Looks like New Orleans and Virginia Beach is in the lead dears. I am curious about Virginia Beach as a setting, and if it would work here?

Well this Charmed prequel is set in New England. So could Charmed have fitted well here?
I voted for New Orleans and Seattle.

But if they attempt another reboot *sigh* I'm curious what setting they will pick this time dears. bumping this thread up, because the discussion came up in conversation dears when I was speaking with my granddaughter recently, and I remembered we had a thread like this at the Cafe.

I know it isn't an option on the poll, but I liked the idea of San Francisco, even though the flavor of the city wasn't there. Between the bay, the architecture, the parks, and the hilly streets, it's a beautiful city. There are also many different areas as well. Some of the parks are huge, there are quieter residential areas, and some areas are more urban and filled with people.
The idea of a small town just doesn't appeal to me. I don't think they'd be able to keep their secret in a place like that where there's less for people to pay attention to. More people would know them and they'd be less able to blend into the crowds. I liked the anonymity they were able to have in the city, as well as having more options for jobs without having to travel.
And it seems like a paradox, but I think they actually were closer together in a city than they would be in a small town. In a smaller place, they'd know a larger percentage of the people and have more connections. In the city, they knew a much lower percentage of the people and had to rely more on each other. I liked that their group was small and it truly felt at times like it was the three of them against the world.

Apart from the beautiful shots of San Francisco and the stock footage used all the time, Charmed barely did anything with the culture of San Francisco at all. Which surprised me. Maybe the writers wanted a city and just went with whatever they could find that were appealing and they had stock footage and shots to use.
Lots of good cities and places in this poll. All of which would be perfect for a reboot.

Yeah I loved San Francisco to for all the reasons Elle Em said which the show was the reason why actually it got me interested in that the first place although I knew about it beforehand and agree that the sisters needed a big place to live in to what they did without being exposed constantly.
I would love to go there on holiday provided I had the money as would my mum to obviously.

I like the idea of a big city and a different coast. Out of the list I like New Orleans and New York would be interesting to see.

Very interesting question!
I've traveled to many of these states with my work and lived in five cities in my life. My answer is none because Charmed or the writers would never understand the culture of the location unless they went and visited it for proper research.
Virginia Beach is an odd pick, I'm puzzled why it is so high. But being set in a big city works, because a small town wouldn't work for Charmed in my honest opinion.

I think Virginia Beach was chosen because it's where there's a large group of New Agers and the Charmed Ones would've fit in well there. But you're right - the producers would've ignored the culture except tiny mentions here and there like the Charmed Ones going to Chinatown for herbs. It probably wouldn't be that different except for the stock footage of the city. It reminds me of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". I live in Minneapolis and we had a blast howling at all the things they got wrong. The one I remember the most is talking about going dancing at Ember's. Ember's was a local restaurant - no dancing there!

Ember's was a local restaurant - no dancing there! Well got my answer! Haven't been to Virginia Beach. I guess the crew of Charmed had stock footage of the city and went the lazy way. Full House may have had some stock footage handy after it ended. I feel bad for tourists who want to go dancing at Ember's or find the location. How heartbreaking and horrible to learn it was a local restaurant. That sort of thing I would be upset over for sure.

Voted New Orleans. But I didn't know Virginia Beach had a large group of New Agers.

New Orleans and Seattle.
The reboot is being set in Michigan. Wonder how that will fair than San Francisco.

The reboot is being set in Michigan. Wonder how that will fair than San Francisco. The important question is...will it ever show on the show? I am so sick of shiws that take place in cold weather and it never snows, when you know it is December in canon timeline. Your filming location and time isn't an excuse.

Tell me about it, it is a pet peeve of mine when they are so inaccurate. Again, might be because I'm always traveling on business trips often in the year to different states. So I just get annoyed more, with how poorly shows are with not researching the state they set a series. But if you are doing a Christmas episode or one set in December, don't forget about snow and cold weather. Otherwise, don't schedule one in December. But I'm sure The CW will, hopefully, they will be accurate. Charmed never was with San Francisco, I hope they do a better job with Michigan and its culture, and they didn't just randomly put a pin on any state to set this series in. *sigh*

I actually chose Salem, but not for the reasons others might think. I think it would have been incredibly interesting to see how the show might have played out being set in a town made popular purely because of witch hunts. How different would it have been if the sisters had been brought up being constantly inundated with stereotypical and mythical views on witches and witchcraft? How different would they have felt when they received their powers? Would they have all been much more against it, or would they have been more into embracing it, excited to break the stereotypes? It would also provide a great way for the sisters to delve deeper into the history of witchcraft, and to "teach" the audience the correct history.

That's what many of us members have done with our own reboot called Elemental Charmed by checking in with history of Salem and incorporating real events into some ideas for episodes. If you want to take a look it is in the fan fiction board. I'd love to see what you think of it greeneyedgirl?

I understand I was the same when I first saw it. Here is a link to our latest update: I've linked it so it is all you will see. It has all we have done so far in a nice order. Perfect for you to read, and not need to go through 27 pages. It will give you all the rundown on what we have done so far. I might even pull these over to our reviewer thread, so you can comment on it there. Here is a link to our latest update: thecharmedcafe.proboards.com/post/455922

I think the 1993 movie, "Hocus Pocus" got it right. The Sanderson sisters were hanged at the beginning of the film.
