I'm interested to see what they do here as long as they concentrate on the key thing here which is the bond between the sisters. I would like to see them build a stronger mythology, establish continuity and create a more serious tone with this reboot as I feel when the show was darker, more serious, it was at it's best. S3+4 are evidence of how strong Charmed can be and I felt how the show tackled death was particularly poignant. And these are exactly the reasons I'm interested in a reboot. Because after those two seasons, Charmed just got lighter and more ridiculous as seasons progressed. It made no attempt to even try to go back to when it was best. but to star all four sisters are ridiculous. the main theme of charmed is THE POWER OF THREE. so what is the point of the show if all four sisters showing up? 3 sisters using P03 while another sister stand there and watch them using it? certainly that sister will feel that she is neglected! i like to see 3 sisters in action, not four. that ruin the whole thing about charmed. Unless it's Power of Four, then it might be ruined. But only three out of four sisters could be the Charmed Ones and have Power of Three? That's a whole lot of interesting drama right there. And people have always wanted to see all four sisters together, looks like they just might get their wish. p.s so lets say both piper and phoebe have to choose which sister (prue/paige) in order to activate po3. dont you guys think that piper and phoebe will having a hard time which sister to choose? if choosing prue (because she is their oldest sister, not to mention prue have taken care of piper and phoebe for whole life), paige certainly will feel she is an outsider(half-sister). if choosing paige instead of prue, prue feels that is she forgotten, because she is the original power of three. The only way Paige got Prue's powers and became a Charmed One was after Prue died. So I don't see how Piper and Phoebe choosing between Prue and Paige would work when Prue is alive.

Having had time to process the idea of four sisters, I'm less put off by the idea because really at the end of the day it's just a number. Three or four makes no difference, neither does the Po3 or the Po4 because this isn't connected in anyway to the show. As long as they play this smartly, for example two sisters can't share the same power, it will be fine as long as they still stick to the shows core values: family and sisterhood.

I'll agree with that as long as all four sisters are full sisters. To have one be a half-sister and still be Charmed when all three of the full sisters are still alive makes no sense, the way it made no sense in C:RR, one of the reasons you changed it.
I've had my own chance to think about it.
I'd still prefer a TV movie with the originals, but if we get stuck with the reboot, I'm hoping that they start with the three original powers (with Paige only having a single whitelighter power, that to orb, since she wouldn't be Charmed and since she would be the daughter of a whitelighter, not a whitelighter herself, since she's still alive) and none of them ever get any more, unless one of the Charmed Ones die. They don't need any more and they're all too expensive for a TV series.
I wouldn't mind Piper's power be the ability to freeze molecules, since it was that and not freezing time, but no way I want her to get her explosion power, ever. It made her too powerful and meant she could vanquish demons without needing her sisters.
If one of the Charmed Ones dies, I'd want Paige to keep her orbing but also gets that sister's power which would work *exactly* the way it did with her half-sister, none of this whitelighter-affected crap just to make the original power "new and fresh" - translation: jump the shark.
I hope they leave Andy, Darryl, Leo, little Melinda, Dan, Jenny, Bane, Cole, Elise, the Source of All Evil, the Seer, Jason, Glenn, Wyatt, Chris, Bianca, Richard, Leslie, Brody, Drake, Zankou, Dex, Billie, Christy, Henry and Coop out of it - giving them different boyfriends, allies, enemies and kids is what would make the show different from the original - and that Prue isn't the one who dies, or if she does, she's allowed to come back as a ghost right away and appear as often as Grams did in the original. That's would make it different than the original while still staying close. I hope the producers come up with rules for their powers and for their witchcraft and time travel and make it consistent throughout the rest of it. I hope that death means something - that ghosts are only corporeal for very special reasons (like weddings or wiccanings or funerals) and that if any of the Charmed Ones die they stay dead . (Yes, Piper - I mean you!) I hope they know about their powers at the beginning, because Nicholas never existed and Patty (played by Holly Marie Combs...) and Sam (who are both part of the family - no Grams except as the Wiccan High Priestess, which the sisters knew about), and Victor is also dead - Patty didn't have her affair that produced Paige until after Victor was killed by a demon) raised them to know how to use their powers - which they had from birth and never had bound - properly. I hope that personal gain truly means "Harm none, do what ye will", so they are allowed to have fun with it without being able to harm others. I do hope that they decide to either use the motto "The wrong thing done for the right reason is still the wrong thing" (Morality Bites) or "Ends justify the means" (Hyde School Reunion) and stick to it.
I hope that because Patty is still alive, Prue didn't have to take care of her sisters or give up on her dream, etc. etc. It will make her less of a Mary Sue. I hope that Piper doesn't constantly whine about a normal life. I hope that Phoebe isn't Freebie. I hope that Paige is actually given a personality that's consistent throughout the series. And because Sam is part of the family, I hope a second whitelighter is never needed and we never see his bosses... I hope there are just as many mortals who are evil as there are demons, warlocks, etc. And, *sigh* Just because it appears that nowaday you have to have it this way in order to be popular, I would want everyone, Halliwells included, to be morally grey. Personally I would prefer the good to be good and the evil to be evil and never the twain meet, but nowaday people won't accept shows that feature such characters - being good is boring, even if that's what would get me to stop watching. *sigh*
Do those and whatever they come up with, it will be different and still much better than the original.
ETA: Almost forgot the most important one of all - that there is *ONE* Big Bad, who is as smart as the sisters and is just as morally grey as the sisters and who we do not find out *is* the Big Bad until the very last season.
ETA #2: OOOPS! OH, MY BAD!!! Forgot the truly most important one of all - that it's a series about four sisters who happen to be witches, and not four demon-hunters who happen to live in the same house or one witch who doesn't want to be a witch but wants a normal life but then ends up marrying the most unnormal guy possible - he's already dead, but who isn't happy until she turns an angel into her own little errand boy. Oh, yeah, didn't she have three sisters and didn't they have powers, too? I'd prefer Prue and Her Sisters over that.

