Do you think that Phoebe grow as a person/witch throughout the eight seasons of Charmed? Why or why not?

Yeah I thought that Phoebe did mature. At first she was a young- woman who didnt no where she was going and what she wanted to do with her life with no job. As the season went on she got a job that she loved and she went through some relationships that didnt turn out all that great but made her stronger as a witch and as a regular person.

Yes and no. To the extent that she was Phoebe, professional woman, graduate student, resolute leader of the Charmed Ones (Charmaggedon), she did grow in stature. To the extent that she revealed herself as nattering twit, aka PhoeME, obsessed with all things boy crazy, then NO!

She also failed to grow as a witch. Phoebe didn't work on harnessing her powers...instead, she kung-fu-chopped every demon that shimmered in, and then drowned herself in her work.
And flirted with every male being who walked through The Bay Mirror.

I think Phoebe did go through an evolution. We were introduced to her as this former badgirl who didn't know what she was going to do with her life. She was also closed-off to men (or at least subconsciously).
Then, Phoebe went to college and met Cole. From there, she continued on to get a job, get married and even go evil! However, she became overworked (didn't we already see this with Prue?) and she went on a major manhunt not having any real lasting (or memorable) relationships over the show (better than Paige who had pretty much none throughout most of the series).
She also evolved as a sister. She went from someone who couldn't last a second without fighting with her sisters (more specifically Prue) to someone who would sacrifice herself for them.

The list basically goes:
Cole (Seasons 3 & 4) Miles (Season 5) Jason (Seasons 5 & 6) Leslie (Season 7) Dex (Season 8) Coop (Season 8)
I don't count Drake, because Phoebe never seriously considered a relationship with him. I'm also not counting the guys she dated on occasion during Seasons 1 & 2 (such as Hans), because they weren't recurring characters. And Phoebe's relationship with Clay took place offscreen, in the time period prior to Season 1.

Now that's a tiny list. I find it funny because everyone calls Phoebe so easy... if someone compared her list to the lists of other leading ladies on television... they'd see how hers seems to be so small.
I'm sorry. But I get really miffed when people call Phoebe Freebie and whatnot. She's not some flake like people make her out to be. Over eight years, you think someone would have more than 5 boyfriends.

I remember when Phoebe had that vision about her future baby, she went on a dating spree to find the future father. In fact, I think that she used the phone book and went alphabetically.

Except you are forgetting when Phoebe was systematically going through the alphabet looking for a boyfriend (Spin City). Even Chris lost track of who she was hooking up (or touching in order to force a premonition) with on any given day.
Her evolution was stalled also by Crimes and Witch Demeanors. Why was Phoebe the only one to lose her powers? Oh, that's right. Budget cuts meant that levitation had to go. And, throwing fireballs was too costly!

I'll admit the whole dating-spree thing was a little much. But you have to admit, you have a vision about the future and being pregnant (which you've been wanting for a little while), obviously you're going to try and make it come true.

Well, I'm definitely not a Phoebe fan and I don't think she did very much growing at all during the series (the most between seasons one and two, IMO), but to be fair, we did see some of Phoebe's mothering in season two's, "Reckless Abandon."

Well, if you go by that...doesn't seem like Piper would be that good of a mother. Yet she has two kids.

I still don't understand how levitation was so dang expensive. I love Paige, but I'll be the first to say that her powers were crazy costy! I mean, they spent obscene amounts of money to orb things instead of trying to save money with cheaper programs. (i.e. Teenagers on YouTube can replicate orbing for nothing more than the cost of buying the program they use!) And yet they chose to cut a Charmed One's powers instead of, say, cutting down on Wyatt's orbing powers or having Paige use her car more or something.

I agree. They could have still had Phoebe with powers and took away some of the other things. Orbing left and right....WHY?! Also, she could have had EMPATHY. And I mean REAL empathy. Not using powers kind that Phoebe had, but senses emotions. What, that only costs...a ding sound?

1) Concerning Phoebe's mothering. Phoebe I think was always the girl who was the most into love. Although, Prue had Andy and Piper had Leo long before Phoebe got Cole.
Also, the only reason Piper became motherly was because they kind of forced her to be. Once they learned of Piper becoming a mother they forced her into that position. The best example I can think of was in "All Halliwell's Eve" when they make her deliver the baby because she'll have one in the future.
2) Phoebe's powers. Yeah... levitation... it's just... a harness and a rope...? Couldn't be THAT expensive. Then again, that could be one of the reasons they haven't really made Clark fly on Smallville.
The orbing was useful in certain aspects. Let's not forget that they probably saved money on that because the cars they used in the show were most likely sponsored.
Phoebe actually had the cheapest powers. I think they wanted to cut hers because the levitation was lame and they knew it. The only way to write it out was to write out all of them.

Levitation aside. How many fireballs did Charmed launch across the seasons? Season 4 seems to me like a fireball friendly time at Charmed. Even Phoebe got in on it. Season 6, another well-funded season, had fireballs too. Phoebe even redirected a few (Used Karma). Maybe shooting flames across the stage was expensive. Certainly, it was more expensive than having demons flame into the astral plane.

I think the fireballs and such can be budgeted to special effects. I don't know, fireballs are essentials to supernatural shows. But then again, not when it's the default power for every demon.
