Uh, Sol, that's what a parallel universe is, a reality where history took a different path than it did in Reality Prime. All the examples I've cited in my post have supported that position.
Yes, aside from my Rex and Hannah Chronicles story, World Of Darkness, all the examples I mentioned came from other shows, but they do tie into what this thread is supposed to be about, multiverses.
This is a totally different thing. They ceased to exist once the change in time is fixed.
A parallel universe exists totally independent of what happens in Reality Prime. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about here, I've been a Science Fiction fan probably longer than you've been alive, Sol.
Perhaps the OP should retitle this thread "Different timelines in Charmed", because that seems to be the focus here, not parallel universes.

Tim, I told you that I was raised by a Trekker! if it wasn't too expensive to bring family and friends in Vegas, my mother'ld get married on the bridge deck of the Enterprise with the science officer's uniform! So alternative history - we call it ucronic reality- is charming but we didn't see in Charmed, ucronic story 'ld be born if Phoebe didn't find the Book of Shadowes and the Charmed Ones didn't exist But I'll never buy the idea of the erasure of what is:nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed Tempus had the power to erase the time, only Tempus: the hands of the clock run back and time keeps happening When Leo understood what was happening, he kicked off a new reality, where he was mad at the Elders, obsessed by Barbas, available to be fooled by the Avatars The previous reality, in which Leo recovered Wyatt in Underworld without understanding what had happened and honored his role of Elder, without any contact with the Avatars, it'll continue to be In that reality Chris came back, wounded, in his mother's bed at Halliwell Memorian Museum Poor guy!

Maybe in the new future Wyatt wont' be evil but this new future has a good amount of troblue that in the original timeline perhaps never existed Leo and the sisters never knew who was after Wyatt, sisters' relationship with the Elders didn't go wrong too much. above all, Leo didn't freak out at them Without Leo's bewilderment, it's impossible to think that the Avatars have tried to contact him as they did with Cole: no Avatars so no Kyle - a good thing- and no Zankou - a bad thing

Sol, Erikamarie, I know that English is not your first language, but I really have no idea what you two are talking about here.

I'm confused here. If we're talking about multiverse, I'm clearly thinking about "Sliders" but with Charmed we mainly had different timelines which changed through one event only. And this was done by the sisters or a relative of them.

Well the only demon who may have done something like this if he did that is although it was fuelled by the sisters desires was Gith season 6 though I'm not sure if that's true or whatever.
Cole said he could shimmer to other plains of existence which I don't know if could constitute as a multi verse or something.
And Prue could've done that future wise via her astral projection had she been alive who knows.
Then the Bo Light Feather incident finally which was caught up in a time loop could that be considered multi verse also? Hmm

We're on the same page here, Jana. When I think "multiverse", I go to what was shown on Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Sliders too.

Sol, Erikamarie, I know that English is not your first language, but I really have no idea what you two are talking about here. I'll try to clarify what I think, but maybe you'ldn't understand even if I wrote in German, alternate timelines are always confuding I agree with Sol: only Tempus is able to reset the time and even for Tempus is a complex thing, as it was told in All Hell Breaks Loose: Cole: I may have a solution. Tempus's power. The Source: And still weakened from when he last turned back time. Doing so again will destroy him. Tempus rewinds the time up to before the action, so that time never was: only one time In Charmed there are different timelines, or alternate timeline originated by the alteration of one or more events in the past I call the timeline of Morality Bites Reality One_ Recapping: Prue doesn't go beyond the grief for Andy's death, she drifts apart from magic and her sisters and turns into a loner careerist Prue is shocked by the vision of her future, she realizes how essential is their link for magic and for her and her sisters's life:this awareness changes the whole timeline, because the bond between the sisters gets stronger and therefore the Power of Three grows What happened during All Hell Breaks Loose doesn't count because of Tempus who resets the day Reality Two: maybe we'ld talk of it in a different thread but there is also an alternate timeline in which Phoebe didn't marry Cole, Cole became the Source and the Charmed Ones had to vanquish him It was only touched on but it took place Reality Three; Chris's timeline and I was talking of it Chris never knew who was after Wyatt so he naïvely believed he was a powerful demon: he didn't know because no one knew, nor Leo or the sisters, about what had happened The new timeline starts when Leo and the sisters find out about Gideon's treason and Leo has to witness helplessly Chris's death: this is a new event compared to the original timeline, that creates a new reality In this new timeline, Leo was torn apart by the distress for his sons's safety and the bitter disappointment caused by the Elders and the Avatars had often an eye for desperate magic being But if it had not been totally nutcase, Leo would never listen to the Avatars This is the reason because I think that in Chris timeline Leo didn't become an Avatar, the Charmed Ones never changed the world or met Zankou In that timeline, which is still existing, they'll be killed in 2018

