First of all, I would like to say that I was working on a comment, prior to submitting this one. Unfortunately, I had accidentally clicked on another link, breaking me out of what I was already working on, and it had completely erased everything I had worked on. So, that being said, I may not be as concise, as what I had prior. Second of all, coming from
this thread, I wanted to bring that topic of conversation back to its appropriate threads.
You wondered why so many here hate S6...this is from the S6 version of this thread:
I liked it the first time through, thinking that Chris was going to murder Wyatt, and just like in 'Oh, My Goddess', maybe Bianca wanted to save Wyatt, but Chris sure didn't. Was ecstatic when Chris was killed instead.
My opinions haven't changed at all. The sisters are now the sister in my signature. Don't like any of them - hate Leo even more - just don't like this season. No, I hate it - my least-favorite season even over Season Eight, since that includes Henry and Little Wyatt.
Might have liked it a lot better had it been played by someone who could show the many sides of Chris, if indeed there were any sides outside of a murdering, self-centered brat. But when the only emotion Drew Fuller showed well was whining and sighing impatiently, no, I still think Chris died because he thought dying to save Wyatt would make his parents sorry for all the horrible things he think they had done to him like Daddy too busy saving the world to pay much attention to his poor, poor, pitiful son.
Drew Fuller never showed little signs of Chris caring or respecting his parents and aunts before they knew who he was (and a great actor could've/would've), so I was sure when he started acting like he did after they knew who he was, it was just that - an act.
I still think so.
Yes, I read all of this, and it just reiterates what I had already said, prior:
I suppose Drew Fuller Chris might've made it unbearable for those that don't like him or w/e. I suppose (around my age) it's "eye candy" enough for me LOL Otherwise, I find a lot of its episodes pretty fun to watch.
You didn't address any of the episodes nor why they suck. You just talked about hating Drew Fuller Chris, something I already said for you, that you didn't need to repeat. I already know this about you. You hate Drew Fuller Chris. I get it. Tell me something, I don't already know. Provide something else/new to the discussion that hasn't already been said, a million times. Especially, since
this thread is on full display on how much some (not all) despise, hate, loathe, etc., Drew Fuller Chris. This point has been made. I'm caught up and understand there's an anti-Drew Fuller Chris crowd, I get it. It's why I said, what I said. I'm fully aware Drew Fuller Chris makes S6 unpleasant for some (not all). However, he can be easily ignored considering the many episodes I like, from S6, don't center around nor involve him, too much:
S6E3 "Forget Me, Not" - I don't like this episode, but Drew Fuller Chris is hardly the center of attention, in this episode.
S6E5 "Love's a Witch" - Drew Fuller Chris (annoyingly) tries to be relevant, in this episode, but this episode isn't about him. This episode is about the feuding families, and how the Charmed Ones can help fix it.
S6E7 "Soul Survivor" - Both Drew Fuller Chris & Leo couldn't be any less relevant, to this episode. They're both fortunate enough to even be in this episode, at all, yet their characters are not involved in what's going on, in this episode. This story belongs to the sisters, and the sisters, only.
S6E8 "Sword and the City" - I don't like this episode, however I wanted to point out that Drew Fuller Chris, is not in this episode, at all. Unlike S6E7 "Soul Survivor", Leo is still in this episode.
S6E9 "Little Monsters" - Drew Fuller Chris tries to be the center of attention but ultimately this episode centers around the Charmed One's eliminating the Manticores and saving/rescuing the Beast and his half-manticore son.
S6E11 "Witchstock" - While, Drew Fuller Chris starts off this episode in commanding Piper (for once isn't complaining and just going out demon hunting, solo) to vanquish demons, it slowly drifts away into the Charmed Ones bonds as sisters and their family, as screwed up as the timeline was. And, Drew Fuller Chris and Leo are left behind trying to take care of the slime demon but aren't powerful enough (like the Charmed Ones) to vanquish it. This episode is about Grams, more than anything else. Yes, this episode has "Creepy Leo", but I just brush it off as terrible writing/attempting to be funny.
