It’s Been a Long, Long, Long, Long Season (parts 1&2)Only kidding with the title... mostly. As much as I’ve criticized, I must admit, with the exception of maybe a handful of truly horrendous episodes, I have actually enjoyed this watch through and posting about it. So without further ado; onto the two parter.
So we’re sending Chris back to his time and Gideon wants to send him and Leo to Bizzaro World. I must admit, if Gideon wanted Chris out of the way, I’ve never been sure why he wouldn’t be happy for them to succeed in sending him back... but hey ho. Season finale, feeling generous.
We meet the woman who’s been shacked up in old neighbour Dan’s house, Mrs. Noble. I know I’m supposed to be against her; the eeeevil neighbour making poor, poor Phoebe’s life so much harder... but I’m totally with her. If that b!tch blocked me in all week, I’d be playing amateur mechanic!
Phoebe is avoiding Chris. Yes, you heard me, Phoebe avoiding someone. I know, doesn’t sound like her does it?
Sheila: This is getting to be a habit isn’t it? Me showing up a wreck.Actually Sheila I’m fairly sure you shouldn’t remember that, but hey ho, finale.
Sheila: I went to his work the other day just to say hi and I saw an arrest warrant on his desk, for Chris.
Phoebe: Chris? Are-are you sure?Erm well yeah, why so surprised? You know you can’t just decide that you’re not arrested anymore, right?
So Sheila asks Phoebe what happened with Darryl and Phoebe completely pussyfoots around it. “He got scared trying to cover for us.” Oh yeah Phoebe, that accurately sums it up. Way to completely minimize what he went through! Nothing like a death sentence to make you a little freakin' anxious!
Gideon successfully makes Leo and Chris believe that the potion fails, despite it all being on the floor without a drop on the wall... but these two are massive dingbats, so of course that’s neither here nor there.
I actually find Bizarro Gideon to be even more tedious than regular Gideon... or it might just be having two Gideon’s in one scene.
Darryl tells Phoebe and Paige to stick it. This scene could have been so much greater if he’d given them hell about stealing his soul at the start of this season. Then the writers could’ve pretended like they’d planned it; having Darryl gradually reach his limit with their BS over the season.
Phoebe: There’s a warrant out for Chris’s arrest.
Leo: What?Okay again, HE JUST LEFT PRISON OF HIS OWN ACCORD! Why are you guys surprised by this? You really are used to the world bending to your every whim aren’t you?
Piper and Chris’ hug goodbye does get to me a bit; mostly knowing this is the last she’ll see of him. Well... until
Forever Charmed screws it up, but let’s not go there.
Piper/Phoebe/Paige: In this place and in this hour, we call upon the ancient power, open the door through time and space. Create a path to another place.Another place? Guys, could you possibly be LESS specific? You’re honestly surprised that this ended up going wrong?
Woohoo, here we go. Bizarro Leo and Chris. Oh where to start? Well Chris just needs a haircut and a shower really... but Leo? The hair spikes and that face fuzz, pahahaha! Oh it’s beautiful hehe.
Phoebe: I don’t understand. If they’re just like our Leo and Chris, then why do we need a crystal cage to trap them?Evil versions you moron. Should Gideon have prepared a PowerPoint with some colourful illustrations for you?
Bizarro Chris and Leo beat up Darryl. Youch, he looks beaten badly. I can just hear the writers now: “Yeah, Darryl totally deserves this for not helping the sisters. Karma!” Well screw you, imaginary writers in my head!
Phoebe: Well, I don’t think that helped our cause any. Here’s a CRAZY idea Phoebe. Maybe if you actually approached Darryl because you care about him. Not because he can get Chris out of jail, not because Bizarro Chris and Leo are where he is, but because he’s your friend and you actually give a sh!t. Hm? But of course that won’t happen will it?
Bizarro Gideon (to Gideon): I like the way you think.Shut up Bizarro Gideon. That’s one thing I hate about double episodes, the terrible “we’re the same” jokes.
"Two worlds that mirror each other when they're in balance. And they no longer are."Pervy Bizarro Gideon makes squishy booby hand gestures at Phoebe and Paige as he talks and they look grossed out. Hahaha. Okay, I’m actually enjoying Bizarro Gideon more now.
So Charmed’s Bizarro World is basically my home town. I like how amongst all the dirt and grime, the Manor is perfectly preserved heh.
