Hi everyone! I am new here, and a big fan of Charmed! I wanted to share something I found! Don't know if you already knew about it.... Long Live The Queen Original EndingI got a copy of the Long Live The Queen script two months ago, and was shocked as ever to see the ending to the episode was completely changed.
Heres the original script ending for Long Live The Queen that I got from my script: (I have a pd copy of it) So copied and pasted it. Do you think they should of kept this one in.
INT. MANOR - PHOEBE'S BEDROOM - DAY
Phoebe's sitting up in bed, arms around her folded legs, staring out the window. A box of kleenex is next to her surrounded by several crumpled, used tissues. A long beat then a soft KNOCK at the door.
PHOEBE Yeah ... ?
The door opens and in walks Piper and Paige.
PIPER We don't want to intrude ...
PHOEBE No, it's okay, really. (takes tissue, wipes away a tear) Running out of tissue anyway.
PAIGE (sits) It's gonna take time.
PHOEBE I know ...
Phoebe looks at her sisters, with some combination of grief and shame.
PHOEBE (cont'd) I'm so sorry.
PIPER Phoebe, no. You don't have to--
PHOEBE Please, just let me say this ...
Piper and Paige reluctantly fall quiet. Phoebe considers what she wants to say ...
PHOEBE (cont' d) I guess Love is blind," doesn't quite . cut it ...
PAIGE Works for me.
PHOEBE I can't imagine what I put you through. I wish I had turned into a Fury or a Banshee or a Vampire so I'd have an excuse--
PAIGE Phoebe, you're pregnant with ev--
PHOEBE No, I could've fought that. I'm fighting it now ...just loved him. I loved him and I couldn't imagine life without him. And I'm so sorry.
PIPER That's the last time you get to apologize.
Phoebe nods, trying to hold it together, but ultimately, she breaks into tears. Her sisters surround her with arms, pulling her into a hug.
PHOEBE I miss him so much. I think I'll miss him for the rest of my life. But the one thing that Keeps me going is knowing that I'll always have a part of him with me.
Phoebe touches her belly. Piper and Paige exchange worried looks -- who's gonna say it?
PAIGE Um, Phoebes--
PHOEBE I know. · But he's still my baby ....
PAIGE But isn't he-- I mean, isn't he ...
PIPER Honey, isn't he demonic?
PHOEBE Without the Seer's tonic to reinforce the evil, I chose good. So why can't my baby do the same?
PIPER You're inherently good. You're the daughter of a good witch and a good man. But your baby-- he's the son of The Source. That's not so easy to overcome.
But on this point, Phoebe is unflinching.
PHOEBE He's my son, Piper. And he may be part Source, but he's also part Cole. I have to believe there's a way to raise him good. (resolute) I need to believe that.
As Piper and Paige exchange looks, preparing themselves for' what they know will be an uphill battle, Phoebe looks back out the window, her hands on her belly, tears streaming down her face as we ...
FADE TO BLACK. END OF EPISODE
I really loved this ending, I liked the original one, but I actually liked this ending better as originally written.

I'm going to have to think about that before I vote. Although I really like this, I ADORE the final scene with Piper and Paige comforting Phoebe (much as I wish it had been PRUE and Piper...). But if Phoebe truly felt this way, her mourning the loss of her child may have changed the way she treated that child's father, and I don't think she would've spread her legs as quickly for Jason. I can't help wondering if that's why we got the alternate ending - The WB wanted sexy, hunky guest stars for the unmarried Charmed Ones to jump...

First of all welcome And never knew about a :)different ending existed to this episode. Even though I like this conversation between the sisters, I'll always love the original ending. It was powerful and the best sisterly moment on the show. This one just feels a bit casual of sorts, like many days have passed since Cole's death. It is better suited for the beginning of the next episode. Some of the dialogues are actually in Womb Raider, like the part Source and part Cole bit.

Hmmm...thinking about it, I agree. You're right - this scene would've made a much-better start to the next episode, especially if time had passed, as it had on the show - I always thought they rushed it too much which is why I'll always wish they could've kept Prue for one more season so they wouldn't have used as much time on introducing Paige - even if Paige's introduction was the only thing I liked about Season Four... But who knows? If it hadn't been as rushed, I might have liked it better....
NOT!

