No, it wasn't! At least it wasn't when it was Charmed! Charmed is a a family drama with supernatural overtones - when it turned into a supernatural show - around Season Five - that's when it became "The Perils of Poor, Poor, Pitiful Piper." Charmed was about three sisters who happened to be witches, not when it tried to turn itself into a Buffy-wannabe about three demonslayers who happened to live in the same manor.

Buffy, Angel, Supernatural and Grimm I see them as supernatural shows which can easily be compared with each other. Charmed I would place in the realm of Desperate Housewives, 7th Heaven with a bit of Ghost Whisperer and Once Upon a Time. And while what attracted me to Charmed were supernatural powers and beings, what made me love it wasn’t the supernatural stuff, but watching how the sisters led their normal lives while fulfilling their duties as protectors of innocents. So I see it more as a family or rather sisterly drama first. Which was interesting for S1-4 and a few in S5 but after that it just went downhill along with the supernatural part.

Decided to bounce this one forward to see what our new members think.
Remember - you don't have to stick with what the comics show if you'd prefer something different.

Okay this was posted in another topic about the next generations powers but as it concerns the charmed ones kids I might as well post it here save me typing all over again.
In my charmed fanfiction series the halliwell's future children were the new charmed ones after their parents transferred their powers into them before being killed by the new Source's assistant who was the sisters midwife but Cole and Victor got some male witch friends of the Halliwell's to strip and house the kids powers so the future Source wouldn't find them magically and had them adopted until they were 18 when he did find them and had their adopted families killed for not identifying where the children were thus making the Elders realise the new P03's powers having the kids form that and move into halliwell manor etc.
The abilities each child had revered their parents. Patty telekinesis like Prue. Melissa orbing, sensing, healing with help from another whitelighter, hearing her charges, speaking their language and freezing things like her mum Piper but in orbs due to her other side from her real father Leo which she had powers from also who was killed along with the original charmed ones. And Ben premonitions like Phoebe plus shimmering and energy balls like his father Cole who was the only person that didn't die like Leo and Andy.
Mel had two children with Cole but their powers were bound at birth due to the witch trials that went on during that and only featured in two stories really so I never decided what they would've had, had they'd got them afterwards.
When Mel goes back in time years later to stop her mum and aunts been killed by "The Source Of All Evil" from a premonition Ben had she switches powers with her half whitelighter/witch best friend Suzanne so the future P03 still existed gaining orbing, cloaking, invisibility, sensing, hearing charges and speaking their language etc and healing only when Leo loses his wings becoming the P03's new whitelighter for a short time before Shax attacked her and the P03 where she swapped powers with Phoebe so the younger halliwell could save Cole down in the underworld whilst she helped vanquish Shax with the other two.
She kept Phoebe's powers after her and Prue died but killed evil differently using weapons like potions bullets in guns, athames, crossbows etc and inheriting "The Green Destiny" sword from Li Mu Bai "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" 'cause she only had astral projection other than premonitions which the third sister had instead of levitation which Prue got so Mel needed a more defensive side to her along with martial arts which made her different from Piper and Paige and what she still used years later even after gaining Empathy like Phoebe on the show did which was different because the powers entirely based so no channeling evils ones although the power was dulled down first because of her being cursed with it previously. She loses her powers for misusing them after trying to find out who turned her brother Wyatt evil but regain them back later.
Mel's third child Charlotte Phoebe Winchester Hale named after Melinda Warrens mother and great aunt Phoebe is her and Sam Winchester from Supernatural's daughter they have in the new future after Mel meets him the year previous. She has premonitions like Mel but not by touching things because of having demon blood in her which she got from Sam that also allowed her to dispossess demons and kill them also which she uses the latter sparingly due to how dangerous that is especially if used on humans etc.
Her fourth child James whom she adopted after the ultimate battle is either a demigod, modern day wizard or something which I haven't wrote that far yet so don't know who he is really but Melinda her fifth child is a "Nephilim" created between her and Castiel from Supernatural during a time in Purgatory and inherits astral projection like Prue but can manipulate this later also where the other couldn't plus has a few angelic powers via Cass which I'm not sure of what yet but like Mel doesn't have these originally as she didn't in her future as there bound and cloaked when she's adopted at birth also after an angel nearly kills her Piper, Paige and her mother before she's born but gains them later in life when she discovers Mel and Cass.
Wyatt has whitelighter/witch powers but not as many ones on the show because I thought he was too powerful there but they include anyway telekinetic orbing-remote orbing like Paige and normal orbing, healing, sensing, hearing the elders and charges. And Chris doesn't have telekinesis as I didn't like the fact everyone seemed to have the first power a lot so I swapped that and gave him what his older sister Mel had in her original future because he's the male version of her sorter which coupled with his older brother and niece were the future P03.
Paige's kids Tamora and Kat have pyrokinesis and cryokinesis like their ancestors did in the twenties offsetting each other as twins and Henry Jr stays human like in the comics.