I'd like them to take Melinda Warren and basically nothing else. Start at that point and work out the rest of the history from there. I'm making it under the assumption that the network has requested four sisters rather than three.
The series is based around four sister Melody (26), Maya (23), Meghan (21) and Mercy (18) Warren who are all descendants of Melinda Warren. They have an older brother Theodore (36) who was born when their parents were very young but unlike his sisters, he knows about the families secret.
Their mother Maggie is dead but their grandmother Martha dies in episode one, unbinding the girls powers and also brings them together in the pilot. Their powers were bound when Maggie was pregnant with Mercy because they realised they fulfil a prophecy made by Melinda Warren hundred of years ago and that the only way to protect them from harm was to bind their powers until they were old enough to battle the forces of evil that would come after them. Martha also erased any memory of magic from the girls minds but Theo at 17/18 was too old to perform such a life changing spell on.
Melody is somewhat of a free spirit, caused somewhat by her lack of trust and inability to commit after her mothers death. She has travelled the world since she was 18 and is brought back to earth with a bump when news her grandmothers death reaches her. Maya is the sensible one, a confident leader who is fiercely protective of her family. She is engaged to Sean, a police detective she met by chance a few years earlier. Not much is known about him, it appears he has no family but he seems to adore Maya. Meghan is a medical intern having successfully completed three years at medical school. Meghan is smart, resourceful but ultimately caring. Mercy has just finished college but haves little direction in life. Vulnerable and impressionable she is often off causing trouble and has a difficult relationship with Theo who she sees more as a father than a brother.
Theo will become their guide. A magical expert with no real active powers of his own. He does have incredibly low level telepathy and empathy that just makes him more aware of his surroundings and makes him a better judge of character. Like all males in the Warren line, he cannot access powerful magic as magic is stronger in women.

I'd agree with all of this except the bit about magic is stronger in women. That came from the 90's when girl power was the big thing. It no longer is, so it wouldn't be necessary. In fact, I'd love it if the fourth "sister" - the one who isn't Charmed - was actually Michael, a brother who has powers. If anything, with the way things have been going, I think one of the sisters should be openly gay, perhaps even already married to her partner.
I'd also much prefer if their mother wasn't dead but instead was part of the family and played by Holly Marie Combs (I chose her instead of Alyssa since she's busy with Mistresses, while Holly has been written out of Pretty Little Liars). Of all of my ideas, I think that's what's most important in order to make the show different than the original.
Otherwise, this is what would truly make it a "reimaging" and what I hope they decide to do.
ETA: There's just one huge problem with your reimgining, Astral. I'm not sure what they do in England, but in America, whenever a series is a reboot, they always use the same names as the original. Otherwise it would be called something besides Charmed. So you'll have to change all of your names back. *sigh* What a shame, since this would make it easier to see other actors playing these parts.

