Which Leo do you prefer and why? Which one was your least favorite one? Whitelighter Leo, Elder Leo, rogue elder Leo, Avatar Leo or Mortal Leo? Discuss... I personally love Leo anyway but I hated the development of making him an elder. It was a cheap way of separating the one stable couple in the show and after being told that elders didn't live on earth, we saw him on earth all the time, making his and Piper's separation all the more pointless. The avatar Leo, while short lived I kind of liked. It was a decision he took for his family and while in the end it didn't work out, his heart was in the right place. I really liked him as a whitelighter but sometimes felt he was underappreciated by the sisters. So I guess in the end, I like him as a whitelighter and also mortal because it was a decision made for love and something he and Piper had been wanting for a long time. The problem is the writers didn't know what to do with mortal Leo and that's what got him off our screens, which I really hated as well.

I didn't like him at all as an Elder (although he was very hot when he was a 'rogue Elder' , 'cause he wasn't with Piper anymore. I did like the drama and Holly's acting was brilliant, but I just don't like the fact they weren't together anymore. I loved it when he was a Whitelighter, he was perfect for this job. Avatar Leo was hot (as always), and I liked the fact that he was more powerful than the sisters and that he had more screentime. I loved mortal Leo too, his struggle to cope with the fact he couldn't protect his family anymore was really interesting. And the new chemistry between Piper and Leo was really good too. I hate the fact he got written out, but I blaim the WB for that, not the fact Leo was mortal. I think they could have done a lot more with this, 'cause it changed the whole relationship with his wife, sons and sisters-in-law. So if it's true what maracev2 said (that the writers didn't know what to do with mortal Leo), then they are really lame writers ('cause I can think of a couple of storylines with mortal Leo, and I'm no writer!). But as I said, I blaim the WB for Leo's departure.

I guess no one wants to discuss Unless everyone agrees with me, I can understand that

Yeah, I tried to start some sort of discussion to give some life to the thread. I pretty much agree with you but I already posted my opinion upthread. How about we talk about his parental skills towards Wyatt and Chris? Do you think he is a good father?

My favorite Leo was Whitelighter Leo. I thought the writers were able to do much more with him in that position, but then again his becoming mortal could have been the springboard for so many different plot lines. Unfortunately, we will never know how this could have been examined further because we were tortured by the focus on Billie and Christy all this season. I really liked how mortal Leo was handled in the final episodes of season 7. I thought Leo and Piper grew as a couple. However, once season 8 began, it seemed as if the new writers didn't know how to handle a character who had to use his brain to survive in a magical world. Poor Leo was more or less shown to be a babysitter (in my opinion) for most of the time. He not only took care of Wyatt and Chris, but also Billie. His character was an underated character for the last year.

How about we talk about his parental skills towards Wyatt and Chris? Do you think he is a good father? I think he's a great father (when he isn't an Elder, that is)! But I didn't like the fact he left Wyatt (and Piper of course) when he became an Elder, I'm really glad he came back, 'cause a boy needs a father. And I hated seeing Piper with someone else! He's really cute when he's with his sons, and I'm sure he will be a great uncle and teacher too! I wish he was my dad. No, I change my mind; thinking your father is hot and sexy is just disturbing. And when he would be my father, I can't daydream about him anymore

I think Leo is an excellent example of what a good father should be. I like the way he took a more laid back approach with Wyatt using his magic than Piper did. He knew that Wyatt would learn by letting him experiment with his powers and then learning from the consequences. But he was also great with supporting Piper in her style of parenting. I also thought he was wonderful at showing the boys how he loved them. I also think this showed in the children the show used. They always seemed so comfortable in his arms And KitKat, remember that Leo was more or less forced to become an Elder because of Chris saving Wyatt. He loved Wyatt so much that he still stayed around (although against the rules) until Gideon's plan made him see he was putting Piper and Wyatt in more danger by staying. He did return when he found out about Chris. I still wish they would have explored more about why Chris was so resentful of Leo. I really liked the way these two characters interacted and we could have had some great drama.

