Oh, maracev, give me time to work this out. I'm just now at the beginning phases of my research. Let me put forth the hypothesis, though, that PhoeME certainly announced her presence for the first time in "The Legend of Sleepy Halliwell". You'll quote the line better than me, but here goes: "And what do I have? Me, just me! Phoebe says after describing that what Piper and Paige have!
Besides, there are so many other issues in Season 8 to deal with.

I think people should give Phoebe a break, am not exactly a Phoebe fan, but she didnt think of herself all the time... she has issues yeah, but come on, everyone thinks of themselves when they want to.

Not everyone thinks of themselves all the time and puts her wants before their families needs. Piper needed Phoebe the most once Leo was gone but Phoebe didn't care she just left anyway.
I thought this was the Lori Rom thread not the Phoebe thread....

Yes, it is. We sort of got sidetracked. There was however a clear preference for Alyssa over Lori in the role of Phoebe, whatever that role later devolved into. Let me clarify my comments: I think I understand where I am getting this "cherubic" notion from. True, Alyssa's face was somewhat rounder then before emaciation set in. However, it was her hair style. The short cropped hair ending at her jawline really did give the impression that her face (head) was cherubic after all. Clearly, Lori Rom did not possess this in the shots used.

Having watched the infamous episode with Lori Rom in it... I think I have to say that as Im used to Alyssa Milano, I prefer it with Alyssa... Lori doesnt seem to portray Phoebe as good as Alyssa does and this is why I think that whoever it was, made a good decision to put Alyssa in the series instead of Lori...
And Phoebe needed to find herself...

Ok I am very offended by anyone who is saying that just because Alyssa had a rounder face in seasone one that that makes her "cherubic"!! Not every female in the human race needs to be a perfect size zero and look (or be) anorexic or belemic. That is a disgusting concept many people have adopted!!!

Where did that come from? Wow! I don't understand where the problem lies. Maybe I'm just daff! In the event, I was comparing later Phoebe with earlier Phoebe and why I was led to the impression that the earlier Phoebe struck me as a naively innocent, warm adventure seeker. In part, this stemmed from her short cropped hair which gave a rounder image to her face. That I associate such roundness with cherubic probably has more to do with the history of western religious art than any desire to have women with only size 0. Since I'm a male, I suppose that means excruciatingly thin! But, Charmed is not to blame - nor am I - for such biases. Just look at the waifs competing for America's next top model! As Clara might say: "Where's the beef?"

In fairness she did look really slim faced towards the end of Charmed, but then so did Paige, infact Paige looked skeletal!! and yeah, Im a curvy size14 which is average in the UK and I hate it when the media portrays the image that girls have to be timy sized to be sexy... My fella loves me and my figure...

The pilot definitly is not on the dvd set of the first season. I got the first season for Christmas and would've definitly notice if it was there. Good to know... I thought I was going crazy trying to look for it after seeing it mentioned in the thread. Guess it's time to download. Thanks to whomever for giving the links. |

I just want to say a couple of things. First I'm glad that they ended up going with Alyssa. She's my favorite. Two, P3, I love your banner..it rocks!!!! Thirdly, they said they were trying to get the pilot episode as an extra on the Charmed eigth season dvd set . Brad Kern said they had to go through their lawyers to make sure that they could include it in the box set...you know all that legal junk but he did say he would try like hell to get it in there. I'm still going to download it though..I'm interested to see this Lori Rom.

I watched the pilot the other night. It was okay. I guess after having seen the episodes with Alyssa Milano, I just can't see another person playing the part. There seemed to be something missing, but that's just my opinion.
It would be nice if the lawyers can get together and come to an agreement to get it put on the Season 8 DVD set. That would be a nice piece of history....

The original pilot was never intended to be included with the Season 1 DVD. There was a remote possibility that it was to be included with the Season 8 DVD Extras. It won't be. So download away! Maybe someday, they will put it out, but I wouldn't hold my breath!

I think that Alyssa is a much better Phoebe than Lori would have been. For one all the sisters are the same height, with brown hair and brown eyes, whereas Lori was like 2 foot taller than Holly and Shannen. Shannen had green eyes but still looked like a sister.
Now that Rose, Alyssa and Holly are together, they look like true sisters, they are all the same height, they all have brown and hair and they all have brown eyes, it all matches. Lori would have stuck out like a sore thumb.

Not all sisters or siblings match. In fact quite a few actually do. I have black hair, my 2 sisters have brown hair, my sisters and I do all have brown eyes, but my brother has blonde hair and blue eyes, yet we're all still true and biological siblings.

I thought the unaired version was meant only to show TV executives what was intended. Nobody ever talks about the guy that played Andy (also replaced) or the fact that Darryl doesn't even show up at all! Why isn't there a "guy who played Andy in the original episode" thread?  |
