Charmed Without A Choice

Piper stood next to Melinda and placed her arm around her. Leo looked at Leola while she was with little Chris.

"Are you sure she is a good babysitter?" He whispered to Chris, but big Chris was also yawning, apparently Leola used her power with both Chris. "Chris, are you alright?" Leo asked.

"I am just a little tired." He said and Phoebe looked at Leola.

"Honey, not that you're doing something wrong but..." She said and pointed at old Chris. Piper looked at the whole scene and smiled.

"It must be interesting growing up with only brothers." She said.

"Ugh, don't remind me, but still, it wasn't so bad, we had a lot of fun the four of us, especially when the Elders came to visit" she grinned slowly, remembering the tricks they would play in the old stuff pots in white.


"Ugh! The one time I control my power and it doesn't even work the way I want it to!" sighed Leola and she bent down to Chris's level. "Okay Little guy, time to stop day dreaming, open your eyes" she said softly and a pink glow filled little Chris's body and his eyes fluttered open.


"Guess her powers are influenced from her cupid half" smiled Paige, remembering the whole 'Uncle Coop' thing Wyatt spilled by accident when he had been here last.

Old Chris looked around, he yawned and looked at his cousin.

"Next time, limit yourself to use your power in demons." He said not in an angry tone of voice but very aloud, but still sounded calm. Piper looked at Melinda, if Jake grew up with her then they were going to save him. She looked at Jake, "he must feel like an outsider" she thought. She looked at her daughter.

"You should go and talk to your brother, he must feel like an outsider now." She said, Leo approached them.

"Go, he won't bite." He said and smiled at her. Phoebe watched Chris as he stretched himself. She looked at Leola.

"You'll get the hang of your power, don't worry." She said to her.

Melinda smiled slowly. "You read my mind, besides, if I know Jake he won't openly express his sadness, he always bottles it in" she smiled sadly and walked over to Jake and smiled as she sat down. "Hey, you feeling alright?" she asked and Jake blinked and looked at her and smiled. "Yeah, fine, just a bit out of it" he lied.


Just like Melinda suspected, he had bottled his sadness.


Leola stuck her tongue at Chris. "Oh come on don't even try to sound mad, you know you love me really! Besides, I don't think your parents wouldn't name me after your dad if I was not fabolous!" she grinned playfully and Prue raised an eyebrow in amusement, now there was a thought, Leola was the female version of Leo, she had not even realized that.


"I know I will, besides, you were a really good teacher, espcially with the empath thing, you have NO idea how hard it was at school with every students hormones swinging around" stated Leola to Phoebe.

Chris looked at her.

"Yeah, you're right! I couldn't be mad at you for more than 2 minutes." Chris said and smiled at her. "You got a really stubborn girl." He said to Phoebe.

"Yep, but I am proud of her." She said and smiled.

Piper and Leo looked at Melinda and Jake.

"Do you think she'll be able to get something out of him?" He asked.

"She will, he'll trust her just the way he trusted Chris. She's his twin." She asnwered, confident on what she just said.

Leola grinned and did a very Phoebe like dramatic pose. "Everybody loves me, I am just that loveable!" she grinned but it froze when she saw the clock and she coughed uncomfortably and looked at Melinda.


"It's two o'clock..can I have the..." she trailed off and Melinda stared at the clock and quickly pulled from her beg a small white box and Leola weakly smiled and took it and quickly walked out of the attic and closed the door.


"Uh, okay, what was that about?" asked Prue and Melinda laughed nervously.


"What was what about?" asked Melinda and Jake raised an eyebrow, great, something else was up.

Piper looked at Phoebe, whose eyes were still focussed on the spot she last saw her daughter.

"What was that?" Phoebe asked Melinda. "She's my daughter, I deserve to know." She said and Chris looked at her.

"They can't altere the future, Aunt Phoebe." He said and looked at his sister.

"She's my daughter, Chris." Phoebe said, she had never sounded more serious and she left the attic and followed her daughter.

"Phoebe!" Piper said and started to follow her.

Melinda eyes widened and she dashed for the attic door and stood quickly in front of it, looking Phoebe in the eye and she placed her hands in front of her.


"Aunt Phoebe, wait, please, let me explain" she said slowly and Prue quickly took Phoebe's hand and guided her to the couch knowing it be best to let Melinda to explain then cause a scene.


