Phoebe really should have taken blame or at least felt guilty. If my memory serves me correctly then Phoebe does not act/feel as guilty as it would have been interesting as to see. (If she does then, someone please correct me) Piper felt the guilt and blamed someone else, but Phoebe just wanted revenge. It would have been interesting to see Phoebe deal with that burden of guilt. She was shown feeling a little guilty but it is hardly satisfying. In Hell Hath No Fury when they are fending off Piper she says: "I am the sister that abandoned you aren't I? You think its my fault Prue died..." she hardly gets it out though especially when she mentions Prue because right then Fury Piper kicks her. I don't know why Phoebe was feeling guilty. She was not mainly responsible for Prue's death. Prue is the one who is mainly to blame. Phoebe may have been guilty of leaving to find Cole. But both Prue and Piper had agreed to help send her to the Source's Realm. So even they have to assume partial blame for Phoebe's disappearance from the mortal world. But Prue was the one who had insisted upon dragging Piper out of the house to find Shax. Because of this, they and Shax ended up being exposed by the media. It was this action that set everything in motion. PRUE IS THE ONE WHO IS MAINLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HER DEATH.Why would Shannen want to show that Prue's chances of survival was nearly impossible? She had no inkling that she would be fired, when she directed "All Hell Breaks Loose". She had been fired during the summer of 2001 . . . before they had started filming Season 4.

What do you think Prue would have thought of Billie and Christy

I think Prue and Billie would have gotten along just swimming. They both had the same drive towards everything in their lives including demon hunting/slaying.
I dont think Prue would have trusted Christy at all, straight from the start she would have known something was up and wouldnt have rested untill she had all answers.

She had been fired during the summer of 2001 . . . before they had started filming Season 4. Actually that's not how filming works. They don't get the summers off to have a grand ol' time. The third season would have wrapped sometime in March and they would have begun filming DURING the summer. She didn't know she was going to be fired the way that it happened, but the odds of her returning for the 4th season were less than 50% but there was still that chance because of her contract. She wanted out and she was trying to find a way out considering she hadn't signed for season 4 yet. Not to mention, when you're the director, you can bloody yourself up as much as you like. It's your call. Shannen wasn't an idiot. Since the chance of her not coming back still hung in the air during filming, she wanted to show Prue bleeding more severely so that people would be able to draw a very reasonable conclusion as to what really happened between All Hell Breaks Loose and Charmed Again. Just because some people have to make it more complicated and are unwilling to accept it doesn't mean that's not what she was trying to get at.

Did Shannen Doherty say so in an interview? From what I had read about the incident, her eventual departure came as a surprise to everyone . . . including her. I get the feeling that many fans want to assume that Prue was dead by the time Leo had arrived . . . because they don't want to face the fact that NO ONE KNOWS the details that led to Prue's death and Piper's survival. NO ONE KNOWS. And instead of accepting this, people keep posting these messages with their "theories" and "assumptions" that they have a good idea of what really happened. When THEY DON'T KNOW.

its pretty easy to draw a conclusion from the last 30 secs of season 3 and piper and leo's conversation in season 4.

Um, couldn't you say the exact same thing about the people on the board who claim that Leo willfully neglected to heal Prue and focused all of his attention on Piper just because Piper was his wife?

However, let us not forget why time was reversed in the first place. Although the Source was trying to work a double cross on the deal, the reason time was reversed was to save Piper, who had been fatally shot by the witch wannabe. Piper then dies in the room in the ER at the hospital. Prue is one millisecond from stopping a bullet with her face when the time reversal occurs. So, although Phoebe may have felt guilty about Prue not being saved (in the second Shax attack), she did save Piper (three times, once by calling Leo, once by getting the Source (via Tempest) to reverse time, and a third time when she obviously escaped with Leo from the Underworld to get to her sisters. I think it's amazing that Piper died or was mortally wounded three times in one episode. Anyway, Phoebe also saved Prue twice in the same episode. Plus, and here's the kicker, we ALL know that Prue would have survived her third round with death had Sharon D. not been booted from the show. Ironically, some of you blaming Phoebe for Prue's death would probably also blame Alyssa M. for Sharon being kicked off the show. Real world aside, I think Phoebe did an amazing job of saving Piper's life (or being involved in the saving by calling Leo or making a deal with the Source) three times and Prue's life two out three times. Not a bad record, unless you're Prue.

I think this is a simple one to answer. It was the close of the season and they wanted to leave it with a cliffhanger ending. This has obviously and continues to be done with many shows as a means to generate interest and speculation by fans as to what might happen. Has SD not been fired I'm 100% sure they would have saved her too. Worse case, Prue and or Piper are turned into ghosts and Phoebe finds a way to bring them back. However, with SD gone and the show having to introduce a new main character, they wound up spending almost the entire fourth season integrating Paige into family.

Just because some people have to make it more complicated and are unwilling to accept it doesn't mean that's not what she was trying to get at. TOP3 makes an excellent point here. Besides leaving a typical season ending cliffhanger, perhaps SD was giving herself a means of leaving the show. Granted, although she directed the episode (her fourth during her three years with the show), she did not write the episode. So, my only monkey wrench that I would carelessly through into this theory is that you would have to show that SD actually had a hand in the writing of the ending of the episode, influencing it to possibly suit her desire to leave the show. Of course, getting such an episode to begin with, it having such an ending (or getting it changed to be the perfect out for her), and then directing it, is a lot of coincidences and "ifs" to all fall in place. If TOP3 is correct, then it may have been more than possible that SD knew her pink slip might be in the mail. Perhaps, since she hadn't signed her contract, she (and I've theorized this before) asked for such a large raise, that it helped tip the balance to fire her. The fact that it was handled so badly is another story. Again, a lot of ifs, so I make no claims here to know more than anyone else.

its pretty easy to draw a conclusion from the last 30 secs of season 3 and piper and leo's conversation in season 4. Not true at all. Although I agree with LJ that we don't really know and what might have started one way went another with SD's firing, the only person who truly knows is Brad Kern. He's the only one, with perhaps a writer or two, who knows what he had in mind for season 4, before SD was let go. However, I say "not true" above mostly because you're cherry picking the facts, and ignoring other things we see on the screen. It is not obvious at all as Piper's statement can easily be explained as the outburst/venting of a women who just lost her older sister and in a most dramatic and painful way. You have to view the entire series of events and then decide what you choose to believe. Again, interjecting the real world, only a very few people know what was the plan had SD not been fired. I would suggest we all write in to the Charmed Mag with the question (or some version of it) "Had SD not left the show (being nice and not saying fired), what was the plan for the fourth season?" Then we can get the answer from the preverbial horse's mouth.

yes she died . but i think that's becouse those film makers wanted to be. becouse when Shax attacked they could stop his attack Piper by freezing it or Prue with her telekinetic power not just waitting to blow them

Its quite obvious. Prue dies. But how many people think. Its a sticky situation, Phoebe is stuck in the underworld with Cole and Leo, and Piper is out cold next to Prue. Buy the time Leo comes to the rescue there is only enough time to heal one, because he cant heal two people at the same time unless he was the avatar he becomes in season 7. He chooses his wife, and soul mate to save. He tries to heal Prue but it was too late. When we come back in 'Charmed Again' it shows grieving Piper trying to get Prue back but it was no hope. It all unfolds itself in the episode!

Because Shannen Doherty got fired between end of season 3 to beginning of season 4 so they couldnt and they wanted to get it over with! Unfortunetly Kern let his personal life get the better of his professional life! But oh well..whats done cannot be undone
