Elise was in the show for a LONG time. I think that Brad should have told her "The Big Secret" i mean almost all of the other season veteran actors and actresses knew the secret even Jason knew about it and he was only in the show for the end of season 5 and a little of season 6. Does anyone else think Elise should have been told "The Big Secret"?

You know, I never really thought of that but that's certainly a very interesting possibility to be brought up. Elise was in fact one of my favourite supporting characters (I'm a big fan of supporting characters with small casts, it gives balance). It would have been nice to see some more interaction between Phoebe and Elise. Heck, it would have been nice to see Phoebe be forced to use her witchcraft in order to save Elise.

I love Elise. Probably because I want to be her in life. (Literally - editor of a major paper - but I want to be married and happy.)
I never thought it was necessary for her to know the secret. If you know someone for years, do you have to tell them your deep, dark secrets? Especially when that person is your boss? If it's a great friend, yes. Boyfriend/girlfriend that you're serious about, yes. But your boss? I don't think it's necessary.

Yeah, but Elise was also the editor(?) of a pretty big newspaper. Who knows what she would have done with the information.

You boss is not an important person in your life just because you have known them for years and work for them. Well at least not that kind of important. In fact Boss/employee relationships are not supposed to be real personal, and 'the big secret' is much too personal. Elise does not need to be in that part of Phoebe's life its none of her business and there is no need for her to know like say there is for Darryl. She has never been effected by Phoebe's magical life which is the only circumstance in which it may become necessary to tell. Not to mention she has the power do to damage with that information seeing as she is the editor of a newspaper and a very big one at that.

I understand what you are trying to say but dont you think she deserved to kno why Phoebe had to leave work all of a sudden all the time. As her boss that is her right to know i would think.

I repeat it was none of her business that would be getting too personal and this is her boss you are not supposed to get personal with your boss. exactly, even if she was not buying it, its none of her business. Family emergency is all she needed to know.

Yes those two had gotten "close" and Elise considered Phoebe a friend but I never thought it was necessary for her to know the secret. In addition, I felt it was refreshing that there was still one character on the show that did not know the "big secret".

I'll agree with that, but I always thought that Phoebe got away with the "family emergency" excuse a bit too often. Had Elise known the Big Secret, then it would've made more sense for her to allow Phoebe to get away with it. Also, it would've been very interesting to see Elise debate with herself whether she should use the story or not. Naturally, she wouldn't, but it would've been interesting, a bit like Andy trying to decide if he should tell his captain about the sisters.
Along the same line, I always thought that the captain (after Andy was gone) should've somehow found out the Big Secret so that the sisters could continue to help the police without getting into trouble.
I agree that it would be nice to have someone not know, but these two didn't seem to be the correct people not to know.

Very True. The "family emergency" excuse was used way too often for everyone not just by Phoebe.

I have to go vanquish a demon? That's why she had to find a way to let Elise know about her life as a witch--the same way Prue had to find a way to tell Andy or the same way Piper should've found a way to tell Dan. Easy? Of course not. But that was part of being the Charmed Ones.

No I still don't think so. Like I said before, the excuse worked fine and there was no need to tell the truth. First off, Andy and Dan were much more personal figures to Prue and Piper. They were their boyfriends, and if they wanted to take the relationship any further, they had to know what was coming. Elise was just Phoebe's boss, that's it. Being too personal is not necessary. Secondly, there's an exposure risk. Yes, it seemed like Phoebe and Elise had a great relationship. But when you are in a big business, being the editor of a very popular newspaper and money is in the making, she has all the right to publish that information. Now, do I really believe Elise would expose Phoebe's secret? I'm not sure. But in the world of business, it's certainly a risk I would not take.

Ok I am sorry, it may be a symptom of memories need to be refreshed syndrome here but I do not remember Phoebe and Elise being close? Exactly I completely agree here. This was said perfectly.

Someone considering you a close friend does not always make you their close friend.

Let's look at Elise. She's a single woman who is the editor of one of the most well-known newspapers in the country (especially after Jason came around). I don't think she has much of a life outside the paper. So, for her to consider Phoebe a close friend doesn't really mean that much. I know Phoebe doesn't have any friends either, but I think Phoebe only considers her as a boss and maybe a friend. Not that much. And it's not necessary for everyone to know the Halliwell secret.
