I'd prefer it actually being on CBS. Not HBO or it will be all about hot chicks in black leather who takes off the leather. But with the audience they'd want with the teenagers, it's much more likely to end up on The CW or SciFi or Family Channel.

I think HBO could do great! HBO has some of the most amazing writers on Television. Es, they do have nudity often, but I don't really see why that's a problem in 2013. HBO has also done amazing things for women, so I think we can all support/appreciate that.

It's probably more me being 60. But particularly if they did something like what Reality Bites was talking about, I probably wouldn't be interested anyway and I would want you guys to be able to watch and enjoy it - and I'd enjoy reading your posts about it.
Besides, I don't get HBO and wouldn't get it just for Charmed, especially a Charmed that included nude scenes.

Hey everyone! i'm new here. I can't believe I just discovered these boards.I've been a fan since the very first episode of Charmed.
I personally hope they don't screw up the reboot series. Like some have said, I wouldn't want a TV show about Piper's kids at all. That'd be way too similar to Supernatural. It's been a very long time since we've had a very female empowered show that isn't like a Twilight story about a vulnerable whiny girl like Bella Swan or Elena Gilbert. As much as I like Vampire Diaries, I hate how weak Elena is. I miss shows like Charmed and Buffy where the girls aren't afraid to fend for themselves for a change instead of leaving everything up to the men (This is coming from me as a guy too LOL). I want to see girls kick some behind while maintaining normal lives.
I LOVE the idea of a reboot about all 4 sisters. I certainly hope they keep some aspects the same such as whitelighters, darklighters, and their powers. As for the Elders, I think they should keep them a mystery and have them be non-human. I was really disappointed when they revealed the Elders having human form. They always seemed like "God" or some kind of mystical energy during the earlier seasons. Brad Kern made the Elders way too weak afterwards and easily vanquishable. There's many things that can make the new reboot great if they learn and redo the inconsistencies of the old show. Charmed has one of the most inconsistencies out of many shows.. and I mean like hundreds of pages of inconsistencies. (shakes head).
One thing that hasn't been mentioned are the sound effects. This is pretty important. Would any of you miss hearing the original sounds of their powers? Piper's has always been so unique to me. Her freezing sound makes it so much more real than shows like Heroes where time just stops without any special sound. I will REALLY miss Prue's telekinesis the most. No movies or shows use that sound.

First of all, welcome summers It's been a very long time since we've had a very female empowered show that isn't like a Twilight story about a vulnerable whiny girl like Bella Swan or Elena Gilbert. Unfortunately, Once Upon a Time is the only female-empowered show right now which isn't the things you mentioned. And sure there are others shows with the focus on all female cast like Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids and Pretty Little Liars, but they're just....well it's mostly about secrets, lies, betrayal and love triangles and squares. And as much as I enjoy the insanity and the wonderful chemistry between the actors on those shows, we need more shows like Xena, Buffy and Charmed(S1-4) And most importantly, we need a show about sisters. There are so many shows about brothers. We’ve already got two vampire brothers in Vampire Diaries, two brothers in Supernatural, two brothers in Two and a Half-Men, two brothers in Heroes, two brothers in One Tree Hill, two brothers in Prison Break. Hell even Thor and Loki brothers on Marvel movies. How many more shows and movies do we need about brothers? I’ve honestly had enough.

Astral Echo, I stand corrected. Someone at a different site pointed out to me that in the reboot of Charlie's Angels, only Charlie and John Bosley had the same names - the angels had different ones and started out as having been different things.
So your idea with the 4 M's could work after all!

Well, if it's on HBO, I wouldn't be able to, but if it was on another channel, yeah, I'll admit it, I'm sure I'd be curious enough to watch - ESPECIALLY if what I've now discovered is right and they give them different names than Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Paige. That's the main reason why I thought it's too soon. And if it was like Astral's idea but not on HBO, I'd for sure give it a chance.