I do like this ending, because it is so much better that they didn't brush off all the issues with Phoebe and her child. But the original ending is good, maybe we could have this scene open up the next episode, and they could say that Phoebe has left her room in days.
I wished Prue was here though just for season 4, like how if Prue did stay on for just one more season, then season 5 could be all about Paige's introduction while Prue gets the original destiny with the source vanquish, and leave Paige for the second half of the series.
I'd love so loved for Phoebe and her son story to have been a story-arc in season 5, they can just delay Piper's pregnancy for another season into season 6, which timing would work well with Holly's pregnancy. That way the 100th episode would be a wrap up of Cole/Phoebe and the son storyline, and keeping the seer as the big bad for all of season 5.

Not only do Prue and Paige get a more equal number of seasons, but Season 5 also gets a much-needed storyline. And, having Piper's pregnancy with Wyatt (who wouldn't be Twice-Blessed) coincide with Holly's actual pregnancy means that the Chris storyline doesn't have to be rushed and can develop at a natural pace. Zankou could be the Big Bad for the rest of the series after the Seer (and would be the villain in the Chris story instead of Gideon--he and Not!warts would never exist, period).

It would've made such a better series! You really should do a fanfiction series showing your ideas of how S4-8 should've gone... Or if not a full series, an Episode Guide...that way you can show your ideas without actually having to figure out how to make them work.

This whole discussion is reminding me of how I *was* going to do my latest re-watch, but then couldn't once I hit "Sleuthing with the Enemy". For fans who do like Season Four, I wonder what their reaction towards watching it this way would be. I know that I will always wish the series had been more like this - I'm positive I'd still be able to enjoy the earlier seasons the way I did the first time I watched the series, when Season Three was actually my favorite and Piper and Leo was my favorite love story until "Oh, My Goddess!" I have a question Es. Will you be doing all 8 seasons, or just the first three or four? No, Seer, I'm not. As I've said in a number of other threads (so anyone who's already read this, just skip this post..) I'm doing it a different way in hoping that I'll be able to enjoy more of Charmed than just the first three seasons as I have during previous re-watches. Dstarr was the one who suggested it, but rather than linking to her thread I'll just tell you that she suggested watching S1-4 and skipping S5 & 6 - just pretending that there's a sign that says "Two Years Later". She also suggested SKIPPING the following S7 episodes: A Call to Arms Bare Witch Project Cheaper by the Coven Charrrmed Someone to Witch Over Me Once in a Blue Moon Ordinary Witches Imaginary Friends And, of course, she totally skips the travesty that is S8. She pointed out that doing it this way, the Avatar plot that dragged on for 13 episodes is now limited to 6 and by skipping S5 and S6 and those S7 episodes, their attitudes make more sense - Piper seems to be like she was in S4; Phoebe's experience as Queen of the Underworld seems to have matured her, and the experience has made Paige more comfortable with her sisters. She also said that without the background of the changes in the sisters as shown in S5 and S6, the parts of the Avatar plot that bugged her so much when she watched Seasons Five and Six first didn't bug her as much this way. She also pointed out that this version of Charmed gives Cole and Phoebe better closure. She is very obsessive about Cole, and hates how Kern misused him and turned him into the obsessed stalker in Season 5, making a mockery of his and Phoebe's love. Like me, she said she tends to think that if he really loved Phoebe, instead of stalking and tormenting her, he would leave her alone and let her move on. Besides, his vanquish is a lot more memorable in Season Four than in "Centennial Charmed", besides it truly being Phoebe who helped vanquish him, not an alternate version with Paige’s help. Instead, “Witch Way Now” shows that he had enough strength to return to save her life, but Dstarr interprets on her own that he lost his strength and faded into the limbo that we see in “Seven Year Witch”. And she thinks that him helping her move on by introducing her to Drake makes the perfect closure. That’s why for fans who love Phoebe and Cole (which I don't right now but I might after this rewatch), she thinks that watching these episodes directly after Season Four is so much better. Like me, she also sees very little similarities in what the Avatars in S5 did and the ones in S7 did, so this takes away that consistency problem. I'm also hoping that doing it this way will change my reaction towards Leo and Piper, once my own favorite couple but anything but once Leo became an Elder. I know I liked them as a couple when I rewatched "Scry Hard" and "Little Box of Horrors" on TNT during a vacation, so I hope this will help put them back in that spot. Dstarr said that she likes watching “Styx Feet Under” as the S7 premiere because it has them trying to protect an innocent. She said she thinks it's more suitable than "A Witch's Tale" or "A Call to Arms" since they decided at the end of S4 to keep their powers in order to continue their destiny to help innocents - not protect the Twice Blessed Brat as is shown to be their new destiny in S5 and S6, the reason she skips “Someone to Witch Over Me” and “Imaginary Fiends”. Like me, she can't stand Wyatt having a million powers and being more powerful than his mother and aunts - this way he is never referred to as the Twice Blessed Child and the only powers he shows are orbing and his shield, both which make sense for a baby who has a whitelighter for a father. I'm very eager to see if this change changes my reaction towards Piper, Phoebe, Paige, Leo and Cole, characters I loved before S4 but slowly learned to hate, mainly because of what happens in S5 and S6, but because I've discovered my memory for the earlier episodes has gotten so bad, that's why I'm doing my full rewatch, but done this way. If you want to join me, Seer, I'd love it! Just do it at your own pace and feel free to put your own reactions to the various episodes in my thread. Reality Bites is doing his own re-watch, but is only going to review each season, probably in his own thread. Feel free to do it however you want. Ditto to anyone else, including anyone who wants to do it either Dstarr's way, the entire thing or however else you want to do it. I know there's a fan at a different site who can't stand Prue, so he's starting with Charmed Again and going from there. More power to him! Different strokes for different folks. Oh, doing it this way is *not* something I would recommend to people who are watching Charmed for the first time - some fans do like those missing seasons and I've never felt it's my place to tell people what they should or shouldn't like. And, of course, if they like those seasons (yes, Chrisacholic, I'm especially thinking of you...), then they should watch them and enjoy them. But for anyone who doesn't like the changes in the main characters, I highly recommend giving this a try.

