Another issue with Charmed that bothered me (mainly due to the fact the writers didn't seem to want to delve too deep into Prue's death), was that the writers never thought to integrate the necessity of Paige AND the death of Prue into the mythology of Charmed. I mean the, "Prue died, but luckily there was a unknown fourth sister to take her place" seemed like such a tease. I've always wanted to know more.

Before the death of a sister became a stapled plot device of every season of Charmed, I often wondered if it was always intended for one of the Charmed Ones to die so that Paige can come into the fold. Yeah, I know Paige only exists because Shannen Doherty left the show, but I don't see what that has to do with the mythology of Charmed being advanced to include that a sister's death was destined so that the Charmed Ones could grow into their full potential.

Does this make any sense? I think that if there had been a "mythical" or "prophetic" reason for the necessity of the Charmed Ones' reconstitution it would have underscored why they were such a powerful force that the magical community needed to have around.

We actually use that in Charmed: Reset Reality. (All four sisters are alive - continuing from AHBL and on.) We use the fact that it was Paige's destiny to join in the Charmed Ones' coven. Like, for example, in "Awakened", when Leo wasn't supposed to heal Piper. She was meant to die, and then Paige would join in. And there are other circumstances which could have let to the same result - Paige "replacing" one of the sisters.

It would have been nice if something like that WAS mentioned. But, I guess the writers/producers did not want to dwell on the fact that they had to kill off someone because of whatever behind-the-scenes mess was caused. So they didn't talk about it. Idiots. They didn't handle things maturely.

Writers? Idiots? Come on, that's a bit harsh, don't you think? Suppose they had tackled the issue directly. What good would that have done? I'm still shocked that there is still enough bile to be expressed regarding Prue. To wit: we have the "I hate Prue" thread. And, as if that weren't enough, someone has created a new thread in order to take on the anti-Prue crew. I'm a Paige head, and I just can't see why this still impassions people six years on.

I do hope people have learned NOT to make those kind of threads. I only keep the Prue one open as an example. If you make that thread, you will annoy many fans, and they will hunt you down like Piper did in HHNF.

Hi I just signed up and I noticed that in the episode when the charmed ones finally vanquish zankou (I don't recall the name of the episode) anyways, I saw that when Phoebe gets thrown against the wall shes wearing sandals and when I paused it a second later she was wearing sneakers. I just thought that was interesting, I don't think anyone even realized.

I noticed the sandal thing too... It seems that many of the problems on the show were in post production; who knows how many times we saw someone in a scene with their hair in front of their face, cut to hair pulled behind their ear, cut back to hair in front of their face etc. By the way I'm glad to know I am not the only one watching these episodes on pause and zoom!

Remember, all series has their goofs. I did notice a lot with the hair on Paige and Phoebe. Unless they entered a Paige goes and gets her hair done and/or Phoebe uses personal gain magic to fix her hair. I just didn't like how Paige always seemed to have a new hair color. But, at least it looked slightly good.

I would say that charmed does seem like it doesnt follow on but really you have to be able to understand whats going on like when you see it for the first time then you might not understand it but if you watch it more than once then you do understand it that is what i think dont know about anyone else :-*

There are entire thread discussions on this question. Bottom line is that no one knows for sure all the reasons, but the semi confirmed story is that she was having trouble back stage with Alyssa Milano. From there, it's all speculation as to why this lead to her dismissal from the show. Only other facts known about this is that it happened over the summer while she was shooting a movie with Julian M (Cole) up in Canada and simply recieved word (telegram or message?) that she was fired.

Here's some speculation: Given that Aaron Spelling was the Executive Producer who fired SD from 90210 a couple of years earlier for (if I recall) her antics on and off the set, I suspect he is the one who made the final decision to fire SD when things were again heating up back stage. SD probably has her own vision of what happened, but someone had to make a decision as to who do we keep and who goes before things get worse. Whatever drama was taking place off camera between the two must have been somewhat real because the two don't speak to each other in public, if they happen to be in the same place, but HMC and SD are still the best of friends. It was certainly a risky move to fire a lead actor from a non-major network (WB at the time) show and replace her, changing the whole dynamic of the lead cast members, but it was done and the show went on for five more years without ever bringing "Prue" back except in name only. This last was more of a legal/economic thing because if they used her image, even in a still picture in the show, they were obligated to pay SD her salary for the episode. Of course, getting fired so publicly from a show, for the second time, I'm sure did not sit well with SD. Another fact, confirmed by Brad Kern (the show's working Exec Producer) is that they never tried to contact SD to ask her back in any form (ghost per se) and she never tried to contact them. Since this would have been easily possible for either party to reach out to the other, it's obvious (to me) that they didn't want to, which indicates there may have been bad blood between Kern and SD. Perhaps he was the one who had to be the hatchet man in firing SD or SD was pissed that he didn't try to keep her. Perhaps it was his idea to let her go. These are all things that are only known to the main cast and other key players involved.

One can speculate further, I know I have, but these are the main facts and most accepted speculations I've seen or heard about. Hope this answers your question.

I have only recently discovered charmed and my biggest problem is they have official stopped. I say BRING BACK CHARMED.
