Oh man! After my success with my first thread, thought of another one. Based on my earlier poll, but wondering about just Season One.
What was your reaction towards Season One the first time you watched it and what is your reaction now? Just choose one choice.

When I first watched season 1, I was only 12. I went back and watched reruns of it after first seeing the show in season 3, so the tone was a lot different than the Charmed I was used to. I liked it, but I didn't care for it a whole lot.
I recently went back and re-watched it, and I love it so much. There is something so comfortable about feeling like you can go back in time and watch this first very innocent season play out. I love how different it is from the rest of the show. If the other seasons that followed managed to keep at least partly the same tone of this season, I think I'd love the show more than I already do. It had such depth and potential here.
Season 3 has been my favorite now for 15 years, but season 1 might actually replace it now.

Since I started watching at nearly 30, mine won't change as drastically than the younger crowd who were kids and teenagers when they first sampled the show. Just the fun of rewatching your favorite shows years later.

I liked it the first time I watched it, but now I love it more each time I watch it. Season Two was my favorite season - this one has completely replaced that as my favorite - mainly because I can't watch Season Two without remembering what will happen to Piper and Leo in later seasons and wishing that when he left in 'Love Hurts' that he had stayed gone so Piper and Leo's love story would've been my favorite love story on the show. As is, Piper and Mark's is.

And since I started watching shortly after turning 45, mine won't change even less - the only way it changed was when knowing what would happen in the future affected my reaction towards the characters, especially in relationships.

Still loved by this girl. Look at my sig and you can clearly see why - has my favorite episode of all time in it. But dears - I just adore our first season and it is still on top to this day. However I have a soft spot for season 2 too.

I liked it. The first couple of episodes are not good, but the season finds it's tone after that. Season 1 is quite special, I'm still enjoying it.

Liked it originally, now I love it. I think when I was young and first saw the series when it originally aired, season 3 and 4 were my favorites, they still are. But Season 1 has this special quality that I really am beginning to appreciate it more now.

I still like it a lot. I had some problems with the season's rigid morality, but I had figured the series would eventually overcome it.

I loved Season 1 when I started watching and still love it. I like more of the later episodes in the season, and have some episode I don't care for all that much, but it still ranks high to me.

I LOVE Season 1, such a great season. So many fond memories, I love Andy, I love the sisters growing into their roles as protectors of the innocents, I love Quake and I loved Leo and how he was used here. Great demons, warlocks and threats. If only they didn't change too much going into season 2 and 3, and kept things on par with season 1. Oh well.

Still love season 1. It had that darker theme to it and I had wished they continued with it. They sort of reclaimed that somewhat with season 4. There were episodes that genuinely scared me a bit the first time I watched it when it aired. Like From Fear to Eternity, That scene wth Prue in the shower and Barbas watching her and Prue's hair going grey and nearly drowning. The Woogy in the house one with Phoebe all possessed and the manor going dark and not knowing what phoebe would do, the power of two with the ghost of Alcatraz just to name a couple. But I was just 16 then and back then it took very little to scare me but I would keep watching.
There were also some other memorable and funny episodes for me like when Phoebe became a fortune teller to make money to buy Prue a gift. And no matter how bad any of the episodes seemed there was always a side story within the main story going on with one of the sisters that made up for it. Like in feats of clay, more interesting was how Piper tried to use magic to match her clumsy bartender with her staff and it backfires. And I loved the sisters meeting at quake at the end of the day vs the club in later seasons.

Still love season 1.
So much that the show did well in season 1 didn't carry forward. Might have to do with a majority of the writing staff exiting after season 1 and 2. I love Andy. Like the way Leo was written. I especially liked the little we got of the Elders and The Source, with only vague mentions.
The darker theme here is different than those of season 3 and 4. It had a quality, I can't put my finger on that worked better than season 4.

I voted still love season 1. It's what got me interested in the show, and I really enjoyed being taken on the journey of the sisters learning they are witches. Watching Prue and Phoebe grow closer, watching them struggle with their jobs and normal lives, and watching Andy and Darryl's character. I even liked Piper and Leo's relationship growing.

I still love it. Such a great season and I liked many of the episodes. A couple I don't like, but I still would watch those than many in other seasons.

I really loved Season 1. I think it was a great way to introduce all the different characters, and establish relationships between them. My only problem is that it felt very Prue-centric, which soured me on the character quickly.

My only problem is that it felt very Prue-centric, which soured me on the character quickly. That's only because Shannen was always supposed to be the star - it was never supposed to be an ensemble series the way the reboot is supposed to be. I soured on Prue at the beginning because she was such a stick-in-the-mud and by that point my heart was totally won over by Phoebs. That changed during 'The Witch is Back' when I found myself loving all three sisters, which remained until Piper told Leo that he was the one in S2 and she started treating him so shabbily and he let her.

Oh, okay, thank you! That makes a lot more sense! I did not start watching the series until it was already established as more of an ensemble series and Paige was introduced, so I can see how my view might have already been unknowingly biased. I am really happy they ended up making it more focused on all three sisters instead of just one - I think that is part of what makes the series so good!

That's quite okay. It's amazing how much when a fan started watching Charmed )their reaction towards the show. But that's okay - it's all part of the fun of being fans - our differing opinions.
For example, that's what I feel about S6-8 - that it should've been about all three sisters and not just about Piper and her husband and her sons, and, oh, yes, didn't she have sisters and didn't they have powers, too? I always count S6 as THE PERILS OF POOR, POOR PITIFUL PIPER STARRING HOLLY MARIE COMBS, BRIAN KRAUSE AND DREW FULLER, featuring Dorian Gregory, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan. Had I started watching Charmed in Season Six rather than Season One, I never would've kept watching because between Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper, PhoeME and Ditzy Valley Girl Paige (the lighter her hair, the lower her IQ - the peroxide went straight to her brain - I started liking her (and only her) in Season 7 - just about when her hair went back to being dark and she looked like a Halliwell again), I didn't like any of the starring characters.
But it seems like the younger the member was when they started watching, the more they preferred the later seasons, and I started watching in my 40's, so I have a totally different viewpoint than someone who started watching as a teen or younger.
