On one hand, Piper can be great. And sometimes . . . she's not that great. Like most people.

Piper is great although sometimes her way of handleling things is not right (freaking out, yelling at someone....) that's what makes her Piper. She rocks!

She's okay. Piper is an interesting character. But I do get tired of others putting her on a pedestal.

Turn back time and change the past so that Piper has no clue about true magic and Leo. What kind of Piper do you then get ?
If it was not of all the impacts and experiences she has had over the years, she would be a person far from what you got to know and it all started with a couple of lines read by Phoebe, because she discovered the Book Of Shadows. You can kinda say its thanks to Phoebe that she became the person she ended up becomming.

Is that good or bad? I wonder if it's a little bit of both.

Piper's situation and what she developed into sure is Pro and Contra and that issue, but atleast she met a nice guy like Leo because of it and got a great future with him out of it at the end.
A thing that i belive would never had happened if it was not for Phoebe.

I think that she should have lost Leo in Season 8. I cannot help but feel that it was the wrong thing for Piper and her sisters to allow the Elders to use Leo's life as a bargaining chip so that they resume being under the Elders' authority again . . . even for that one season. I feel that it was wrong and that Piper and Leo - especially Piper - should have eventually paid the price.
Also, Piper could have met and happily married some other guy if she had never became a witch. I really don't see anything positive about her becoming a witch, because she had not done so with her own free will.

It's too bad that she had to endure a great deal of pain and betrayal to achieve that great future with that "nice" guy.

Isn't that the curse of all "great tv relationships"?

I agree with ljones that Prue was the better leader and this is coming from someone who has loved Piper since the beginning. But Piper was a good leader too. Both Piper and Prue made mistakes when they were the leaders. I agree that both Piper and Prue made mistakes. And I also agree that Prue was the better leader. She was more a natural leader.

When necessary, but she was still a lot more lenient than Prue was. I don't think that Piper was more "lenient" than Prue. They were about equal, in my opinion.

Talk about barking orders. See the interaction between Piper and Paige in Charmed and Dangerous. She can be tough, but Piper also yields. She is more flexible as a leader than Prue perhaps was. And Prue remained a better leader. I'm sorry. I realized that you all love Piper. Of the three sisters between Seasons 4-8, Piper was also my favorite. But Prue was a lot better as a leader than Piper ever was. My opinion on this matter will never change. The Charmed Ones made too many mistakes when Piper was the so-called leader. I agree. I love Piper, too, but that doesn't mean that I think she was a better leader. Some people are natural born leaders, and some are not. Piper was not a natural born leader. However, Prue was a natural born leader. I love myself, but I would not say I'm a leader.

Notice that I never said Piper was a better leader but I understand and still defend the point that when Prue died it made the most sense for her to be the one to take over that role and she did a fine job at it with so little "training". They had very different personalities and most definitely different styles, so it's unfair to compare them. I think it's fairly obvious that the charmed ones made a very fatal mistake when Prue was the "so called" leader. Piper died because of a mistake they made under Prue's command. In the end, it cost Prue her own life. There were plenty of mistakes with Piper as the leader as well.

Prue wasn't supposed to die. I'm pretty sure they had planned on bringing both Prue and Piper back for season 4. If you want to compare, how about Apocalypse not? Prue followed the guy by herself and got herself into a big 'ol mess as well. Piper had chased that very same guy (by herself) earlier in that very same episode when she was with Leo.