I really hope they don't change the names. It'd be dumb if they did that... P3 is so iconic. They might as well name the show something else or make something entirely different unrelated if they intend on changing the character names. A reboot is supposed to be something fans are already familiar with. Just like you wouldn't reboot a movie like X-Men or Harry Potter and giving everybody different names.
Cyma, I totally agree with you. There are enough shows about brothers out there. We need more female (sisterly) oriented super hero shows.

Super hero??? Oh, please, not that! Above all, not that! They're *witches*, not superheroes! We saw them as superheroes in "Witches in Tights"....*shudder*
Having them keep the same name would be bad for them, because there would be too much comparison with the originals. Changing the names would give it a lot better chance to succeed. I very much doubt if there will be a nightclub like P3 since the main reason why it took so long for the DVDs to come out (and, no, that was *not* due to Shannen...) was because they couldn't get the rights to show those groups playing their songs. They may end up having a restaurant, but then, say like in Astral's scenario, the name would be M3 or M4.
Actually I'm hoping more and more for something similar to a combination of Astral's and Reality Bites. From what I can tell, it would have the best chance of succeeding.

Oh then I guess different names would be better... I didn't mean "super heroes" literally lol. I just meant I'd like to see a female empowered show like Charmed again. I like seeing women portrayed as independent and strong and not 1 dimensional like some TV characters today. Charmed had such a great sisterly dynamic with very interesting and dimensional characters. I loved seeing them grow up into their adult selves. There are so many young shows these days that are so juvenile... like they're all geared towards junior high schoolers. We had very mature shows that burgeoned in the 90's. Buffy and Charmed were nowhere near juvenile. More shows like that needs to return.
I didn't know that about the DVDs. How long did it take for Charmed to come out on DVD? I never paid attention to the releases at the time. I just bought them whenever they came out.

But that was a huge problem with Charmed - they *weren't* independent and they *weren't* strong. Maybe powers-wise (which is the least-important part of the show for me), but personality-wise, which is much more important.
They were at the beginning, but by Season Six, they were totally dependent on their men. I wouldn't mind them having a brother if it means letting the women stay strong and not dependent on their men, and were totally useless if they didn't have a man - it's when I started disliking all three - one of the main reasons why Season 6 is my least-favorite, even more than the addition of Chris. Having relationships, getting married, sure. But being absolutely nothing without a man? That I don't want. I do hope that there would be one who is perfectly happy not getting married and not having a kid (I truly hope there's no kids until the flash-forwards at the end, including no kids coming back from the future - if anyone does, I'd want them to not be related).
Unless they're teenagers, I'd never want anyone to talk about "the girls" - I'd want them to either talk about the sisters or the women.
I'd also want their men to be strong and not wimps like most of the men in Charmed, ESPECIALLY if there are any whitelighters who turn mortal or demons who turn mortal (and personally I hope there's none of either, with the main bad guys being warlocks, not demons) aren't wimpy men who are totally henpecked by their women. I HATED them making Mortal Cole and Mortal Leo absolute wimps!

I HATED them making Mortal Cole and Mortal Leo absolute wimps! Ok, so they weren't all independent or strong, but I loved the realness of their characteristics. Prue was very strong and prideful. She acted like how a leader should.. someone that protects the family and makes sacrifices. She was a very believable older sister. And I suppose the other characters were endearing in their own ways too. Piper really pulled off being the middle sister. I liked how her character evolved the most from upholding her ambitions of being a chef and then opening up her own business (Seasons 1-3, that is). Phoebe going through a college phase and still needing to mature a little more. These are very solid characteristics. It's very good writing when you can differentiate the characters from one another. I hope the reboot will be able to make the characters just as unique. I do not acknowledge the existence of Season 6 onward. The writing went downhill and not only that, the writers knew nothing they were talking about and forgotten histories and facts from previous seasons. I hate repeating how Paige forgotten she vanquished the source with the most powerful spell in the history of the show in Season 8. I felt like the show was overrun by male writers during the last few seasons. I don't know who all was involved in the writing department, but the sisterly bonding totally went flat after Season 5. I wish Constance and Kern could've gotten along better. Too many unfortunate changes happened to the show. It started off as a drama and became a show to laugh at, literally.. it was so embarrassing how much skin and sex appeal Alyssa Milano had to put up with to keep the ratings up. Watching Seasons 7-8 makes me cringe and my head boil.

