I was just curious, I know I'm out of the challenge, but this was a question I also had in mind for those who went through. Can they remake the DVD like the the season they choose if they want t Just different images? What do you mean? Use the same DVD cover but just change the images of the characters? Well, then only 1/2 of the cover would really be their own work. COOL!! I also thought that you meant they were supposed to just copy the cover, cut out the pictures and then paste in new pictures, and thought that each of the first covers would be a bit boring. The more questions I ask the more I find out how different each can be! NowI'm REALLY excited to see *all* the covers! Hope the final contestant sends his entry in TODAY so we don't have to wait any longer!!

You know what Clare..................LOL. When I first read the rules, what jameslovespiper said was the impression I got. The exact look of the DVD Cover. We never got into detailed on that part when we discussed this task.

^ Melissa, in the rules I said " It must be in the same style as the real Charmed DVD covers", meaning it doesn't have to be exactly like the covers but be similar to them in terms of the text, the font, the layout, etc. ^ Astral Echo, that's ok, as long as you get it PMd to one of the judges before the deadline.

LOL. I know that now. I haven't been feeling good for awhile, and I realized I misread it when I looked over it again. I Pmed one of the entries to tell them of my mistake when they asked me a question. Would that be consider a redone if it was my mistake?

^ Aww, hope you're feeling better soon. If they've already sent it in but feel they want to redo it then it would have to be considered a redo, yes (even if you feel it's your fault).

I am feeling better as of now. And that sucks about the redo, but, it happens. I dunno if their going to redo it or not, but I was just wondering.

Awesome! And yeh it does suck but that's one of the rules of the challenge. Well if they decide to redo, they have until the end of Sunday in your timezone.

© ~B@MeLiSsA24@B~ The Task:For this task you will need to create 2 pieces - both of which will be Charmed DVD covers. Charmed DVD cover #1This cover must be in the style of the actual Charmed DVDs. It can be for any season of your choice and it must feature 1 sister (it can be any of the 4) and 2 other characters from the show (this cannot be any of the sisters) - but remember that the characters you use must actually be in the season you are making the cover for. The rules for this cover:1. You only need to create the front of the DVD cover. 2. It must resemble the size/ratio of the actual Charmed DVDs. 3. It must be in the same style as the real Charmed DVD covers - this means the font, types of images used, backgrounds and the extra little bits on your cover are very important. 4. You must use 3 "cut-out" images - these must be images from photoshoots - and place them onto your cover like how they actually are on the actual Charmed DVDs. Charmed DVD cover #2This cover allows you to be more creative as it will be in your own style and can be either: a - a Charmed Season 9 DVD cover featuring the characters that you think would be the leads in season 9. or b - a Charmed movie DVD cover featuring the characters that you think would be in the movie and featured on the actual DVD case. The rules for this cover:1. You only need to create the front of the DVD cover. 2. You need only do one of the mini-tasks (either "a" or "b" - not both). 3. You must choose an appropriate size/ratio for your DVD cover. 4. It must be in your own style - this means you can use whichever fonts, background images, character images, extras, etc. that you would like and place them wherever you want on the cover. 5. It must feature the title of the show/movie, the season number (if you choose to do "a") or a subtitle for the movie (if you choose to do "b" and you think that the movie would have a subtitle). 6. You can use images of as many or as few characters that you think are appropriate for the cover you choose to create. 7. You can choose which type of image (photoshoot or screencap) to use and whether or not to "cut" these images out. The Overall Rules:1. All work must be your own. 2. You must follow all the rules for the 2 individual mini-tasks. 3. You must use text and can use brushes, textures, etc. but, again, no animations. 4. The deadline to enter your piece for the 3rd round is Sunday 5th October 2008 - although, if all entries are again received before this date, the poll will be able to be opened sooner. 5. You must PM your graphics to any of the 4 judges: Piper HalliwellClare~B@MeLiSsA24@B~charmedgirl086. You must submit 2 DVD covers that satisfy the 2 individual mini-tasks for this round. 7. If you feel you want to redo your entry, you are permitted to do so with the acknowledgment of at least 1 judge once in the whole challenge. 8. Once you have submitted your pieces via PM, you must not tell anyone else which entry is yours or describe what yours looks like until after the results have been announced. 9. These rules are subject to change throughout this round so please check them regularly. If you need help with anything, don't understand the rules or the tasks then just send me a PM. Round 3 Entrants:HollysFan (re-did round 2) [received] Primrose_Empath [received] ~.:Alysha:.~ (re-did round 2) [received] Astral Echo (re-did round 2)JoshyPoo [received] *Mystery* [received] Power~Of~Four [received] Simymonna [received] Mrs. Barbas [pulled out of challenge] Nicholas Halliwell (re-did round 1) [received] Q&AQ: What is the size/ratio of an actual DVD cover?A: You could measure it with a ruler for the size, then work out a ratio so you know what size it should be in pixels. Or you could just estimate the size.Q: What are "cut-out" images?A: By cut-out images, I just mean: i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee155/claresown/cutting.jpg .Q: Can we still use different brushes and stuff? As long as it looks like a Charmed DVD? A: On the 1st cover - you can use brushes and textures as long as it still resembles the style of the actual covers. On the 2nd cover - you can do whatever you want, as it's in your own style. Q: Can we hand the 2 covers in separately or both at the same time? A: They must both be handed in together. Q: Will we lose "marks" if they are bigger than normal DVD covers? A: Since the rules say "It must resemble the size/ratio of the actual Charmed DVDs." - as long as you follow this, you shouldn't lose marks (there's no exact size that your covers should be, just as long as they aren't too big or too small).Q: When we make the first part, is it just a DVD cover saying "Charmed" or is it like a 'remake' of one of the seasons?A: It's just a cover for one of the seasons of your choice with 1 of the sisters and 2 different characters (who appear in that season) on it. You have to do it in the same style as the actual DVD covers but you can alter some of the details - like the colours and photos used, etc - as long as they stay true to the style of the actual covers. It's not a remake of the season, just a redo of the packaging - if you understand.Q: Can we remake the DVD, like the the season we choose, just use different images? A: Do you mean use the same (real) DVD cover but just cut out the images of the characters and paste different ones in? Well, not really because then only 1/2 of the cover would really be your own work.Q: Should we just put "Charmed" on it. Nothing else?A: It should have whatever these: dvd.locutus.be/charmed-season1-8.jpg have on them.Q: Will we get marked down if we have done the cover for both the front and back?A: No, you won't get marked down since the rules state "You only need to create the front of the DVD cover." - meaning you only need to do the front but if you want to do the back too, then you can.Q: Just to be clear, The 1st one is from one of the seasons and has to have just 1 sister and then any 2 other characters from that same season? And the 2nd can have any characters that would be the leads?A: Yes, for the 1st cover - choose a season then 1 sister and 2 other characters from that same season. And again, yes, for the 2nd cover - use whoever you think would be the leads in the movie or season 9. Q: Does the 2nd also have to be the same size and style of the charmed DVDs? A: The 2nd cover should be in your own style and it's up to you about the size of it (since this one is in your own style) - so think about how you would present the DVD, would it be in a big box like the actual boxsets or a slim case like some DVDs are? But if you use the same size for both covers then that is fine.Q: I've hit artists block - would it be o.k. if I sent some stuff to you and asked for your opinion? Or sent it to someone else?A: It's not against the rules to show drafts of your work (draft work before you've submitted the final piece) to other people but really, it is unfair since those people could know what your final piece will look like. I think I will make that a new rule in the next round - not to show any work to anyone until after the results. Q: Do the pictures have to be from actual Charmed promos? Or can they be from any photoshoot the actor has done? A: Any photoshoots.Q: I don't have the Charmed font on my computer anymore, does that mean i'm out of the challenge?A: If you can't get the exact font, just use one that looks similar. You aren't out of the challenge just because of that.

