Lori Rom: The Original Phoebe Halliwell

I saw that when I was looking at them. I just didn't realized that. LOL!

After watching her again, I'm so glad it wasn't her that played Phoebe.

Lori did an OK job, people did just not get to know her.
The story could had been totally different if Lori had not left back then and had been Phoebe for all 8 seasons.
I'm giving Lori the benefit of the doubt, since we did get not get to know her that well.

That is true. We don't know what would of happened if it was Lori, & not Alyssa. I think us fans have Alyssa's role as Phoebe on how Lori's Phoebe would of been. They may not of had her so flirty, & all that. But the thing is, Lori just didn't seem like an younger sister Just like Charmedgurl said.

In agree with you on that point, Lori's version of her made Phoebe look much more mature than Alyssa's Phoebe was.
But that could also had been interesting to see, Phoebe "Lori" Halliwell would sure had been a big competition to Prue on that point.

I disagree. People don't always reject the unfamiliar. Often times they embrace the unfamilier. There are people who like Paige better than Prue. There are plenty of people who liked Terri better than Crissy from "Three's Company." There are a couple of soap opera characters where I like the replacement better than the original, so that theory is not true.

I like Alyssa better because she had chemistry with Shannen and Holly. She looked like their sister. She fit in better. Alyssa brought a refreshing energy and vivaciousness to the show.

Lori had no chemistry with Shannen or Holly, in my opinion.

Judged by the unaired pilot she only starred in ?
You can't judge Lori's Phoebe just by watching an unaired trial episode that only was created as a "do you want to by this show" pilot.
I know you all love Alyssa Milano as Phoebe, but you have also had an entire season of Charmed for getting to know her version of Phoebe.
Lori only had one trial pilot as Phoebe, therefor its impossible to give a real judgment of her version of Phoebe, now if she had an entire season as Phoebe, then it would be possible to give an exact judgment of her.

Well, going by the pilot only, Alyssa was way better. She delivered her lines with much more energy and feeling. She was adorable, and had great chemistry with Shannen and Holly from the first pilot episode.

Lori, however, was okay, but Alyssa is much better. So, to make it fair, judging by the pilot only, Alyssa wins. Her chemistry was waaaay better by far than Lori's.

After watching the unaired pilot in great quality I have a new respect for Lori and her portrayl of Phoebe. While I like Alyssas Phoebe better, I do like Lori's aswell. Her Phoebe was more sarcastic and knowing what buttons to push which I liked.

And she if she looked like she does today, in the Charmed pilot I think people might have been a little different towards her since she looks younger nowadays then she did back then.

I just took a quick look see on the net regarding Ms. Rom and her departure from Charmed. A number of things are mentioned but the two biggies seem to be...1). She had religious reservations about being cast as a witch...this seems unlikely as she had to know what she was getting into from the start. 2). When the pilot was made the show was not picked up yet, and by the time it was green-lighted she was off on other projects. This looks like a strong possibility as during that time period she did make a TV movie called "Saint Maybe" followed by appearances on several other shows. Sounds believable.

I watched a piece someone made featuring her against Alyssa....
I have to say that Lori looks nothing like either of the two sisters...
In my opinion, Alyssa looks more believable; and Lori just seems like a poor choice for the role- especially since she looked older than Shannen.
However, I still have to actually watch the episode.

p.s. in that episode, Lori reminds me of Temperance Brennan from Bones.

I've seen a bit of the pilot with Lori in it, and I think Alyssa was definitely better at portraying Phoebe. She made her character light hearted and fun.

I think Lori looks more like Shannen and Holly - they all look more like a family while Alyssa doesn't at all (although she looked the most like Finola Hughes), but I definitely love Alyssa's Phoebs much more than Lori's. Lori's didn't seem like the baby the way Alyssa's did - in their threesome, Holly's Piper seemed more like the baby, but you add Alyssa's Phoebe and then Shannen's Prue seemed more like the oldest and Holly's Piper seemed more like the middle. They just had a much better chemistry right off the bat. Shannen, Holly & Lori's chemistry seemed more like Holly, Alyssa & Rose's - friends, not sisters.

I wish we could've seen the way it originally was set up - Holly as Prue, Shannen as Piper and Lori as Phoebe. That would've been interesting, just to be able to compare.

But I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

Oh I didn't know that Holly and Shannen originally wanted to play each others characters, that would have been interesting to watch!

Yup, Shannen was originally slated to play Piper and she was the one who suggested her best friend to play her older sister Prue (Holly is older than Shannen...), but after doing screen tests, the producers (Connie and Brad) decided they'd do better playing each other's roles.