I'm gonna have to say that I hate it, the ending scene of that episode, where Phoebe and Piper finally accept Paige is one of my absolute favorite moments of the entire series, it was beautiful. And I wouldn't change anything about it.

We Chris fans may be small in number nowadays, but we're still out there, like it or not.

Amen to that. Betty and I were both proud members of the Charmed Sons campaign, as was Jana, StoryGirl83, and a couple of others here that I noticed. We happen to LIKE Chris. And, as I have said, he saved Season Six from being another rubbish season like S5.

We Chris fans may be small in number nowadays, but we're still out there, like it or not. Oh, yes, I know. And that's why I don't suggest that newbies skip S6 - they may decide they like the brat, too. But even you Chris-fans must admit that if you used the idea of Phoebe and her son, also using Wyatt and Chris would be redundant. Now if Chris was coming back to save his cousin (and save him, not murder him as was obviously Chris' original intent) while Phoebe was pregnant with his cousin during Season Five, that would be much better, since it wouldn't have the series ignore Phoebe and Paige and be all about Piper and her family. And that would be even better, since it would show that it's not parentage that decides if a child is good or evil, but how he was raised. I'd love it to be proven that it's the potion the Seer gives Phoebe that makes her and her child evil, not the fact that her child's father was the Source of All Evil at the time. Besides, as you pointed out, it would make more sense since Holly was pregnant during S6, so Chris could go back to the future where he belongs after just a few days and then Piper could become pregnant with him the following season. Much, much better.

It's still crap since the dumbass sisters never realized that Cole was the one who needed saving from the Source and the Seer.
There is no way to determine how a child will turn out. It's all a crap shoot, regardless of parentage or how that child is raised. When will humans realize there are no guarantees in life.

I thought it was rushed. Phoebe already had to deal with her sister dying, now Cole and her baby.
Remember how upset she got when she thought Paige was dying? Not again. Cole saw it would destroy her. It was brushed off as the baby was never mine.

Personally, I loved the ending to Long Live the Queen. Phoebe crying and her sisters comforting her without words. It really showed a natural chemistry between Piper, Phoebe and Paige which I liked more than Prue, Piper and Phoebe myself personally because Paige is my favorite. I always wondered how the season would have gone had Piper been the one to die instead of Prue. Prue, Phoebe and Paige would make an interesting power of three.

I'm on the fence. Great story. This would make a better opening to the next episode but only if they planned on keeping the baby and shifting the story around.
I can see why they cut it because they ended and abandoned the potenial in the very next episode.
But interesting to consider if they kept Cole dead and the baby stayed. That means Piper wouldn't be pregnant in S5.

I want to see them develop this after Phoebe's dream. It would've worked. She shows signs throughout the EP until they actually vanquish him.
