Season Six: Your views, before and now

After rewatching and going through a skip-though rewatch of the entire series with my 12 year old niece watching it for the first time...

I have a new found respect for Season 6 in the era that television was starting to transform with Tivo and torrents being able to be downloaded. The first sort of streaming era.

Season 6 tries to be a bit futuristic and is rejecting the gothy 90's era that has well and truly gone.

My niece loves the Chris identify unvealing and unlike me, she LOVES Season 6. Enjoys magic school because Harry Potter is all she's ever known! and if you speed up the series season's into about 10-12 episodes per season - you can enjoy rewatching and storytelling Season 6.


We watched:


6x01& 6x02 - great special effects and offset locations for filiming. Valkyres are actually pretty cool.

6x10 - Chris Crossed - skipped the first 1/3 of Season 6 because it serves no real purpose. The Wyatt drama gets repetitive.

"Spin City" - Chris resentment to Leo explained. Best charcter development of Season 6.

"Crimes and Witch Demeanors" - Phoebe's powers stripped, flashbacks, Sheridan and Daryl distancing intro for Season 7.


CRAP "A Wrong Day's Journey into Right" - Skip Got to be one of the worst episodes of Charmed.

SEMI-CRAP"Witch Wars" - Watch last 15 mins, explains the set up for the 50/50 finale.

NECESSARY CRAP FOR SEASON 7 EXPLANATION
It's a Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad World - Chris leaves
It's a Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad World - Chris dies, Leo kills Gideon, Great special effects.

• Spin City is def my stand out of Season 6.
• The Richard and Paige stuff at the beginning is not bad. 
• The sooner Chris is revealed the better it was for me. 
• Leo is great in this Season.
• Alyssa Milano is working really hard but the scripts are not serving her character. Rose is almost a bystander but for me now, is more likable than Prue.

I think watching Season 6 with these 9 or 10ish episodes gives it a renewed 6/10 for me from my original 3.5/10. 

It's a shame Phoebe couldn't make it work with Jason (or grey's anatomy!) or her Powers.

Witchstock is a cool epiosde with Jennifer Rhodes but not entirely neccessary.

Overall season 6 redeemed in my eyes by way of shortening Season 6 down and my 12 year old niece really relating to Chris, and the next generation as well as the sibling rivalry storyline. 

Its a shame Drew Fuller didn't come back more perhaps with Lady Bug or Melinda or Wyatt.

Like I've been saying, S6 is not the absolute worst season, but I've always said, it isn't the best, either. Again, from the S5-S8 section of the show, I think it holds up pretty well. And, the episodes you don't like, I agree aren't the best and reflects the re-watch opinions. Though, I like S6E17 "Hyde School Reunion" more than most LOL

As always though, the good episodes are as you mentioned:

Yeah its ok. It serves a middle series purpose. 

In recently doing a condensed rewatch of Season 5, I also gave Season 5 a new rating of 6/10 as well from its original 4/10 overall. Season 6 is overall for me is still a 3.5/10

Condensed Season Five - 14 episodes (Season 6 condensed for me is 9 or 10 episodes)
My Condensed rewatches explain overall storyline with necessary episodes (usually including premiers and finales, not A Call to Arms for season 7) and standout individual episodes like The Eyes That Have It and Sense and Sensibility (but dont change over all storyline).

Like Aaeiyn , S6 has a enjoyable middle section. I just think the back-end of S6 lets it down, as most in our re-watch group watching S6 earlier this year saw. But in typical Charmed fashion, the best episodes are never the season premieres or finales or start and end of the seasons.

The fun of Charmed is never a compelling thought out story with amazing arcs, its just a feel good show to enjoy and put on any random episode. In some ways it makes the show more rewatchable than most shows produced today. It does help that not every single episode connects to a never ending story.

S6 had some pretty interesting episodes. I'll say Loves a Witch and Little Monsters brought back some of the old school Charmed vibes with LAW being somewhat creepy and LM having demons who look like demons.