I'm afraid that's wrong. The Avatars can do it too, we see that in early S7?
As for the Evil Wyatt future, that's gone, it never happened.

So you don't believe in the existence of different coexisting timelines but in an only single, alterable timeline

So would Bo Lightfeather's time-loop be considered an alternate reality (much like the sisters' desire worlds from 'My Three Witches')?

No, I believe in alternate time lines. However, I believe that those time lines cease to exist when whatever event that created them is undone.

So it'ld happen that this morning I took my girls to the kindergarten but, if in the meantime someone changed the timeline, at five I'm going to get a cocktail with my friends no longer aware of the past existance of my daughters? It's unrealistic that there can be a linear time that is continuously switched and destroyed by various changes Even in quantum physics, where the scientists are reflecting on the possible existence of these parallel universes, the mathematical anomalies indicate the presence of a set of universes coexisting For those who want to get bored on the scientific basis of the parallel universes,I point out this link journals.aps.org/prx/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevX.4.041013

You told that you " believe that those time lines cease to exist when whatever event that created them is undone." The theory of universes coexisting is a scientific theory but we may drop it, following your thinking, this linear time could midify every time a change is assimilated So if, because of the butterfly effect of a change in the past, my husband and I were not any more able to go on holiday in Crete where we conceived the twins, it'ld happen that in the morning I take the girls to kindergarten, then someone switchs something, my last four years are erased so in the afternoon I'ld to to get a drink with my friends, unmindful of being a mom It doesn't make sense

Go watch the first two seasons of Sliders. They used this concept really well.

I don't know Sliders, after all I don't spend so much time watching tv
But I read a lot and I remember a nice book of Robert Sheckley, Dimension of Miracles, an amusing story of parallel universes, I recommend the reading
Hawkins himself believes that there are nodes from which parallel realities start
It's a good news, every fanfic writer can pick up a timeline from Charmed and write following the favorite Charmed reality

But aren't multiverses and different timelines the same thing? I've watched a few episodes of Sliders. Don't they travel to alternate timelines where America lost a certain war, or one of the characters died, etc... A parallel universe would technically count as a different timeline if the same people exist in it but just certain things about their history have changed. Am I missing something here?

Science Fiction tends to mesh the two together.
Sliders seemed to lean towards the idea of parallel universes existing side by side, but totally independent of each other. While nearly identical, things are different than in Reality Prime. One reality has the Russians winning the Cold War and taking over North American, another has the Americans losing their Revolution, etc.
An alternate time line, on the other hand, is, IMO, created when someone travels back in time and changes the past, such as helping Germany win World War II. That new time line branches off from Reality Prime and remains in existence until someone else goes back and undoes the change in time. Said time line is then itself wiped out.
That is why the Piper from the future where Phoebe and Paige died disappeared when she prevented Phoebe from saving Miles. Her time line was wiped out, therefore she was wiped out along with it. Ditto for the Season Six Chris. His future ceased to exist, and so did he.
The closest Charmed got to a parallel universe is the mirror world in It's A Bad, Bad, World. My Rex and Hannah story, World Of Darkness, also embraced this concept as I sent R&H into a world where the U.S. is a Fascist dictatorship.
Since this is all theory, there really is no "correct" answer.

Basically various universes within the multiverse are also called "parallel universes" or "alternate universes". So I would think Charmed does.