S6E14 "The Legend of Sleepy Halliwell" - Drew Fuller Chris is on his own, trying to "save Wyatt", meanwhile the Charmed Ones are doing their own thing in protecting Magic School. Yes, IK Magic School is another "hot topic", that I'm aware of as being something that "sucks", I get it. You don't have to tell me, twice. But, that's not the point. The point is that this episode isn't really about Drew Fuller Chris. Sure, sprinkles of it is but ultimately, it's not about him.
S6E15 "I Dream of Phoebe" - Now, this episode does involve Drew Fuller Chris more than you would probably like/anticipate, but I want to make a point. This episode has Drew Fuller Chris thinking he has an ally on his side via Phoebe and (thankfully) Phoebe put him in his place and already yelled at him, for you (in this episode), about how awful his methods really were. And, if she was going to help him, it was going to be done through her way. And, in turn, when she became a Genie, and Drew Fuller Chris tried to force his way, we saw the consequence of that. Not to mention, this episode really dumbs down men, pretty hard 'cause even Richard is made to look bad. Everytime the men tried to help, this episode made them suffer consequences for it, and only the Charmed Ones were able to fix everything/their messes.
S6E17 "Hyde School Reunion" - The very controversial episode may involve Drew Fuller Chris and trying to save/help protect him. But, ultimately, this episode is more about Phoebe, and how she grew, as a person. Something, I mentioned in
this thread and talking about Phoebe's "dark side", and how she was a little trouble-maker, herself, but she decided to change, for the better.
S6E18 "Spin City" - Is the only episode, that I like, that actually involves Drew Fuller Chris, and where Phoebe begins looking for her baby daddy. It's the last good episode, before I'm just over it.
S6E21 "Witch Wars" - I don't like this episode, but this episode hardly involves Drew Fuller Chris.
So, again, most of S6 isn't really about Drew Fuller Chris. I'm fully convinced he was introduced to be "eye candy", for my generation.
Oh, I mentioned my old signature. Here it is:
There are a lot worse things than going through the Wall of Death:
LIKE A CHARACTER LOBOTOMY, courtesy of Brad Kern!I miss our snarky Piper who cared about innocents more than herself,
our smart Paige who had graduated from college and should've been a social worker
and our sweet Phoebs who loved magic more than sex!
Did they ever miss Prue!
Me, too!
There's a lot to unpack here.
Piper - IK you consider S5E22-23 "Oh My Goddess, Pt 1 & 2" as part of S6's plot which is fine. However, I find Piper to whine, complain, nag, etc., constantly, like that's her character. And, I've (also) noticed that she's usually selective on who she saves, and who she doesn't. I don't think Piper ever cared about total random strangers. She even refused to help Mark the Ghost, at first, until she got to know him/"wouldn't leave her doorstep" (so she says). And, she was very antagonistic towards Leo about having to protect Kyle, in S2E6 "That Old Black Magic". Or, how unhappy she was to do witch stuff, on Valentine's Day in S2E13 "Animal Pragmatism. This is nothing new about her character. I do think, as the seasons went on, she was written to be the "mean comedian", when the series began becoming more comedic rather than dramatic.
Paige - You'll need to provide examples of "dumb" Paige. Otherwise, the way you word it, makes it sound like she's "dumb" for quitting her job, which I don't agree with. And, S2E3 "The Painted World" (a Burge episode) doesn't agree either 'cause Phoebe was still smart, in her own way, even though she didn't have a college degree nor a job. So, this one, you'll have to provide examples. And, like I said in
this thread regarding Kaley Cuoco's acting:
People claim that Kaley Cuoco can't act, but I watch episodes like S8E11 "Mr. & Mrs. Witch" and S8E22 "Forever Charmed", and I'm with Billie's character feeling everything that she's lost and sacrificed for the Greater Good. She lost a potential lover (J.D.), her parents, her sister, etc. And, after losing so much, she doesn't get any proper closure out of it. That's it. So, IDK, I think differently about Kaley being "not a fit" for a show like Charmed because I think she is especially during the time she came on (S8). Charmed stopped being all theatrical, dramatic, serious, etc., by the time S5 showed up. Sure, there's still some of that there but most of it was comedy and being "not so serious". So, for THAT kind of time (S5-S8), Kaley fits in well. IDK how well she'd fit in S1-S4, though, as dark and as serious as those seasons were.
