Lori Rom: The Original Phoebe Halliwell

Hi everyone!!!

Was able to download and watch the unaired pilot of Charmed. Lori Rom was the first Phoebe Halliwell for the pilot. Shannon and Holly Marie were the original Prue and Piper as well.



Don't really know why she got kicked out before the show even aired... I watched the whole pilot and I think she did make a good performance. Maybe she wasn't famous enough?



Who knew what directions the show might have taken if Lori Rom was kept as Phoebe.

Lori Rom supposedly decided to drop Charmed at the last minute due to personal reasons. So they went and found Alyssa Milano for the role.

Some say that the personal reason had to do with her own religion or whatnot.. but I don't get then why she took the role in the first place.

I saw some of the unaired pilot. Lori Rom was ok... but she just didn't convince me that she was the youngest sister. She didn't seem rebellious enough.. too much of a goody-goody look and just cover her with some leather or whatnot.. heh. that's what I think.

Yeah Lori wasn't kicked off the show. She left for some personal reason so she left the show on her own

If Lori was able to just leave after filming only one episode, the girls could not have had contracts until after the first episode was filmed.

If they did, in fact, have contracts, Lori would not have been able to just leave like she did, she would have had to have been fired, like Shannen, as that is the only way one can be released from a contract.

Well since there hadn't benn an episode that aired and they were only doing the pilot episode to see how everything would actually work would the girls have had contracts yet? I mean like contracts that would last for so many years/seasons?

I think that an actress can still be let out of a contract due to certain personal reasons. I have also heard that she was pregnant or something and that was another reason she left the show. Besides, I think they probably revised the contract if there was a contract after Lori left the show so they could be sure that that kind of thing didn't happen again. And since the pilot hadn't aired yet, I don't think they were all that concerned.

I was watching this episode of House last night. When the guest stars were going up, I thought I saw the name Lori Rom. I could have been wrong because they were pretty fast. Does anyone know for sure? It was a Christmas episode with nuns.

for the unaired pilot, and if you compare the two there's a scene missing, that they must have added when they re shot it with Alyssa.
Also in the dvd of the first season they have the unaired pilot on it.

There's also an unaired pilot episode of buffy where willow is a different actress.

Yes Lori Rom was one of the nuns in that episode of House. Someone posted somewhere before that Lori was in that episode of House when it first aired.

Yeah I was watching house the other night and saw her name too. That show is soo good. Yah it says somewhere that it's on the first season dvd set.

The pilot definitly is not on the dvd set of the first season. I got the first season for Christmas and would've definitly notice if it was there.

There are no special features or extra episodes on Charmed 1-3. The only way to get the unaired pilot is by downloading it.

Lori's episode was a 'Pilot', an episode made by Spelling to try to sell "Charmed" to the WB. As it was a single shot (contracts are not generally signed until a series is 'picked up'), she could certainly have left without being fired. ("The A-Team" pilot featured a different actor as 'Face' than Dirk Benedict; such things happen!) I've heard that she left for 'personal reasons', as well, but the sudden availability of Alyssa, who Spelling always respected, certainly was a likely factor, as well...

I've seen the episode, and Lori isn't bad, actually, but she was bland, compared to Alyssa, who brought a much more youthful 'cuteness' to the role and the mix, as well as 'name' value nearly as big as Shannen's.

i saw the unaired pilot and i thought lori rom was clearly miscast as pheobe. her acting was ok, but her looks were all wrong. she appeared older than shannen and holly marie, and she lacked the "joie de vivre" that pheobe's character needed. she was dowdy and uninteresting when placed beside the other two characters. Question--does anyone know why they replaced the original andy?

I too have seen it and she was like the leader, instead of Prue! And no offence, but she really couldn't act, it was like a bad horror movie!

I remember the trailer for the series premeire, and seeing her!!! I thought she looked older than Shannon!!! Plus, Lori was taller then both Shannon and Holly, which is weird because she was suppose to be a younger sister. I think Alyssa was great for the part, she just...was Phoebe!!!