I noticed this thread and realized that although I have posted in it, I never posted about my Charmed spin-off about the next generation. I have a post about a storyline I've worked on but not written the stories for, so I figure I will post about the series I have actually posted episodes of. I call it Charmed: Heritage. The name comes from the idea that their heritage is that they are the children of the Charmed Ones. It is not strictly a Charmed Sons series, although it does focus more on Wyatt and Chris than on other members of their family. I use what information I had as of the end of "Forever Charmed" and I was bound by a rule, at the time, that said Wyatt and Chris had no sister. I fully believe that the girl in the last episode is their sister, but for my series I made her into a girl named Kali Nicolae who grew up across the street, the daughter of Ava Nicolae of "The Eyes Have It." In my series Piper has just the two boys, Wyatt Matthew Halliwell and Christopher Perry Halliwell, at least until "Morality Bites 2: Biting Back." I have heard arguments for other middle names for Chris, but that is what I decided to use, so that is his name. Their sister, and yes, I said sister, is named Melinda Halliwell Wyatt, Halliwell being her middle name and not a hyphenated last name. Melinda is from the "Morality Bites" time line and thus not close to either Wyatt or Chris and also shares a birthday with Wyatt. She is currently in Portland, Oregon, if I remember correctly, but will not be remaining there much longer. Phoebe and Coop have the three girls. I named them Prudence Brianna (named for one of the Warren witches mentioned on the show) who takes the fact that she was named after her mom's older sister quite seriously and is very into photography, Pricilla Venus (her middle name is a nod to the fact that her dad is a cupid) who is daddy's little matchmaker with the emotional type of empathy rather than the kind that her mom has, and Pearl Hope (who gets her first name from the one I chose to use for one of the twenties cousins) who is the baby of the generation and goes by her middle name rather than her first. Ladybug (Prudence Brianna) can levitate (and I accidentally gave her the ability to travel via hearts. Since it's canon for the series now, she keeps the ability). Cilly (Pricilla Venus) has empathy and traveling via hearts and in one episode she got a cupid ring, something she's not sure if she really wants to have or not, but it was necessary for something she was trying to do. Hope has not yet come into her powers, something that bugs her quite a bit. She will get them in time. The first episode I know she has them in is in the middle of my season two and is called "Blood Will Tell." I am very eager to tell that story, but there is a lot of things to go between now and then and I am having some issues with the current episode. It has a lot going on and I'm trying to keep everything straight. Paige and Henry have three kids. The twins are named Alanna Samantha (after Allen Halliwell and Samuel Wilder) and Janice Patricia (after Allen's sister, Janice, and Patty Halliwell). I have since come to realize that I probably wasn't thinking properly on that one, but Lanna and Jani have their names and they will keep them. I gave Henry the middle name of Wallace and named their son Henry Wallace Mitchell Jr. He goes by the name of Hank. Alanna has a fire creation ability similar to Past Phoebe while Jani's ability is with ice, similiar to Past Prue. Hank's powers were stolen from him by the elders in "Morality Bites 2: Biting Back" and have not yet been revealed. He is the only one of the generation with full whitelighter abilities. His sisters cannot even orb. (On that topic, I chose to give Chris elder powers, but I hate the whole lightning thing, so he has invisibility and a much unwanted ability to "jingle" whitelighters.) And then there is Prue. I already said that Melinda was from the "Morality Bites" universe, well, so it Prue . . . sort of. She has the memories of both timelines. In my connected series "Charmed: Witch Hunts" which takes place in the "Morality Bites" universe, Prue and Piper had a lot of changing to do. Over the course of that, Prue ended up saving the life of a whitelighter who had been shot by a darklighter while protecting his charge. That whitelighter was Andy. Ultimately they married and unlike Piper and Leo (in that timeline) they stayed together. However due to Andy's status as dead they moved to Boston, where the witch hunts were not being pursued. They have two daughters, Patricia "Pat" Phoebe Trudeau and Victoria "Vicki" Penelope Trudeau. Vicki was born shortly after the death of Victor. They are all named after dead loved ones of Prue. Had they any sons, Andy would have gotten to name them. In that time line Paige and Henry (who I have in that time line and are married in that time line) only had one child, Little Henry, who died at the age of four. Prue, Andy, Melinda, Pat, and Vicki ended up in the Charmed: Heritage time line due to an attempt to try to reverse the deaths of Piper and Paige in their time line. If you want to understand more of what happened, I believe the two part "Morality Bites 2: Biting Back" is on this site under spin-offs and if it's not, it is on fanfiction.net and my CharmedHeritage.proboards.com. So that's my main set of kids for the Charmed Ones. I have more to it than that, as later seasons have information on future generations including at least one of that generation getting married and Piper's first grandchild. That, however, is not for a long time. I think when I have time I will share another of my sets of kids, since every time I make a series I use a different set of kids and I have a lot of series.

