was done on the show, and I think it would've made for a much better show than the one we got. But you're right about the Seer. Perhaps Ghost Phoebe would start using the spirit board to warn her sisters about innocents that need saving. That way, still no Alyssa to clash with Shannen and no PhoeME/Freebie, but instead Phoebs as we loved her best. |

Well, I wouldn’t change a thing about the ending of ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! It was a shocking cliffhanger!
Now, the season four premiere...?
Prue and Piper would have both died, by the time Phoebe and Leo escaped from the Underworld with Cole.
Distraught over losing both of her sisters, Phoebe begins to feel guilt ridden over not being able to be there and help them.
Leo attempts to go to the Elders for help, but They tell him there’s nothing that can be done: Piper and Prue cannot be saved.
Cole, wanting to help Phoebe deal through her pain, offers her a risky proposition to save her sisters... The Grimoire. He explains how it’s pretty much the equivalent of an evil Book of Shadows, but that it contains a resurrection ritual that will save her sisters.
Leo warns Phoebe that the Book is pure evil, and using it would risk turning her to the dark side.
Phoebe doesn’t care, she wants her sisters back.
Cole and Phoebe devise a plan to break into the Source’s temple to steal The Grimoire, although Cole is nearly vanquished in the process.
The resurrection spell Phoebe finds requires an ultimate sacrifice, but what that sacrifice details is ambiguous. Casting the ritual anyway, Phoebe successfully brings back Prue and Piper.
Using The Grimoire causes Phoebe to form a psychic link to The Source; and he begins to seduce Phoebe in the same way he did Paige in CHARMED AGAIN. Tainted with evil, Phoebe murders an innocent and becomes The Source’s new prodigy.
The rest of season four deals with the Power of Three broken, and Prue and Piper wrestling with restoring the Power of Three or vanquishing the monster their sister has become.
Cole and Prue could even grow closer with their shared desire to save Phoebe from a life of evil; Cole not wanting Phoebe to bear the burden it brings you.
There would be hints of a romance between Prue and Cole, BUT they would never actually consummate the relationship. Prue out of respect for her sister. Cole because although he and Prue realize they have a lot more in common than they cared to realize, as well as an mutual attraction, he still only really loves Phoebe.
The plot would reach a climax by season four’s penultimate episode - reiterating the bond of sisterhood - Prue and Piper attempt to vanquish Phoebe through a blood bond ritual; “...blood to blood we came to thee, blood to blood we set you free” and end up actually cleansing Phoebe of her evil. The sisters then band together to vanquish The Source in the season finale, but he escapes.
Season 5 would deal with Phoebe returning to good, but having to deal with the fact she’s actually killed innocents and truly embraced evil - while her sisters learn to truly trust her again as well as their final confrontation with The Source.
I think I would end the series after season 5; Piper and Leo expecting a child, Phoebe and Cole (he'd still be half-demon) married, and Prue single, but finally ready to live her life for herself, instead of for her sisters.
Wow, that was a long ramble of thoughts!

WOW, Reality, that was absolutely FANTASTIC, something I would've loved to have seen! What I like best is no Paige, no Wyatt, no Chris, no Billie, no Christy! Perfect! Well, I *do* like Paige, but I would've definitely preferred the three sisters who happened to be witches rather than the three demonslayers who happened to be living in the same Manor!
The problem, of course, would've been convincing Kern, Alyssa, Shannen and Julian. It's the fun of virtual series and fanfics and our own discussions - we can just consider characters and the relationship between them; we don't have to consider personalities and relationships.
It's why I'd prefer the series either ending with Shax saying "It's the End" or after four - Shannen & Alyssa could've tolerated each other for another season if they knew that it would be the last one - also the end of their first contracts.

I agree with Es that your idea was pretty amazing. Any chance you might want to write a fanfic series based on it? It would be really neat to read that storyline in detail.
There are so many cool ideas out there about how Charmed could have ended and this is really high up there.

I figured that with my version of season four, Shannen and Alyssa would share less screen time with each other. With the "break" from each other, maybe somehow the Producers and actresses could work out some sort of deal during season four to allow them to agree to a fifth and final season together; with a guarantee that it would be the last season of the series. Yeah, after writing up that idea I'm very tempted to write a fan fic about it. Just got to actually sit down and devote some time to doing it!  |
