Just finished reading. As I kept reading I get the sense this is so not like Charmed. It has a different tone and felt more darker with some humor but more Witches of East End. But we don't know what script version this is. It might not even be the shooting draft. Especially if he got the script before the cast did. But Harry doesn't appear to be who he says he is. So they are having him be the one pretending. Maybe the real Harry is dead and he is posing as him. I love this to be honest. But doesn't mean we wont get a true advisor later down the track. Maybe Ruperts role is only short term on the show. Who knows. Madison doesn't sound exciting to me. But him saying she will probably become a fan favorite. LOL but then maybe some will love her, on paper she doesn't for me. Interesting part I found that explains the show quickly for people. Hmmm. I don't like the part where "They are the most powerful witches in the world" and the fact that there is a Power of Three. It just erks me that's all! I mean there could have been a little originality here with that. But I guess it is a reboot.
Darker but funny - sounds like Season 4. Which I am ok with because I am a fan of Seaosn 4.
Me too. Was hoping they would change it up more. But looks like it's going to be more Season 4 of Charmed for sure. More demon mythology too. So it's got nothing S1-2 of Charmed in it and no S5-8. A mix of Season 3-4. I'd say it sounds like a cross between Charmed Season 4 (with humor) meets Supernatural and Witches of East End.

Darker but funny - sounds like Season 4. Which I am ok with because I am a fan of Seaosn 4. And, of course, that's the reason why I am officially no longer interested in watching. All of those shows that he said it's more like, I don't like. I don't want it to be dark and preachy! And I don't want it to be all about battling demons and their love lifes. I've said all along that I'd only be interested if this was a show about three sisters who happen to be witches. These don't sound like they are. They sound more like three demon-hunters who happen to be related, like the second set, which I never liked as much as the first. I'll probably do what I suggested near the beginning - follow it via other people's reviews. Then if I find I'm wrong and it truly is a reboot about three sisters who happen to be witches (and how can that be when one of them wasn't raised with the others? Even if she's actually a full sister and not half like Paige (or even if she was a half who was raised with her two sisters - if we find she *was* raised with them but left for some reason after she was an adult, but her sisters' memories of her were taken away by their mother, I could get very interested), I hope they give them a chance to bond before they can vanquish demons. But I'll bet she wasn't raised with them and they are able to use the Power of Three and vanquish a demon (and I'll bet the bad guys will be demons, not warlocks) in the premiere. *sigh* I'm not like other fans. I don't want the reboot to be horrible so it fails. That's not fair for younger fans who never had the fun of discovering Charmed Ones who were similar to us and who don't now feel dated. But I have a huge hunch that they simply won't be for me, especially if they're preachy about feminist issues. I agree something must be done with all of these issues, but preaching to those who disagree with you never works.

It means what I count as Classic Charmed (S1-3) will remain unsullied while *maybe* the reboot can fix all of the problems with the alternate universe spin-off that should've also been called Charmed: Rebooted (Sorry, Rebooted, couldn't resist!)

I'm not so sure I'm going to watch it now too. If it's anything like the shows mentioned in the thread, then I'm not going to watch it. I don't like a series being preachy to me, and it is much darker and like said shows mentioned, I think I'm not that interested. But if this reboot appeals enough to new viewers who never saw Charmed when it originally aired. Then that will be great to see what they think of it, but I have a hunch they will enjoy the reboot but find the Charmed we grew up with and loved boring and dated. Which is fine by me, it means I can just enjoy what I count as Charmed as always.

You may be the one who posts your reviews here and I can keep up with the reboot that way. It would be cool to find out what someone who also loves Classic Charmed thinks of the reboot's episodes. First to admit that I'll probably give in and watch the pilot, just for curiosity's sake, especially because we know that what ends up on the screen might not be the same as these earlier versions, but it it's anything like what he's describing - especially someone like the youngest becoming a fan favorite when I've yet to read anything about her that I like), then that's all I'll watch. But it's funny. I hope I end up liking it - it would be fun to have a different show with new episodes to discuss.

Still going to truly make my decision on if I'm watching or not until I see preview clips and promo's in May. That will really help my mind decide if I want to watch the pilot out of curiosity or not.
Because I need actual footage to see the sisters, the feel of the show and the way they promote it.

"especially someone like the youngest becoming a fan favorite when I've yet to read anything about her that I like), then that's all I'll watch." I have always had the feeling that the youngest would become the favorite. I think she will start the show like season 4 Paige, hating being a witch and always making mistakes. But by the end of the season, she will love helping others, chasing demons etc. I see some big character growth for this sister. From a selfish sorority girl to a loving and compassionate witch. Hence why I think she will become a favorite, especially for the young audience.