Ah, the Brood Of Brats. I have to commend all the authors here who have had to deal with them. It's not an easy task, and I wish you all the best of luck in your endevours As for me, I have no intention of foisting a rug rat on Rex and Hannah anytime soon. I mean they're in Lovecraft Country now, hardly a place to have kids. Of course, Rex and Hannah are destined to have children at some point. There is a recurring character that I created, Jenkalu "Kalu" Hannah Buckland, their 34th Century descendent, that I've brought back from time to time (of course, R&H don't know that Kalu is their descendent). So children for R&H will happen. As I said, when I finally decide to drop the curtain on Rex and Hannah for good, I'll have Hannah announce she's pregnant. Until then, however, R&H will remain child free.

I know how I'd write it. Episode One - A new Source takes power and kills them all, the world turns evil and Prue turns in her grave. The end.

That girl isn't Wyatt & Chris' sister. In fact, she isn't even from the same timeline as them!

This Melinda, and her time line, no longer exists. It's not this Melinda that the fans hate (since Wyatt and Chris don't even exist in this time line), it's Mystery Girl they hate.

It's hard not to notice that Melinda appeared to be around the same age that Wyatt would've been in 2009, so she probably shared the same birthday as him--February 2, 2003. That means that Piper and Leo probably also divorced around the same time as they did in Reality Prime (late spring/summer 2003), but for different reasons (since Leo never became an Elder in this timeline) and without ever reuniting (hence the reason why Chris/Christina didn't exist).
I wonder what about the future changed to cause Piper to go from having one daughter to having two sons? I have a theory.
In the "Morality Bites" timeline, the sisters went down a darker path of personal gain. They abandoned their Charmed duties to use magic solely for their own benefit rather than the greater good, eventually leading to Nathaniel Pratt's witch hunts and Phoebe getting convicted of murder. It's safe to say that the sisters probably never even went after the Source (thus, possibly explaining why Prue was still alive; they never became a target of the Source, so Shax was never sent to blast anyone through the wall), let alone defeated him. Thus, their destiny as the Charmed Ones went unfulfilled.
Ever wonder why Warrens only ever had daughters in the first place? Melinda Warren prophesied the Charmed Ones as three sister witches, so that may have "cursed" the Warren line to only having daughters until the Charmed Ones were born. With the Charmed prophecy fulfilled, the Warren line no longer needed to be female only, thus the "curse" was broken.
Since the sisters of the "Morality Bites" timeline never defeated the Source and abandoned their Charmed Destiny for a selfish life of personal gain, Melinda Warren's prophecy went unfulfilled and the "curse" of Warrens only having daughters was never broken, hence Piper having a daughter.
On the other hand, in Reality Prime, the sisters continued on the right path and ended up defeating the Source twice, first as Half-Face and second as Cole, so Melinda Warren's prophecy was fulfilled and the "curse" was broken, hence Piper having two sons, instead.