“Ask Phoebe. Read me…or else.”Is that not her tagline anyway? Kinda fitting since you get her advice whether you like it or not.
P3 is a strip club.
Bizarro Darryl: Last time I saw them was at the police station. Me and my boys were trying to give Chris what he deserved. But Leo orbed him away. I’ve never seen him run from a fight before.Aww see now I’d rather have seen that scene than Darryl getting beat up. That could have been pretty cool seeing how corrupt Bizarro World is.
Barbas, the demon of hope. Wouldn’t he be the demon of courage if we’re playing the opposite game? Never mind, Billy Drago entertains me far too much because he manages to be even weirder as a good guy ha. The way he raises his arms and chirpily announces: “hope springs eternal” always gets me.
I actually like Phoebe’s Mohawk, call me crazy...
The different versions of Phoebe and Paige fight. Paige’s battle is pretty cool. Phoebe’s is just a little too awkward...which I know is kinda the point, but meh.
Gideon finally gets to Wyatt and Wyatt gets all stabby again. It’s actually kinda funny seeing Giddy knifed by the baby hehe.
Phoebe: No, but we do have…
Evil Phoebe: The Power of Four.No you don’t. Two sisters and their doubles don’t make “the power of” anything, alright?
When Phoebe is shot, Paige calls for someone about 5 times too many... it’s like Rose is awkwardly repeating the line like “okay... are the credits rolling yet?”
End of part 1 and I have a sudden thought: imagine if season 6 had ended there. If instead of A Call to Arms, season 7 opened in Creepy-Happyville. Maybe they would’ve been in this horrible, freakish world for months before 7x1, still trying to work out how to fix the cosmic damage. But then I guess the issue of Gideon would be unresolved, but anyway, just a thought. Just that I’d like to know more about how this sinister reality works. Anyway, I’m rambling, onto part 2.
Phoebe: Wait, so are you saying because of what he did, our world is bad now, too?
Leo: No, on the contrary. It's good. Too good. Where every little infraction is a capital offense and everyone just accepts it. No Leo, it is bad. Murdering and/or mutilating someone for where they park their car and stuff is not too good. It’s freakin’ bad!
Don’t blame Leo for losing faith in the Elders, I mean if they can’t even commit to a robe, what’s the point?
Hospitals have basically become amputation centers for rule breakers. Chilling.
Phoebe: The Power of Four has worked before.Stop calling it that!
Piper casts a spell to make Phoebe and Paige really stoned.
Heh, happy Paige and Phoebe are cool with Chris being arrested. Not sure why when Chris knocks Darryl on his arse, Darryl doesn’t kick the door down and start shooting; given this world’s way of dealing with rule breakers.
I do enjoy how Barbas mocks Giddy constantly.
Illusion of Evil Wyatt. At least Wes doesn’t seem to be doing the weird half-English accent this time round. Also Excalibur, because that’s still a thing.
Chris gets stabbed. He really should have orbed, but I’ve noticed he suffers from the same ‘power forgetting’ affliction as his youngest aunt.
Barbas tries to kill Wyatt and he orbs out.
Barbas (big grin on face): Slippery li’l devil isn’t he? Haha, Barbas is fun this episode.
GAH, never noticed all the SQUAT team guys holding Paige at gun point have huge grins on their faces. Creepy!
Leo and Bizarro Leo find each other in the mirrors and give each other a shocked onceover. Haha, can just imagine what they’re thinking.
Leo: “That hair!”
B.Leo: “That plaid!”Chris’ death is a sad scene, though the thing that always gets me the most is Paige blubbering in the background. Rose was very convincing.
Leo suddenly has lightning bolts, because Elders are pacifists ya know? To be fair, Gideon did actually use this power earlier, but I have to wonder why he doesn’t put up more of a fight in that case.
Yay, Gideon stabbed... again. Now Leo has super-strength too apparently. He’s doing very well this episode.
Wow Leo really fries Gideon huh? I like that this isn’t all A-okay and it carries into next season. I mean compare that to Rick Gittridge.
Piper looks freakin’ great considering she just had a C-section and nearly hemorrhaged to death. Anyway, baby Chris is born, hospital doors close and that’s the end of season 6.
Well there ya have it folks. I'm going to take a few days off, so I'll probably start on season 7 next week.