S5 started taking more of a comedic route rather than a dramatic route. And being a certain route, doesn't mean you're eliminating certain aspects of themes. We went over this, in
this poll. It's just that one aspect of it you would prefer to be the more dominant over the other, that's it. And, S5 really took a different route compared to S1-S4. And, Paige was probably the one to represent the "dumb comedian". Phoebe was kind of this, in S4a. In S4E2 "Charmed Again, Pt 2", when Cole says where he hid Inspector Cortez, Phoebe's response was "in the basement?" Or, in S4E3 "Hell Hath No Fury", when Phoebe asks "who's Charles Bronson?" to Cole's "she's Charles Bronson cubed". Some (not all) of S6 Paige's quotes are meant to be goofy & silly and not taken seriously.
Phoebe - The image you used is not from S6. Unless, you count S7E2 "The Bare Witch Project" as part of S6's plot, like you do with S5E22-23, though I won't, but I digress. And, I think you're forgetting the spell Phoebe casted (with Piper) in S1E5 "Dream Sorcerer" to find a man to have "lots of safe sex" with. And, I already expressed why she began going magic light (in a different thread), and it starts with S4E22 "Witch Way, Now?". She wanted to cold turkey out anything that would get her addicted back into dark magic and/or being evil. So, a world of magic wasn't as exciting for her, as it used to be. But, she still helps, when she can. Also, it wasn't for sex. She was looking for her baby daddy. Difference. And, this wasn't the first time, she misused her power(s). Like I said, she's been personal gaining with her powers, since S1.
And, in regards to the characters missing Prue. This is 2 seasons passed her death. You really want them still crying over her death, in S6? NTY. IK in S5, Prue is still mentioned. I just don't think Prue's name needs to mentioned, constantly especially 2 seasons after her death.
Now, I'll respond to
rebooted The Season 6 storyline just wasn't well thought out and the introduction of Magic School was cringeworthy.
Which "storyline" would that be? Chris' reason for coming from the future? How would you have like to see it done?
And, in regards to Magic School (which I mentioned, already, towards Es), I understand has its issues. I wouldn't have minded it if it was a new invention, rather than breaking the continuity by being around for (at least) 20 years (according to S7E8 "Charmed Noir's" lore, but I digress).
Phoebe being powerful and then powerless was a let down.
Yeah, I'm not particularly a fan of S6E19 "Crimes & Witch Demeanors", either. I really wish S6 wasn't the only season with her empathy powers.
Clearly Paige could have been more effective helping people as a social worker, never becoming a witch, and would have grown more as a character
Well, the writing of why she began being a part of the temp agency, in the first place, was to "get away from magic" but then that got quickly retconned in S6E6 "My Three Witches" (sigh). Not really an episode I like which is why I didn't really list it, prior. I didn't mind her temp jobs. They felt way more relatable, to me, than her being a social worker.
Piper is still likeable to me in Season 6 but I don't understand the Leo thing. Are you here or not here. What's the situation?
This, I'll agree with. The whole point of the S5 finale was to explain why Leo couldn't be around, yet S6 comes and nothing's changed LOL
Next, TMC:
I think the issue I had with Season 6, is it was poorly executed. I hated, how we had to guess and pick up the pieces on just what happened in the Dark future. I really would have preferred them showing us what really went down.
I agree. Some of the more annoying episodes that I don't like could've been substituted out to expand more upon this.
I hated Magic School. And I hate a majority of the episodes. I wasn't particularly impressed with the way the sisters were portrayed.
Yes, good 'ol Magic School is the common denominator (outside of those who hate on Drew Fuller Chris) in why some (not all) think S6 "sucks", but it's not even a fraction of what's going on, in the season.
Mind listing what other episodes you don't like are?