Oh, the uniqueness of the sisters is also something I hope they keep, which is why I like RB's idea that if there's four of them that they base them and their powers on the four elements, and if there's three, that they let them be the Oldest, the Middle and the Baby, the way Prue, Piper and Phoebe were (and Piper, Phoebe and Paige never were...)
Hehehehe, I like your idea of everything past Season Five not existing. For me, it's everything past Season Three, since I count Season Four through Eight as the alternate universe spin-off, "The Perils of Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper" where the only similarity to Charmed (Season One through Three) is the names of some of the characters. This has nothing to do with Prue vs. Paige but more the inconsistencies between the latter seasons and the earlier seasons and the changes in personalities of Piper, Phoebe and Leo which can't all be explained by Prue's death.
Besides, for me, S1-3 makes the perfect trilogy - Season One, the story of Prue and her non-magical, Andy; Season Two the story of Piper and her angel, Leo; and Season Three, the story of Phoebe and her devil, Cole - Discovering Their Destiny in Season One; Living their Destiny in Season Two, and Losing their Destiny in Season Three, because being the protector of the innocent went right out the window once Prue died.

Hahah! "The Perils of Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper." That made me laugh but it's so true... Seasons 1-3 were truly flawless and perfect. I loved every moment. The one thing I liked about the first 3 seasons was how there was always 1 important history episode, flashing back to the past (or into the future). Season 1, they traveled to the past and we got to see their younger selves along with their mom and grams. That episode really made me happy. Season 2, they went to the future and Phoebe later got to re-visit her darker past and we see the cousins. That was a very interesting story line and insight into their ancestors. Season 3, 'Pre-Witched' was one of my favorite episodes. I LOVED how the writers returned to the old photograph of all 3 sisters magically coming close together after Grams had taken the picture. I just thought the writing for the first 3 seasons was sheer brilliance. The episodes and seasons were always so entwined with one another. Season 4 was when it started slipping into the darkness. They did show Paige's past but it was pretty depressing lol. I just didn't feel much of connection to her character yet. I believe that was also the last season where they used the old film camera style the first 3 seasons had. The first few seasons had that old TV look.. you know the grainy-ness? Season 5-8 was very HD with better technology and film equipment.. it lost the cinematic feel. Season 5 was very great with all the witchcraft references. They really focused on "the craft" more while Paige was learning all she could about the Book of Shadows and witchcraft. "Cat House" was amazing, even though Paige only got to see Prue's back on the motorcycle lol.

Oh, Seasons 1-3 were *ANYTHING* but flawless and perfect. My major complaint was Leo the whitelighter more interested in getting into Piper's pants than guiding the Charmed Ones.

Yeah.. I think it's an inevitable love story with Leo. He's a guardian angel who sort of became humanized and developed emotions because of Piper. Blame her if anybody for his actions. She encouraged him to break the rules. If any of us were in their shoes, most of us would probably have done the same thing. This is the same repeated actions that's taken place in every fantasy love story out there since the beginning of time. I actually liked that this happened because it was bound to anyways. How would anyone think a series regular could not fall in love with one of the beautiful main lead characters? He's pretty handsome himself and eventually fans would've wanted it lol.
Oh and to be fair, despite his distractions with Piper, he did guide and helped them. Leo can't guide them perfectly because he's a puppet of the Elders. They pull the strings, call him up, and tells him what to do... so he's not entirely at fault. He always helped them when they needed answers.

Yep and Piper and Leo's relationship was a key element of the show, it kept people watching. And they pretty much lasted for 8 years so they did something right!
