Hard to pick just one of the last four, so I went with "Still Charmed and Kicking" by default because it was opening a season that should've never existed in the first place. (And, ruining the ending of one of the show's best finales, IMO.)
Seriously, though, all of the Season 5-8 premieres were complete trash. Why did the show drop the ball so much on season openers after Season 4?

I wonder if we should do a best/worst Mid-Season episode as well. E.g. Wicca Envy, Charmed and Dangeorous That sounds good mrmilano. Yes lets do that one, It's *probably* not a common one.
So that would be Wicca Envy, Awakened, Sleuthing with the Enemy, Charmed and Dangerous, Centennial Charmed, Chris-Crossed, Charmageddon, Vaya Con Leos.
It makes more sense to do it storyline based *correct* otherwise doing the 11th episode of each season wouldn't make sense.
I know Sleuthing with the Enemy isn't mid-season, but its still the first storyline ended, and the next four - basically focus on the Phoebe lying to her sisters storyline - *so* therefore Wrestling with Demons would be the mid-season episode - as I feel the second half with Cole's return sets the second half of season 3. Just my two cents, I don't expect people to *agree* with me on these.

Still Charmed And Sucking, uh, Kicking for me.
It was an opener to a season that no one wanted, and only existed because the WB needed to fill a hole in their schedule.

A Call to Arms is enjoyable only in the early scenes, with the sisters that have to face, each in her own way, the pain for what happened and the scenes with Piper and her baby
I can't stand the way they introduced the beginning of Leo's persecution by the Avatars
As always:good idea to start with the issue of the pain of the betrayal, good idea to imagine that powerful beings took advantage of the bewilderment of an Elder and three powerful witches to achieve their aims, bad idea the confusion plot of the gods and the green flying heads

I voted just for "Valhalley of the Dolls", one of my all-time least-favorite episodes. A number of the others tie for second-worse and I couldn't vote for just one.

I am curious myself mrmilano, much like Witchstock being voted best grams episode in another poll. I love different opinions and love to see people defend why something is good or bad. Thats what a forum Is for - we can all respect eachothers views. |

A Witches Tail can be a single episode, you just take out Phoebe staying as a mermaid and thats the end of it. It didnt feel like a 2-parter unlike Charmed Again. Was WB demanding a 2-hour episode opener, because the story didnt need to be 2 parts. |

Isnt it interesting that every premier that was a 2 parter has the same theme. A sister leaving or running away from her sisters - And the second part Is trying to get them back. So Its why I cant help but feel the fifth and sixth seasons openers shouldnt have been 2-parters. The second half is useless filler trying to rescue and convince Phoebe and Piper to return. |

Definitely "Valhalley".
It's almost entirely made up of rehashed plot points from "A Witch's Tail". Phoebe gets her insufferable "empathy" power. Paige is a treated like a bad joke. The way they treat Darryl reaches a new low. I could go on.

I may alter my views as I go through my rewatch (though somehow I doubt it), but for me it's kind of split in three.
Section 1- Something Wicca, Witch Trial, Honeymoon's Over, Charmed Again.
These, in my opinion, are generally good and watchable openers. Charmed Again p2 has many issues, but part 1 was strong.
Section 2- A Witch's Tail
At least it involved an innocent, I was okay with mermaids and The Sea Hag and Necron. It brought in some terrible stuff with Cole and Phoebe based fanservice (which would start a very big trend), but I just can't put it on par with s6-8. I don't necessarily think it's good, but I find it strangely watchable knowing what's still to come later.
Section 3- Valhalley, A Call to Arms, Still Charmed and Stinking
6x01/2 is the one I hate most, for the reasons I've already posted. 7x01 is just so stupid on so many levels, but at least it wasn't a two-parter. 8x01 again, I'm just glad it wasn't a two parter.
While 6 is still my worst, I think 7 is the most baffling for me. I mean, I hated 'Valhalley' and 'Still Charmed', but at least I kind of got what they were trying to do and where they were coming from...even if it stunk like dung on a hot day. With 'A Call to Arms', I just don't get it. What on earth possessed them to start a season with a horribly rendered six armed Piper is just beyond me. It had nothing to do with anything... they're de-possessed and it's just like "well, that was pointless and affected absolutely nothing." They really were just in costumes "because premiere!"
Oh then again, they needed an excuse for Phoebe to pounce on Nick within 10 seconds of meeting him didn't they? Ah, my mistake, now I understand. Never mind.

I didn't need to think about the first one. Valhalley of the Dolls had so many issues. I definitely enjoyed many parts of season six. One of my favorite episodes (not my favorite, but one of my favorites) is from that season, but I hated the season premier. If the only problem with the episode was the stealing of Darryl's soul when he specifically said, "no," I'd still hate the episode, but there was a lot more wrong with it than that.
Second on my list was A Call to Arms, because what on earth? That episode was pointless and rather annoying and the start of what I consider the weakest season of the show (although, it did have some pretty good ones sprinkled in to it).

Something Wicca This Way Comes.
If this episode isn't in your top 10 or 20 episodes...then you're not a true Charmed Fan! (hahahaha0
It's everything amazing about Charmed. An original concept. Three strong lead actresses. The story, the special effects. This episode had it going on. I give it a 10/10.
Witch Trial.
Yeah, I like this episode. It's not one of my favourites but it's lovely to see Grams. I didn't like the idea about being strongest on your anniversary and the whole power of one is actually the power of three thing. It kind of lacks originality by bringing back old demons but it's nice to see some consistency very early on in the series. Abarax just looked ridiculous but I liked how this story was connected to the Book. Prue's breaking down about losing Andy and the pressures of being the biggest sister was so heartfelt. And I guess Dan was cute. Don't really know about Jenny though...meh. 7/10
The Honeymoons Over.
Hunky Cole comes along and fun Phoebe gets a love interest. Leo proposes to Piper in the toilet. Prue is a bad a$$ witch on a mission and Daryl takes more of a lead in the show! This is the beginning of my favourite season, or favourite 2 Seasons... Season 3 and 4. I don't care what people say. I love the Piper/Leo Phoebe/Cole Prue/Paige storylines the best even if I think Season 1 and 2 are BETTER seasons.

Charmed Again Part 1:
My favourite Charmed episode. A 10/10 for me. Holly's acting is just amazeballs and really does save the show from jumping the shark. The racey Phoebe/Cole forbidden love storyline is still at play and the special effects and story is incredible. It's an episode without Prue just has Prue all over it. You can here Prue's anger through Piper and her "we need to get on with saving innocence" from Phoebe. We get to see Mom and Grams everybody onscreen and offscreen feels the loss and mourns Prue Halliwell while warmly welcoming Paige Matthews into the fold.
10/10
Mermaid Ep - This was the point of no return. I can't even be bothered writing out it's title. It's a 3/10 for me. Mermaids? wtf?
Xena Ep - Even worse. It's an entirely different show by this point. Characters are unrecognisable. Why couldn't this just cut straight to the chase and be Chris Crossed. This is when I start losing interest in the series. I no longer care about any of the sisters... maybe appart from Piper. Wyatt is boring. The magical creates and acting are cruddy. 2/10
Hindu Gods - a little better. But why so focused on Leo. Give it up! And Barbus....just die. And Lesley...puk. The only thing I like about this episode is baby Chris. Paige isn't so bad but everything else is jus annoying. 3.5/10
New identities Ep - I actually think this was well done considering how things were left in the previous Season. I was enthusiastic about Billie. Phoebe and Dex was crap. Piper and Leo were cute. Paige was becoming interesting again. I had hope and actually started to start liking the kids a whole lot more. Pity the rest of the Season sucked. 4/10