I would say the chances of it being about their kids is really slim, since they are choosing their words carefully and saying "reboot" and "re-imagining." Es, I agree with you that it better not be teenagers. Anything but that! I think that is one of the reasons "Girls" was so popular, because it was girls in their twenties, not girls in their thirties playing 17 year olds.
One thing that "Charmed" was unique for was that it didn't centre every episode around all these melodramatic situations that every other show feels obligated to insert. Yes, there was ridiculous moments in Charmed, but I think it needs to get away from portraying "current" issues, because there is already 50 shows doing that. The youngest I think they should be is the same age that the original sisters were in the beginning of Charmed.

I'll state one thing... Money. Give an actor/actress money, and they'll do it whether they 'want' to or not.

It really brings alternate Charmed to life while keeping the Charmed feel to it. Like, I always wondered- "What if Sam was still apart of it?" which that would answer and give us more Sam time without Sam being a drunk trying to rid of whitelighter status. I think if that direction is taking I may be more open to a Charmed reboot- especially if Holly is the mother. I'd actually have to watch it at that point, haha. When I notice Holly pop up in something I watch it. I also like Astral's idea except about the men being not powerful. We can see how much that changed in Charmed with Wyatt being the Twice-Blessed. I think the brother would need to be the voice of reason much like Leo was, except not a whitelighter. He wouldn't take sides and strive for balance as all are needed to work together- including him. Everyone would have their part. I'd also watch a reboot if it had nothing to do with the originals and it was simply a new magical family doing something similar in a new place also related to the Warrens. Then it would be a completely new story altogether which is what it should be. In fact, it should only be

OH! I really like what you did with the brother! I *so* hope that whitelighters are not part of the reboot. After awhile, being part whitelighter was more important than being part witch - like the Charmed Ones, whose father isn't a witch. Not having Leo and Piper as the main story of the series would definitely help it be different than the original while still having the same feel.

I've had some more chances to think on this and I'm starting to be more and more AGAINST a reunion movie. As others at other sites have pointed out, in order to do that, you'd almost have to keep it in-universe, which means you'd have to stick with all of the horrible stuff that happened in S4-8, since all of the actresses are older and couldn't play themselves at a younger age. This also means you'd get stuck with all of the kids. No, thanks. If there was a way to make it look like it's only a few years in the future, so at the very most there's only 5 kids (the two boys for Piper, Ladybug for Phoebe and the twins for Paige), that would work, but otherwise, it's just too much.
I really *do* want the re-boot. I just don't want it this soon. Give it another 5-10 years, then go for it!

Creating the brother as the voice of reason would make it so that Leo's part is filled in without him actually being there. Because instead of a love interest he's a brother. Although, I enjoy whitelighters being there but we can do away with witchlighters or perhaps have them be either one or the other but not both. Kind of like how in Avatar the Last Airbender. Bolin and Mako are brothers but neither has both Earth and Fire. One is one and the other is the other since they can each only have one element. However, how would they address healing without a whitelighter if there isn't one? This would be interesting to find out. Also, less love interest and more butt-kicking. I hated when Phoebe got obsessed with finding love.

I also thought about how since there was a long family line of the Warrens what if some of those relatives spread out to other areas outside San Fran? Maybe a new Charmed family was born from it. New show, new cast, same universe, different concepts since they could literally have their own niche. TCO have PO3. The new ones could be a foursome with all their own powers and tagline. But it could feature guest-stars of say Melinda Halliwell meeting them, perhaps some famous demons from the original show, or say have it set in Daryll's new location and have him unwillingly be sucked into magic again. There is so much that can be done by making it the same universe but adding 'what ifs' to it. I agree, a movie wouldn't be easy to pull off. I still like the idea of a next generation but then I also follow series' that have a large cast such as OUAT. Some episodes would focus on only part of the cast and not the whole thing. I disagree about S4-8. I liked S4-7 but I think 8 sucked. That's why I think an alt-universe would be better. Like your idea or Astral's since it would be all new. That's also why I think the same universe, different Charmed family in a new place could also work as well. It expands the universe to beyond San Fran.

My idea was to make Theo a whitelighter in the long run, whenever it was the right time to introduce them. Perhaps he is killed off at the end of the Season One or Two only to return the following season as a whitelighter rewarded for what he did while he was alive.
Also, just because male Warren's can't access "active" magic doesn't mean there can't be strong male witches. And ultimately, it doesn't mean there can't be active Warren males but my thinking was that males had only be born to a female witch and male human meaning that if a female witch paired with a male witch, their offspring could ultimately be an active Warren male.
I would just be more strict with the rules. No changing it to suit the story. It's why shows like Buffy and Fringe are so successful because they don't change there mind every five seconds.