I hated that he didn't even try to fight against being an elder. It just didn't fit with either his or Piper's characters to just accept something like that and move on (although we KNOW neither of them moved on from each other). What made it even worse was that he always found a way to be around Piper and Wyatt but didn't have the guts to try to work something out so that he could be both an elder and a husband/father like he soooo obviously wanted it. He practically walked around with an I LOVE PIPER SO VERY MUCH neon sign stucked to his forehead. It was a cheap way to break appart the only solid relationship on the show and have Piper dating again, which she didn't even seem to enjoy anyway. Whenever Leo was around she too had that neon sign on her face. Anyway, even by becoming an elder he didn't stop being a good father, maybe a good husband. He stopped being a husband altogether (even he never stopped being there for Piper). The second time when he left for 6 months after his little Ooops with Piper he was lead to believe that they would be safer that way than with him around, which is retarded but in his mind he thought he was doing something better for them, again putting their needs ahead of his. It always irked me that he never considered that maybe what he wanted was what Piper wanted too and that Piper didn't need protection (she is after all the most powerful Charmed one), she needed her husband and a father for her babies. I guess he was just shown to be easily manipulated by the elders and that is one of the reasons why I hate them so much and hope they all die in the future It's also one of the reasons why I enjoy season 7 so much. He finally realized what they had been doing to him and got up the nerve to tell them to screw themselves, he was staying with his family whether they liked it or not.

You're right, oldwitch, he was forced; but he had a choice: he could choose not to become an Elder. He stated that in 'Oh my goddess part 2'. He also said he couldn't refuse the 'promotion', because they really needed him and because it has never happened before. But he choose to become an Elder because he believed this was for the best for his family and for the whole world, but maracev2 was right to say that he was mislead (first by his perception of the Elders as 'the protectors of the world' and then by Gideon). The best for his family was to stay with them, to love them, to guide them, to support them and just to be there. So I'm really glad he came back to them and stayed. And maracev2, you're right again: they should have explored the Chris-hating-Leo-thing more, it would be really interesting.

No, he didn't. He didn't think he had a choice. He told Piper that this was something that she couldn't fight and that IF he had a choice he would choose her because he always had.

Oh, I guess I remember it incorrect then. It makes sense, 'cause he has ALWAYS chosen Piper. I already thought it was strange he chose the Elders at that time.

While I agree with you Maracev that Leo should have fought against being made an Elder, I think it went to his character that he was more worried about putting the Elders back in control after all the havoc. I do think that it was out of his character to just stand by and watch Piper date other men while he just watched over Piper and Wyatt. I was always upset with that story line. I didn't think that it fit either of the two characters. I do, however, like the way their love always peeked through (Leo leaving a birthday gift, Leo saving Piper in "I Dream of Phoebe"). However, I just couldn't forgive Piper for fireman Greg. That broke my heart, and I have to say that went to highlight Leo's love for Piper because he never held that over her head (even though they were separated). That must have hurt Leo deeply, but his love for Piper and Wyatt was stronger.

He couldn't hold it over her head because HE left her and he didn't do a thing to get her back. I always say she was dating all these other men while Leo was around as a way to sort of jolt some sort of reaction out of him. As far as she was concerned, there was no chance of Leo ever coming back to her (because he never expressed any interest in giving it a shot) and she had all the right in the world to try to remake her life with someone else, if he wasn't going to be there for her as a husband.
Remember also that Piper didn't hold anything against him for leaving her once they got back together. He also left her in Once in a blue moon and what did she do? She kept on fighting for him and trying to pull him back in. They both loved each other too much to let go completely of one another and at least that's something that they kept in character during season 6. Everytime they were on screen together, you could just see that these two had NOT moved on from each other AT ALL.

Season 6 had its ups and downs, but I think Piper and Leo's relationship struggles made it interesting to me. I do agree with you, Maracev, that the one thing the writers kept in character for both of them was the love that just wouldn't be denied. While Leo's reasons for staying apart were more altruistic, I just once would have liked to have heard him say how much it hurt him to stay away from Piper and Wyatt and how it hurt to see her with other men (I mean before The Courtship of Wyatt's Father), but that he was working to make the world better and safer for her and Wyatt. I really liked the scene where they talked after their night together, but you would have thought that Leo would have checked back at least once to see if their little fling had had any consequences. What I thought was really out of character was how after Wyatt was born they began to have one problem after the other. I always thought that this was done on purpose so that Charmed wouldn't "jump the shark" like other shows once a baby is added to the equation. In this case, however, a magical baby was a plus for the show, and the addition of Chris more than offset the arrival of Wyatt.

I loved the addition of Wyatt and Chris. They were cute, and Wyatt was so powerful he caused some very interesting storylines. I loved to see more powers from Chris, though. In my opinion, Piper and Leo never really broke up. They stayed in love with each other, but they didn't know it. So Piper tried to move on, but she couldn't. Greg was like Dan: a great guy, but no match for Leo. They belong together and I'm really glad they end up together in the end.

Still you can't help but be a little jealous of Piper..... Yeah. It would be easier, though, if she was a b*tch, then you could hate her for having such a wonderful man. But Piper diserves him, 'cause she's wonderful too.