"When Leola was born...well about year after she was born, You and Uncle Coop realized she wasn't responding to things like normal babies and so you took her to the doctors where she was declared as mentally handicapped, Leola's brain ahd serious damange to it and...well, they did not think she would ever learn to speak...or write, she five years old when she learnt her first word...but the doctors didn't think she could ever learn to catch up to the other children, but Leola still knew she was different from the other children, she had special teachers and when she was young, not a lot of kids liked to talk to her...but, Leola was always determined and stubborn and she fought really hard and she learnt how to write and speak properly when was twelve and she began to catch up to the others...but, she still knew she was different and, she started to form manic depression from the whole thing...so she takes these pills now to calm herself and to keep her depression down, she may seem perky and happy but Leola has little to no self confidence deep down.." said Melinda slowly, tears in her eyes.


Paige and Prue both had tears in their eyes, that poor girl, she had fought so hard and long, she was definetly Phoebe's daughter to be so stubborn and defy doctors, but no girl should have to have such a sad childhood...

Piper'e eyes were filled with tears, she felt guilty somehow, her daughter was there and she was healthy and Phoebe's who was always one of the most pure and good souls ever wasn't. She looked at her sister, whose eyes were widened and filled with tears.

"But, I can prevent that." She said to Melinda. "Right?" She said looking to Melinda and Chris back and forth. Chris looked at her.

"I don't know really." He said and looked at Phoebe. "I'm sorry." He said.

"It's not your fault." Phoebe said. Piper looked at little Wyatt and little Chris, then at old Chris and Melinda and then at Jake. Leo looked at Phoebe.

"Leola seems like a great girl, Phoebe. You did a good job." Leo said, that was all he could think of saying.

Melinda lowered her eyes. "I don't know, we don't know if it was because of a demon attack or if it was just one of those things, but either way she is a great girl, she's the best at soccer in her new school, she puts the boys to shame" she smiled and laughed softly, though a few tears ran down her face.


Prue swallowed the lump in her throat and closed her eyes, god, just...god, it was just awful, it was inspiring to see how strong Leola was but still, she went through all that just to be normal, to have a shot at a normal life, the poor thing.


Jake was slightly pale from the explination, he had known Leola as long as the rest of the Halliwells except Chris and Melinda and yet he felt just as upset even if he did not show it visibly, it was just...god..

Piper went towards Phoebe and hugged her with all her love.

"Everything's gonna be alright. She is a fighter." Piper whispered to Phoebe as tears ran down their faces. Leo watched the whole scene, he then went and stood next to Chris.

"It's sad the thing abut Leola, right?" He said, he had not spoken to his son since the incident.

"Yeah, but she's really brave. She has a lot of courage." He said and kept looking at his mother and aunt, he then looked at Jake. "Jake is also a fighter, all that he's been through." He said and looked at Leo.

"Yes, you Halliwells are fighters by nature." Leo said and looked at Chris. "All of you."

Prue and Paige slowly followed suit and soon all four sisters were hugging each other, comforting Phoebe, it must be hard to take, to know your daughter had to go through so much, it just wasn't right, especially after they had all been through but they knew, even if they did not want admit it, that everything happens for a reason, even this.

Melinda closed her eyes and leaned on Jakes shoulder. Jake felt a sudden strange and tense feeling in his stomach, unsure what to do but he simply hugged her slowly in comfort, knowing it must be hard for her and she needed a person to lean on.


The attic door opened and Leola walked back in, blinking curiously as she looked around at all the sad faces. "Woah, what did I miss in five minutes, another future member say goodbye?" she grinned.

Phoebe looked at Leola, let go of her sisters and went towards her daughter. She hugged her, for her she and Leola were the only 2 persons in the world. Leo looked at this whole scene and felt really bad for Phoebe, all of his kids were healthy and safe. It just didn't sound fair. He looked at Chris and then at little Wyatt and then at Melinda and Jake. He then tapped Chris on the back, Chris just smiled and looked at his dad.

"You're a great brother, you know? Not a lot of people would go to the past to save 2 of their siblings." He said, Chris couldn't believe what he just heard. His father telling him that he was proud of him, at least one thing was going to change in the future.

