Saw this at another site: YAY! Hope it's true! Even if I hope we *do* get one, but not for another 10 years... Hopefully the interest in Charmed - but not the reboot - will help set up a Charmed reunion movie...or maybe even a next-generation spin-off, which I wouldn't watch unless they change the characters a LOT, but I know a lot of fans who would. Ugh, I'm quite disappointed now. Although I would prefer a reunion movie, but I doubt Rose would do it.

I think Rose would do it as long as it's just a single movie. It was the long commitment to the TV series that she didn't like - I think that originally she truly thought it would only be for the one season, or at the most two.
The one who might have troubles with it right now is Alyssa, since she's in Mistresses, unless they did it during her hiatus.

I can imagine she would only be contracted for Season 4 at first, then maybe they locked her into a three/four year contract at the start of five. I guess she didn't want to ruin the show and people's careers, as obvious Holly and Alyssa were happy to continue. Yeah, true about Alyssa. Is Holly still in Pretty Little Liars too? It's a good sign that Alyssa and Shannen said they would do a movie. At least they are open to the idea. I assume Holly would be too.

No, Holly is no longer part of Pretty Little Liars. She and Shannen aren't doing a movie - they're doing a reality show on GATV.
I'm pretty sure that Holly would be up for it, especially if Shannen and Brian were part of it again - in fact, from what I can tell the only main one who might not is Julian, but since he's not in Nip Tuck anymore, well, money is money....

As for why she hung on, I'm going to guess that whenever she signed her long-term contract, she didn't think it would last as long as it did. I know Alyssa and Holly signed their second one (a four-year one) after Season 4 - it's when they became so-called producers, a title Rose said she didn't want because it didn't include any power or extra money - but I'm not sure if her first one was for five years or she signed a second one later on. She didn't really start griping until Season 6 so it could be any time before then.

Ah good, Holly could be free. I know she and Shannen aren't doing and movie, I meant Alyssa and Shannen both said they'd do a Charmed movie (on Twitter), which is promising as they are the ones that didn't get on. And now that Holly is doing that reality show with Shannen, maybe she'll be on board. Rose was the only one who kind of really trashed the reboot idea, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't do a movie. I just get the impression she couldn't be bothered with Charmed. Good point about Brian, of course he'd have to be in it, and then all the 'husbands', could be a logistical nightmare actually, unless all the men go off somewhere and we just get a very small Prue return and four sister reunion, which the movie would simply HAVE to be about. I wonder if Kaley Cuoco would come back, I'm sure she'd be too busy with Big Bang Theory. In any case, it's up to the studios/producers to make it actually happen.

I thought Holly and Alyssa took the producer title to get more money, and they didn't get any more power. If not, what was the point in having it anyway? I don't get how TV contracts work, do they just sign like four/five year contracts, regardless of whether or not a new season has been ordered yet?

That's something someone else would have to answer. I don't really get them either.

This news greatly disappoints me. Charmed was always the kind of show that had a great premise but never fully lived up to its potential, so a fresh reimaging is exactly what it needed. I don't get why so many people were against the idea and kept on pushing a movie as an "alternative." Sure, a movie would include the original characters played by the original actors, including Prue, but it would also have to include most of the things most people hated--mortal!Leo, Phoebe/Coop, 8 million kids, meddling Elders, the Magical Community, and worst of all, Magic School. The show's later seasons carry a lot of baggage, and every bit of it would have to be acknowledged in a continuation movie. Plus, Charmed doesn't really have much of an audience, anymore. The fandom has been in a freefall ever since the show ended, and the reboot speculation didn't do much to stem the bleeding. Despite having ended less than a decade ago, Charmed has pretty much been forgotten among all but the most dedicated fans. It's never referenced in media outlets, its presence is almost non-existent on modern social media like Twitter and Tumblr, and by and large, the actors are still better-remembered for other roles. To most people, Shannen is still Brenda Walsh, Alyssa is still Samantha Micelli, Rose is still Courtney Shayne/Cherry Darling/Marilyn Manson's Ex, Julian is still Christian Troy, and so on. The number of people who would want to see any kind of canon continuation is just too small to matter. Cry all you want, but producers and screenwriters are in it to make money, and a movie wouldn't do that. A reboot, at least, had a chance to fix all of those problems. It had a chance to build a better, stronger mythology, and it had a chance to hook a brand-new audience. This is, no doubt, why CBS opted for one over a movie or (god forbid) spinoff, in the first place. Shame even that won't be happening, now.

I think a reboot is an awesome idea. This way they can't kill off prue because it four instead of three. I would totally see the reboot

I like the idea of a reboot, although it won't happen any time soon. Charmed was a show that always had so much potential, potential that was never exploited, for whatever stupid reason. A reboot would be the opportunity to start things over, and sort out all the problems the original show had, such as the inconsistant mythology and characterisation.

If they did a reboot, they don't have to have four sisters, a power of four and powers as part of the elements.
Why not introduce the fourth sister while keeping the original power of three intact. Maybe this fourth sister could be a child that patty had as a teen and gave up or had with a warlock. So the sisters big bad for the season is their half sister, which could be a good storyline. Pitting family against family. Maybe she's working with her birth father who reenters her life too and finds her just as she finds her sisters.

Or how about three sisters, but with a different ethnic background. That would have been a nice change. It's the 21st Century, after all.
