But that's such a shame - theme songs are so much more fun - and more easily remembered.

Yes that's right dears, no theme song at all. Television shows don't do that these days just a short 10-second title card. Only Netflix does those these days still.
But I wonder what they will do for the end credits with the instrumental music for that. Since that is all we will get with any sort of theme music, just not obviously a true opening credits theme music.
But you just know someone on Youtube will make opening credits to the original Charmed theme.

That's true, and we have to remember Network television is different than it was back in the 80s or 90s, when episodes ran a little bit longer in length. I noticed how a show in the 80s could be 47 minutes an episode, these days I find some episodes of a show are 41 or 42 minutes.
Netflix doesn't have these restrictions for runtime and why they are allowed to have an opening and closing credits that can run up to 1 and a half minutes. But most Netflix shows episodes are at least 50 minutes to an hour, probably why.
Maybe opening credits/theme are just cut for time because it would take a whole minute from away an episode.
But I am just as excited to see what music score they use for the reboot and what the style will be like and who they hire. I have no idea how Jane the Virgin is, but maybe the creators hire whoever does their score music for the reboot.

Theme songs are cut because of the rights of the song. If a show has a theme/opening credit sequence, it's because they composed a song specifically for the show/opening.

I would love to see Tatu's version of "How Soon Is Now" as the opening/closing.

I would love to see Tatu's version of "How Soon Is Now" as the opening/closing. I LOVE their version of the song. But, like most people on here I don't think this show is going to have a theme song/opening credits. But if they choose to, to give a nod to the original that would be nice. However, as much as I like "How Soon Is Now" since it was a big part of my childhood hearing it on Charmed;I never understood why they chose it to be the show's theme song. The lyrics doesn't relate to the show at all.

It wasn't even about sisters, it mentioned sons in the lyrics. It was only chosen because of The Craft and nothing else. Maybe they didn't have money to compose their own theme song with proper lyrics relating to the show. Should have said something about daughters or sisters and related to the three powers they had or the three essentials of magic that was stated in the first episode.

So I can’t remember what season it was, either season 3, 4 or 5 episode 1 where there was no opening song just the showing of the triquetra. That would be nice to do.

That started at the beginning of Season 4, for the version of Charmed Again's (my favourite episode)'s 2 part special feature. I remember in NZ, the opening episode of Season 4 way played across 2 weeks, not as a double episode special. And our version had the new opening credits while the American version had the glowing triquetra with the short music and the "ahhhahahaha" voiceover. I think they could do an opening credits in 10 seconds with some superfast music showing the 'story' or premise just like Seasons 1 - 3 (and sort of 4) did. Season 5's and 6's opening credits were crap. Season 7's were better and 8 was rubbish (apart from Holly's Season 7 clip) just like the entire season bar Vaya Cons Leos and Kill Billie Vol. 2 and elements of Paige and Henry in the last half.

As far as I know, Netflix has no commercials, but I think they do have ads that just promote other shows and movies they offer. But I only watched Netflix for one month with the free trial and never subscribed a couple years back, so I don't know if it has changed. So I can’t remember what season it was, either season 3, 4 or 5 episode 1 where there was no opening song just the showing of the triquetra. That would be nice to do. That's true they could do a short 10 second one. I remember Grimm had a 22-second opening credits sequence, the first season had a simple title 10 second one and then they added slightly longer one which just had shots of the characters and a bit about the show. Maybe the reboot can do this. But I have a feeling they won't do it, and it will be a title sequence. Does all CW shows truly have no opening credits and just 10 second short ones with the show's title? I remember someone telling me a show called Izombie had a cool opening intro, but I've never seen that show to know what they did?

Yesss!!! Season 4 episode 1. The credits just showed this glowing with a very very very short instrumental, Played with a viola or something I remember this on my DVD set. They also used this for the previously on Charmed recaps too, although they cut all these out of the DVD's I believe dear. Another thing you just reminded me dear, what will the Charmed logo be. I'm curious what the show title logo will be, assuming they don't decide to call the show something else and not Charmed, but I'm pretty sure they want it to be named Charmed still. It might look different and I'm convinced it will be obviously something more modern.

I remember her from shades of blue and wayward pines. Awesome choice. But whose now going to act as JLo’s daughter on shades of blue?

I am just tickled pink that Charmed is reemerging. If the original cast is not included at the onset, there's no reason that one or more couldn't appear in the future. The Book of Shadows originated from multiple generations of Warren daughters, I am excited to see previously unexplored aspects of the Warren line. The first season of Charmed, nobody would have envisioned babies and toddlers using witchcraft, the series had to mature. To me that's what a reboot could provide, further exploration into Warren/Halliwell history as well as whatever modern day happenings develop. We watched Prue, Piper, Phoebe, and Paige grow older and experience challenges that we could relate to: family issues, identity crisis, unfinished education paths, crappy jobs, pregnancy challenges, changing careers, jerky guys and tantalizing heartthrobs, etc.
I can't thank the creators, cast, and crew of the original Charmed enough for the wonderful show that they created. My ass never missed an episode and it's the only show I ever planned my day around, ever. It's the only show I ever bought the DVD collection and multiple memorabilia for and I will certainly consider making purchases if they become available for the reboot.
The original Charmed ran for eight years and to be honest, got me through some trying times. I hope the reboot will grant us fans of the original some aspects that are familiar: the grandfather clock, stained glass windows, the Ouija board, Tiffany lamps, the large blue potion bottle that Grams died holding, THE chandelier, or an iron tiled table set to name a few. Seeing any or all of these familiar props may just create that gotta watch it feeling and capture me again. Shannen, Holly, Alyssa, and Paige grabbed me and made me care, made my laugh and cry and I hope these new gals will be relatable to us more mature fans of the original. I hope in their efforts to grab younger viewers that they do not alienate us. I am really excited that it might just happen this time!!!!

Well, the two they chose definitely look like they could be sisters - and either Latina or just American. It will be be interesting to see if they bring in Latina culture like the did on Jane the Virgin or not. I'm glad she's not one of those ones in those audition tapes that were released. Hopefully the lines they spoke were just to test them and not ones that will actually be in the show. Also, this is the first time they've called it a "dramedy", which is what Classic Charmed was. Hopefully they concentrate on the "drama" part like Classic Charmed did in S1-4 and not the "comedy" part like S5-8.

I don't think they care at all what the fans of Classic Charmed think, they are going to make it regardless what the Classic Charmed fans think, and do it their way.
I like the casting, now I'm curious if the actress cast for the role as Macy will be much more well known. So far I don't know these two actresses at all, and I feel they need someone with star power for the role of the oldest sister, Like Shannen had on Charmed.
This might be why casting for the oldest sister is being left to last, over the other two sisters. Since the middle sister has an actress that is 33. I'm betting that the actress cast for Macy will be someone who is at least the age of 30 and above.

The actress they choose shouldn't be too old, they're supposed to be in college.