Leola blinked in suprise as she felt her mother wrap her arms around her and she slowly hugged her back, a look of confusion and curiosity in her choclate brown eyes, her gaze turning to Melinda as if to get some kind of answer from her, but Melinda just smiled slightly and lowered her gaze, not sure if Leola would like her secret being spilled to her family, after all, she was not even born yet.


Jake had been too far to hear Leo's words, but he saw Chris expression and figured Leo had something that had meant a lot to Chris, so it was good to see the two were patching things up.


Melinda smiled softly at Leo's words and returned her gaze to Leola and Phoebe who were still hugging.


Leola slowly pulled away and looked around the room curiously and she felt a tingle in her stomach and her curious look turned to a dazed one. "Wow, could you guys be feeling any more upset, it's like a funeral in here" she stated with a slight joke but still wanted to know what had got everyone down.

Phoebe looked at Leola and smiled at her.

"You're right, honey. We need to cheer up." She said and gently placed her hand on Leola's cheek. She turned and looked at everyone. Piper looked at her sister and smiled, she had always known that Phoebe was going to be a great mother. There was an awkard silence for a while. Piper was still looking at her sister when she suddenly felt a punch in her stomach and she saw a demon attacking Melinda and Jake.

"OMG!" Piper yelled once she finished seeing the scene.

"What?" Chris said, now starting to freak out. Piper turned to look at Melinda and Jake.

"I just got a premonition." She said, not having any idea how everyone would take it.

"What?" Phoebe asked. "But that is not your power." She said.

"I know." Piper said, either Melinda or Jake apparently had the premonition power. "But you're not going to believe what I saw."

Leola smiled softly but was still confused and was about to ask a quetsion when they both saw Piper in shock and Leola looked at Melinda who rose to her feet and walked quickly to her mother.


"I guess little me wanted to warn you about something, what did you see?" asked Melinda, she had feared this day would come, she was just hoping it would have waited until Jake could learn the truth and Chris, but if the demon had followed her, then it looked like she would have no choice...


Prue helped Piper to sit down on the coach and she looked at Leo and then at Phoebe. "Whatever it was it did not look like a family picnic.."

Piper looked at Melinda.

"You have the premonition power?" She asked, a little bit shocked.

"What did you see,mom?" Chris asked.

"A demon, that was attacking Melinda and Jake." she answered. "I couldn't get a whole of the demon, but there was something about it." She said, she felt like she had seen it before.

"So, the demon was attacking Melinda and Jake?" Leo asked, his protective side was just showing. "But, how would a demon know that Melinda is here?" He asked and looked at his daughter.

"Hmm...yeah, must have sensed her, or maybe he is from the future" stated Leola quickly, clearly trying not to look suspisous as she grinned nervously and Melinda smiled just as nervously and Paige gave a suspisous look, could they look anymore guility?


"Are you sure you two don't know anything?" asked Paige and Melinda and Leola opened their mouths to speak and they looked at each other before looking back at them and Paige sighed.

"Never mind, so did this demon look familar Piper?" asked Paige.


Jake did not like the sound of a demon coming after him or Melinda, and how did they know him anyway??? He closed his eyes and tried to focus but his mind was a mess, god what kind of world had he been thrown into?

Piper looked at Paige.

"There was something about it that sounded familiar, but I didn't got a look of his face." She said and looked at Melinda. "Honey, if you know anything about the demon, you need to tell me. I won't let anything happen to you or Jake." She said and looked at Jake and smiled.

"But, what if the demon attacks before we figure out who he is?" Phoebe asked.

"Then I'd better go and cook some potions." Chris said. "Want to help me?" He asked Jake.

"Yeah, that's a good idea, Chris." Piper said and looked at Melinda. "Now you, young lady, you have some explaining to do."

Jake blinked in suprise at Pipers determined tone to protect him and he smiled softly in response and looked at Chris. "Wait you guys make potions? You wouldn't happen to have broomsticks too" he asked and Prue gave an amused look.


"Don't push it." she stated and watched the two leave and Leola tip toed towards the attic door.

"Oh no young lady, you have to explain as well" stated Prue causing Leola to pout and sigh. Melinda looked at them all and sighed and looked away. "I can't say much if I do the world could be screwed, fall into darkness, you know, the usual crap" she sighed and Leola nodded. "All you need to know is that Melinda and Jakes death would mean a lot more then you think.."