THe whole bit of being given wrong info from a judge, following that info then having to count fixing the judge's error as a redo SUCKS! That's not in the *least bit* fair! If Melissa truly gave wrong info, it should NOT count as a redo!
Assassin, if that's truly a rule, it's another one to be changed when you do the OFFICIAL contest! If the rules aren't clear (note how many people misunderstood it) and a judge doesn't give the right info, that should NOT count against the contestant!

^ I said that because people would have complained if I bent the rules for certain competitors. The entrant sent their work in early, they would have had time to ask another judge if they still weren't sure about it. I will ask all the judges their opinions on this, and if they feel that it was Melissa's mistake and not the entrants, and then the person remakes their piece, it will not count as a redo. I have tried to make the rules as clear as I can but not everyone in the challenge speaks English as their first language or some people just may not fully understand some of the rules, so of course they will ask questions. I can only give so much information without taking away the creativity of the task - if I give too much info, the entries would all be very similar.

If you hadn't posted the entries yet, how would anyone but the judges know that it was or wasn't a redo? We have no idea which contestant is the one that Melissa gave wrong info to. Naturally, once the entries are posted and the deadline passed, then the contestants would be out of luck.
English is my first language and I misunderstood. I would've copied a cover, cut out two of the actresses' images and replaced it with images from photoshoots for two other actors who appeared in that season. I wouldn't even have asked a judge. I truly thought that that's what all of the first covers were going to be like--strictly to show how well the contestants can cut and paste. But say I did ask a judge and the judge gave me an answer, why would I ask another judge?? Don't all of the judges know the rules?
I like that you are going to discuss it with the other judges, Clare. I think that's what bothered me more than anything else, that one judge said one other thing and that another judge immediately contradicted her. I thought that all of the judges understood all of the rules. If a judge didn't, especially a judge whose first language is English, then obviously the rules weren't clear.

It's not about only the judges knowing who's sent their pieces in, it's that in other competitions and things in life you don't usually get the option to redo something once you've entered it. Can I just ask, for future descriptions of tasks, which part of the rules & task gives you the impression that you just have to cut out the original images of the characters and just paste 3 new ones in? Yes, all the judges know all the rules but I guess we all view them slightly differently and I don't know why you would ask another, but maybe just to double check?

Again. If you haven't posted them yet, how would anyone but another judge know if it's a redo? That's the part that bothers me. That a judge gave wrong info and that it counts against the contestant and why would the contestant have to double-check? I guess they'll have to from here on in...
Maybe I'm misunderstanding (the problem with discussing things online...). Did the judge give bad info to the contestant after the entry was sent in? That's totally different. I thought that it was given BEFORE the entry was sent.

The person who entered their piece would know that it was a redo. I'm not sure about that, you'd have to ask Melissa - I've sent her a PM. Anyway, this contest was supposed to be for fun so can we leave it there now please?

No offense Es but your turning everything into a competition, as if this was a national contest or something. It's meant to be fun and wasn't it you, who said only a few pages back that this is meant to be fun? I believe you complained about the fact that they're were "pro"'s in the contest and the fact that was unfair.
I think it's only fair that it counts as a redo as I did too as I didn't quite understand the rules but it's just a "game" it's no the end of the world. The person should of looked more carefully or asked if they were unsure before they submitted, I know I wish I had!
