but do you think the writers should of made up another character (paige) or just still have prue but a different actor playing the character? Please read through the thread. It's been mentioned several times before that they CANNOT replace the character of Prue with another actress. Shannen, to this day, has rights to the character of Prue and therefore no other actress could have portrayed her legally. They had no choice after they fired her to either write a replacement character or end the show. They chose the former.

Okay. here's the real story: Prue got traded to the L.A. Dodgers in exchange for a 2nd round draft pick and $150,000
The Dodger front office says they liked her fearless nature and (based on her last appearance) her willingness to plow through walls or fences to do her job.
(The Halliwell family used that 2nd round pick to draft Paige Matthews.)

Shannen was having a feud with two people at the time she was fired - Alyssa Milano and Brad Kern.

I always felt like I missed an episode from when she died to the funeral as well. They should have had some middle show in their or at least more explanation. ..and why does Shannen not seem to get along with anybody she works with?? or at least from what I hear about her anyway.

Yes they do skip an entire sequence of events, but Prue was shown on the ground unconscious with Piper with blood coming from the back of her head. So one can assume that she suffered a fatal crack to the skull and instantly died. They just don't show Piper being healed and Leo discovering that his powers are not working on Prue. Basically they just needed a way to write Shannon out as she was discontinuing the show due according to most evidence being fired for one reason or another. So I guess they figured just get the point across and move on. Although I would have very much like to have seen those in between events as well as Victor being informed of the tragedy. In fact for those reading my fic Afterlife I am planning to write them up in either a Prologue or cut scene(I haven't decided yet). how do u know that she was fired ?

Check CharmedFaith's siggy. It shows what Holly has to say about it. It makes it VERY clear that Shannen and the others in the cast were led to believe that Shannen would be back and she was fired after the season finale was shot, fired in the most horrible of ways--via the phone while she was out of the country filming a movie. Kern didn't even have the decency to do it to her face!
Whether the reason was due to problems with Alyssa or Kern or whoever, no one knows for sure because Shannnen refuses to talk about stuff that happens on the set. And Kern? Who believes him? I sure don't. Most of what he says is a lot of spin and not much more.
I believe Holly a lot more. And in the interview clip that's part of the new Book of Shadows DVD set (I saw it on Youtube before it was removed for copyright infringement), Holly makes it VERY clear that she is bitter over how the whole thing was handled to this day.

Brad Kern had no intention in having Shannen on board for another season, hence why he produced All Hell as he did, preparing the show for her exit in a believable way. Not telling Shannen until after it aired so she couldn't refuse it being aired or worse still, walking out mid season.
Kern was thinking about himself (by firing over her the phone) and actually, as much as I hate to admit it, the show (by firing her after the finale). But that still doesn't excuse the way it all came about.

Because the episode ended with a cliffhanger and no alternate ending has ever materialized, it's also the only finale with such a open ended cliffhanger. With such an iconic episode, if there were different ending, we'd know about it by now.
The way the whole episode was written and the subtle hints in episodes such as All Hell tells us that Kern was cooking this up long before he fired Shannen.

I dont think Kern is smart enough to do all of that to secretly get rid of someone. Even in the script, they tell us that Dr. Griffif (sp) is dead and that Prue and PIper are just unconcious.

Naturally he'd put that in there...he wouldn't want Shannen (or the others, like Holly) to know that he was planning on getting rid of her.

Because if she did find out, she'd flip out and get really mad at Kern. that wouldn't be too good!

So, I have never seen actual episode where Prue dies. In the end of season three, they leave it open, but at the start of the fourth season, they are having her funeral. Did they just not show that episode, or do we just assume that she died from Jax? and how did pheobe get out from the source?? While reading through the post, I wanted to give everyone a reminder of what went down. At the end of the episode "All Hell Breaks Loose", Tempest was ordered to turn back time to save one of the Charmed Ones. If you pay attention to the Source's dialogue, he knew about the double death. He allowed only one of them to come back, for he had foreseen the death of Prue. Prue was shot by a snipper rifle, but the writters wanted to make a climatic ending. The episode ends with Pheobe, Cole, and Leo making a deal with the Source. Pheobe was to remain in the underworld in exchange for Piper's life. If you move forward to the following season, the episode "Charmed Again" filled in some of the blanks. With the help of Leo and Cole, Pheobe was able to escape from the Source. At the start of "Charmed Again", Piper is trying to summon Prue. Pheobe and Grams explained that Prue's death was a natural one; thus, they were unable to bring her back from the dead. They didn't keep Prue's death linguring, but they they left what happened after as the premise for the following season.

They killed her because she is a nasty skank BITCH!!!! She got AIDS so they had to take her off the show so she would'nt infect the rest of the cast. Sadly she dies last week!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I hate her!!I'm glad she was killed off. She is the worst actress ever. Someone should run up and junk punch her. And I hope Alyssa Milano does it. The show got better after she left. And all the Prue lovers can suck it!!!!

Hello to all,
I realize that Shannon was fired..but I had no idea it was in a rather..backdoor fashion.
I know she has a rep for attitude..but if this is the way Brad Kern did it. It comes off as not very professional.
Aaron Spelling was still alive, did he have any say in this, or did he care?
Cheers,
Topaz

One thing you also could ask is: What happened to Prue's sports car ? It has actually been bugging me for a long time. I do remember an accident that Phoebe had with it, but it was a repairable accident as i remember it.

She traded it in? Totally believable, and she could afford to.