Not going to lie, I'm excited too! I get what people are saying about the potential darkness and preachiness. I would also hate this, but I can't deny that I enjoyed the Buffy-esque seasons of Charmed (S3-4) as well as S1-2. I really like the sound of the "dark" aesthetic (especially the Manor in the woods!) and I hope it is somewhat in the vein of S1's gothic feel. I just pray we don't get 'Gossip Girl with Powers', as I find too much teen/YA-angst gets old real quick.
Overall, I'm pretty chill about the reboot. If it sucks, I feel like it will be far enough away from Classic Charmed that it won't bother me. We'll always have S1-3/4 to go back to.

Gossip Girl with Powers is Marvel's Runaway. We already got that. (Gah, that is such a great show.)
I'm all up for a darker tone. I would have liked to know where Shannen wanted to take the show. I just don't like S4 because I very much do not like Phoebe/Cole and the fact that it took over. Especially in some of what wpuld be my favorite episodes if PC didn't ruin them.
At this point, Madison doesn't seem like I care about. I'm more interested in Macy and her trying to make sense of it with science (that actually sounds interesting if they really play the science vs magic headache).
Manor in the woods works for me. A bit Teen Wolf with the Hale's living in the preserve. Though that family all new they were werewolves. But it could be a fun dynamic. More seclusion would help protect them.
Still wish they'd amend the title.
And for the love of god. No preachiness. Be feminist, but show, don't tell. Don't be that stereotype.

I can understand them filming in Vancouver and calling it a fictional town because it's cheap to film there like other shows meaning they'll have more money to spend on set props, guest stars and visual effects.

Plus, Charmed did not utilize its city. So why even pretend. Though any of the questions on why this one area will be exemplified since at least San Franscico is a large city.

I'll probably give in dear and watch the pilot with my daughter and granddaughter too. Because I am curious to see how we all react to it, the same way we reacted to watching Something Wicca This Way Comes 20 years ago. Obviously, my opinions wouldn't have changed much, but my granddaughter is much older as is my daughter than when they saw Classic Charmed. Even if I don't continue watching, I can hear all about it from them and keep up and read what people have to say reviewing it here too. Plus, Charmed did not utilize its city. So why even pretend. Though any of the questions on why this one area will be exemplified since at least San Franscico is a large city. That's true dear, I wonder how they are going to do this reboot. I'm presuming this town *might* have a Nexus of sorts and making the town important for the series that way. Funny, that even though I may not have liked San Francisco as a setting because they didn't do much with the culture. I love the large city feel of Charmed. This reboot is going to struggle with a much smaller town feel. Unless they do have them fighting demons outside of the college town and explore Michigan more. But if the manor is in the woods, then I guess the manor is located no far from the college campus.

Seems like they're going Buffy and the Hellmouth. Which plenty of supernatural shows do. To contain the supernatural.
But as mentioned in plenty of threads, if they are the most powerful witches, why this one place? Most other shows don't havr this specific issue.

I agree that Macy sounds the most promising character thus far. It would be great if they explore the science v. magic debate at some point. I hope Madison, or Margarita as she is now, is well-acted otherwise I think she may be an annoying character.
Also, I wonder that if they do make the town a Nexus point, don't you think they will automatically be inviting accusations of ripping-off Buffy's Hellmouth concept?

Especially if this reboot is much darker. They should have ditched the most powerful witches aspect dear. Which I was hoping they were to make this reboot different. Macy does sound promising. I didn't consider the idea of a science vs. magic debate, especially since it will likely come up given Macy's job. Margarita might appeal to the new generation of fans of this reboot, and generation born after 9/11. But she comes across as annoying to me dear. Ohh no, we don't need another Buffy vs Charmed comparison with this reboot. And that isn't what they need. But they could make the town a Nexus point unless they have different points in all of Michigan. Be different if it were in different parts of the country, but I doubt the reboot dear is going to have the sisters leaving the town. Not even Classic Charmed had the sisters getting out of San Francisco.

I checked Season Zero. He responded to another person today on the reboot about the mother.
From Season Zero
Richard says: Wondering if the mother is actually alive and dies in the first scene
Lulla says: Thx! She dies in the opening scene, we see her.

Filming starts Monday in Canada. Will be exciting to see filming photos leaked, especially to see the cast together and how they look.
I wonder if we might hear about the mothers casting at some point in the next few weeks since we know she does appear in the pilot's opening scene and dies.
I keep going over Harry's description of not being who he seems. Makes me wonder if he might be the villain and the one who may have killed the mother to get to the sisters. Wouldn't that be the opposite of Leo's mysterious introduction revealing him to be good, only this time the whitelighter is the bad guy all along who they trusted?