Oh, I definitely agree that that's what's most important - have one person hired to do one thing and one thing only - keep the show "bible" and make sure that everything remains consistent.
But I still like our alternate ideas better with no whitelighters. I would love to see what Charmed would've been like without them. They were part of what made death mean nothing - like your idea of your guy dying but then coming back - and that's what you need in order to have drama.

Not happy about this idea cause as I have said what if the new actors do a horrible job then Charmed will be the laughing stock of TV I would never want that for Charmed. This show is the best so it deserves the best. I would love to see a movie where Paige meets Prue that would be sick! I want a show that will honour Charmed and give it the honour it deserves. This re-boot sounds like a total disaster waiting to happen I am not holding much hope at all with this new show. It will either be brilliant like the first original charmed or a crap box waiting to happen! I predict it will be a crap box and a total joke. With the way technology is today on the big screen example Thor I want a movie on Charmed using today's technology and a brilliant Charmed storyline would be totally sick. Now that I would be happy to pay for a Charmed movie one can only dream and hope ahhhhhhh.

Let's say the reboot happens what is going to happen with the Book of Shadows is it going to be the book from the original Charmed or are the producers going to create a new Book of Shadows if they do a power of 4. Or are the producers going to not have a Book of Shadows at all. I hope they have the book in the show it is part of Charmed. If they have the original book will these new witches look up like the girls did in the original show. What is the Book going to look like. What spells are going to be in the book? If they have PO4 then wouldn't they need to change the logo on the front of the book? It will be interesting to see. I will state that if this goes ahead I will watch the first show if we get it here in Australia to see what it is like you never know it may be brilliant. I hope that they do a good job with this reboot if they do it. I hope they don't take the Charmed name down if they mess it up. I don't want the Charmed name destroyed just cause the re-boot may be a mess this original show deserves the best as I have said. This show has really made my life wonderful even if I have a bad day I come home watch Charmed and I feel so good. I literally live off this show it is so strange that a TV show can have so much impact on you. If someone said to me that a TV show is literally going to save your life a year ago I would of laughed at them. I will always be loyal to Charmed for doing that even if I never met a Charmed fan. I realize I can be a fan and not depend on being friends with fans. It is the show that empowers me so much for me Charmed is like doing 100 mediation classes it has healing properties. I will always love this show. That is why I decided to buy a copy of the Book of Shadows which unfortunately will not be arriving at my house until about the 24 December this year. I can't wait to get the book cause it will be besides my ipad the best present ever. I would pay the world for this show it is a miracle in my life. Back to the reboot I think they should at least have the decency to wait until the actors are not working anymore and they have retired then do the reboot that way there will be a bigger gap in between shows. If I had worked on Charmed I would feel like it is a slap in the face. I also hope that the writers write a good script and nothing crap. I will be so upset if they make Charmed crap I care for this show.

If Charmed is rebooted with four sisters, based on who is writing the script, I can see the reboot being an incarnation of The Craft + Party of Five = Charmed 2.0. The first incarnation was sort of Charlie's Angels + Witchcraft + 7th Heaven = Charmed. With Christopher Keyser working on the pilot, I imagine him and his co-writer focusing on four orphaned sisters, where the youngest three are in their teens with the oldest sister, possibly in her early twenties, becoming their legal guardian (Much like Party of Five). They'll then happen to find out they are witches, with each sister having some personality/power connection with one of the four elements (much like The Craft). Since the Power of Three element would be gone, I think that would be the only aspect of the original series that the reboot series would adopt; sisters who happen to be witches.
If they want to avoid writing themselves into a corner if an actress ever gets fired or leaves the show, they will probably avoid the necessity of a certain number of sisters needed for them to be Charmed. All four sisters would most likely just be Charmed because either all the witches in their family are Charmed compared to witches from other families, or because the Nexus they live on makes them Charmed, regardless how many sisters are alive. Then again, they might just make use of a Power of Four... these are just my ideas as to what they could be going for with the reboot based on the history of the writers for the pilot and Charmed itself.

That's the first actual reimagining that could actually work right now. By being teenagers, even if they're named Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Paige (and if it's going to be a reboot that they're going to call it Charmed, that's what they'll do), they won't be compared to the originals as much, so you could do it right now. I myself wouldn't be interested - just not into teenaged angst - but especially on The CW, it would have a good chance of working. Here's hoping that if they're still working on it that it will be something like this.

I'd prefer to see HBO or AMC get the rights to it because right now, they're producing the best content out there and as a network, give their writers a lot more time and freedom then say The CW do.