This makes sense IF you change it to show that there *were* male Warrens but they didn't have powers before Wyatt and Chris. Despite Grams' grumbles (we know who taught Chris how to tell lies - after all, the only Halliwell women who kept their name was Patty and (thanks to Grams) Piper. Grams is *not* a Halliwell - she's Penelope Johnson Halliwell) about males, she also said she had a brother, who shows up on the family tree, as Gordon II, but who didn't have powers. I'm sure there were more than just him. I agree totally with your "Morality Bites" timeline, but not your "Reality Prime". I agree that the reason why Melinda became a boy is because of the sisters "fulfilling their destiny", but I find that as much of a bunch of Kern hooey as Chris saving Wyatt (who still turned evil in Season Seven), since their destiny was *not* to defeat the Source - it was to protect innocents. It didn't become defeating the Source until Season Four, all part of why I'm sure Reality Prime is *not* the one where Prue is dead and Wyatt and Chris exist - that's Reality Kern, an alternate universe one. In Reality Kern, once the sisters defeated the Source and the sisters were given the choice to give up their powers and they agreed, that's when Fetus Prudence Melinda literally turned into Fetus Wyatt Matthew - a too-powerful brat with his own prophecy that no one ever heard of before, and that's when the show permanently jumped the shark as protecting the Brat became more important than protecting innocents. Had they not kept their powers, he would've remained Prudence Melinda (the name they were going to give Wyatt if he was a girl and who is Morality Bite's Melinda in this timeline), Piper and Leo's true child. Wyatt and Chris' sister might have been *named* Melinda, but she isn't Morality Bites' Melinda. The Charmed wiki is totally wrong regarding that - that's *their* head canon, but it's *not* canon, since it makes no sense when you add in what happened in "Morality Bites".

Death of the Author, Es. The point was to explain the Melinda/Wyatt changes without just saying "Kern did it." Wyatt and Chris' sister might have been *named* Melinda, but she isn't Morality Bites' Melinda. The Charmed wiki is totally wrong regarding that - that's *their* head canon, but it's *not* canon, since it makes no sense when you add in what happened in "Morality Bites". Wyatt and Chris don't have a sister named Melinda in canon. Mystery Girl is just that, a mystery. She was never named nor given an identity in the actual aired episode. Yes, you can argue that Kern intended for her to be a younger sister, as well as intended for her to be named either "Melinda" or "Prudence Melinda," but again, Death of the Author. The only thing that is canon is what happens onscreen; Kern's intent doesn't mean jack.

For all we know, Mystery Girl was just a friend visiting, or the daughter of a friend that Piper was babysitting. She has no canon identity at all.
The Charmed wiki is full of you-know-what. They don't know canon from fanon. Do not rely on them for any real information.

Or as we know from Back to the Future movies, the future can change without noticing. One subtle change, i.e. Prue's death, can make an impact to all around her, especially family. At first, Phoebe should have a boy with great power, later it became Wyatt as the Twice Blessed. Killing anyone who should have been in the picture and then being killed/vanquished. You create your own life, not some great "design" or destiny!
